METHOD STATEMENT:
PURPOSE: The main objective of this method statement is to provide detailed, safe
operating procedure involved in Material shifting & installation of MS Pipe barrication .
The primary objective of our organization is to ensure effective control and elimination of
accident in all job sites, and to maintain a conductive environment and infrastructural
facilities at workplace with due consideration for occupational health and safety legislation.
An awareness of safety culture will be developed for building and maintaining an effective
accident prevention programmer by pertaining on the job safety training and following safe
operating procedure of all activities involved in this project, it is our firm belief that if the
procedure and code of practices are rigorously followed, we can reach our objective of
achieving “ZERO ACCIDENT”, Safety of work and accident prevention is the responsibility of
every employee
SCOPE : This Method statement covers shifting & installation of MS pipe Barrication in
accordance with the scope & specifications.

EQUIPMENT HANDLING :
Assist and co-operate with the process of the assessment of risk
Assist the employer with the implementation of staff training, attend training
sessions as required and should apply the knowledge gained from training to their
daily work
Report all accidents, injuries and near misses involving handling activities however
trivial
Inform the employer if they are unable to undertake their normal manual handling
duties because of injury, illness, or any other condition
Not undertake any manual handling operation that they believe is beyond their
capability
Report any unsafe systems of work to the employer
SAFETY PREPARATION :
Obtain site inductions from safety officer or authorized person.
Appropriate signage board must be displayed at work site.
Barricade the work area with caution tape.

Keep all tools and tackles required ready for manual shifting and erection.
Isolate the electrical connection if required.
Ensure safety standard for manual materials handling.
For the heavy weight equipment, the manual installation equipment, routing
method for taking the equipment from temporary place, the direction and sequence
of installation etc., shall be made out before starting the works.
Ensure signage & working area barricading prior to start the job.
Ensure all required work Permit from authorized persons.
Required PPE’s to be used.
Shifted material shall be safely kept materials on the black pallet in the marked
location.
Ensure the work environment is free from any obstacle & other hazard.
MONITORING :
Check equipment, including any personal protective equipment supplied is safe
before use.
Co-operate with management agreements in respect of workplace inspection.
Standby supervisor or concern Engineer will be in place for the continue monitor of
the safe activity.
Follow any training information, guidelines and instruction given by top level persons
for checking inspection of safe practice.
Report any hazards or defects to the concern department immediately.
Fire watcher will watch the hot work area during the hot work activities & also he
watch the work site for one hour after completion of hot work.

STEP -2 : INSPECTIONS:
o All equipment will be check by RBIPL safety team before entry in site premises.
o Physical inspection should be done of all tools & tackles through IPSM & MLDZ
checklist.
o Job specific TBT must be conducted, and TBT ref no shall be mentioned in PTW.
Immediate hazards/risk must be mentioned in PTW
o Presence of competent & authorized personnel only for supervising the job is
mandatory. The safety officer shall make frequent inspection to ensure safe
operation.
Sequence of Activities
FENCING/BARRICADING WORK
o Provide suitable access for movement.
o Use only inspected hand tools.
o To ensure all person used mandatory PPE’s during Fencing work.
o Green net Fencing lines will be set out by a setting out engineer.
o Pegs (marked PFL) will be placed at all changes in direction of the fence line
and at appropriate centres for arcs in the fence line.
o The locations of gates will also be set out.
o Access to site office shall be approved with client access point.
o All works will be executed within the temporary fencing boundary by using
soft barrication.
o All work should be done with proper supervision and communicated to
team.

FABRICATION WORK
o PTW must be obtained before starting any work.
o Only inspected power tools shall be used in fabrication work
o Ensure housekeeping before start the fabrication work.
o Mandatory PPEs shall be used during the hot work activity
o Fire Extinguisher & Sand bucket must be available at location.
o Fire watcher shall be deployed
o Work should be done under proper supervision
HOUSEKEEPING
Employees must:
1) Co-operate with management arrangements for good housekeeping in the
workplace
2) Follow any guidance and instruction given to prevent injury or ill health
3) Report to the employer any hazardous or dangerous situations
4) Keep the site neat and tidy. Keep adequate number waste bins
5) Keep accesses clear of all obstruction
6) Remove the nails or bend down from the wooden scrap and remove them from
site
7) Store the material in orderly manner
Risk Assessment: The risk of these hazards can be reduced by implementing the following
control measures:
Control Measures:
Install barricades and fencing around the work site to prevent unauthorised access.
Use high visibility barriers and signs to clearly identify the location of the work site.
Ensure that barriers are securely fixed to the ground and are not easily dislodged.
If necessary, install scaffolding or platforms for workers to access high areas.

Identify traffic hazards and implement appropriate traffic control measures such as
traffic signs, cones and barriers.
Ensure that workers wear high visibility clothing to increase visibility to oncoming
traffic.
Develop and implement a traffic management plan that includes safe access and
egress for workers and vehicles.
Identify any hazardous substances present in the work site and implement appropriate
control measures such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilation.
Store hazardous substances in a secure location and dispose of them according to
relevant legislation.
Ensure that workers are trained and competent to operate equipment and machinery.
Implement appropriate control measures such as guards, emergency stop buttons and
regular maintenance checks.
Emergency Procedures:
Develop an emergency plan that outlines the steps to be taken in the event of an
emergency such as a fire, medical emergency..
Ensure that all workers are trained in the emergency procedures and know the
location of emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
Regularly review and monitor the effectiveness of the barricading plan and control
measures.
Ensure that any incidents or near-misses are reported and investigated to identify
areas for improvement.
Review and update procedures as necessary to ensure they remain relevant and
effective.
