JS6000 Analog Output Output
Theory of operation
JS6000 joysticks are general purpose mobile machine control joysticks. They are available in a Y and an
XY axis configuration and support three grip types.
JS6000 joysticks support two electrical output options: Analog and Controller Area Network (CAN).
JS6000 joysticks support two handle position measurement technology options: Potentiometer and Hall
effect. With either option, two independent sensors per axis measure handle position. Grip analog and
switch signals are hard-wired to the joystick base.
Two PLUS+1® Compliant JS6000 function blocks are available. One supports joysticks having analog
outputs and the second supports joysticks that have the CAN output option.
JS6000 joysticks with the analog output option have a number of independent direction switches that
indicate handle direction and null position. The PLUS+1® Compliant JS6000 function block does not use
these switches. The compliant function block algorithm uses input voltage to determine handle position,
direction and null position.
The compliant function block algorithm uses one sensor input per axis to determine handle direction and
null position. The algorithm does not compare the dual sensor signals.
The PLUS+1® Compliant function block requires that the JS6000 joystick base be supplied with 5 Vdc
regulated sensor power provided by a PLUS+1® control device. JS6000 joysticks with the analog option
may be ordered with one of two output ranges: 25% to 75% of supply voltage or 10% to 90% of supply
voltage. The 10% to 90% of supply voltage output range must be selected when using the PLUS+1®
Compliant JS6000 function block.

Unintended movement of the machine or mechanism.
May cause injury to the technician or bystanders.
Secure the machine or disable the mechanism while servicing.
JS6000 base and grip pinout specifications are a function of joystick base measurement sensor type and
electrical output (analog or CAN). For joysticks with analog output, the pinout assignments for the 12 and
16 pin connectors depend on whether a potentiometer or Hall sensor is used to measure the position of
the joystick shaft. If a potentiometer sensor is used, the 12 pin connector is used for grip outputs. If a Hall
sensor is used, the 16 pin connector is used for grip outputs. Pins 13 through 16 are not used.
