INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT (40%)

Ms word, ms excel and theory assignment

Title: DESIGNING MY DREAM COMPUTER

This assignment required you to demonstrate your skills in using the word processor and spreadsheet
software. In addition, your knowledge of problem-solving is also required to finish this assignment
successfully. In this assignment, you are required to design a computer that fulfilled the needs of a special
person, such as

• A computer programmer
• Multimedia animator
• Individuals with special needs, e.g.:
o Mobility impairment,
o Hearing impairment,
o Multi-sensory impairment (MSI),
o etc

For example, if your dream computer is for a 3D animator, they may need a 3D printer and a 3D scanner.
Therefore, prepare a good working paper of that particular person's needs regardless of the prices of those
devices. You may start writing your assignment with an introduction that tells your dream computer's purpose.
In this working paper, you may need to mention the purpose of each computing device in your dream
computer, its prices and specification, and its pictures. Organized that information based on 4 categories:

1. Input Devices

2. Output Devices

3. System Unit

4. Storage

Finish up the working paper with suitable working paper formatting that includes the main page, Table of
contents, Table of figures, Citation, References, page numbers, Header and Footer, Table or diagram, etc.
The second part of this assignment is, you are required to summarise the cost of the Dream Computer based
on categories using spreadsheet software such as Ms. Excel or Google Sheet. The following are the required
items:

1. Create a table using a spreadsheet that shows the categories of the devices (input, output, storage,
system units) together with the list and the details of the related devices.

2. Add a column for the brand, picture, and price of those devices in the table.

3. Fill in the column with the related information using wrap text format and sort the table by Ascending
order in its own categories.

4. Using conditional formatting, hillite the items that cost more than RM2000 with red color and the
item that are equal to or less than RM2000 with the blue color.
5. Total up the price based on the category using functions

6. In the table, add a row that shows the most expensive and the cheapest device in the Dream
Computer. You may use a function to do this.

7. In the table, add a row that shows the TOTAL PRICE of the dream computer. Use a formula to do
this.

8. Create a new table that visualized the cost of each category of devices in a simpler way. Use data
from item (5) to do this, the data in the main table that you have created before should be aligned
with this new table.

9. Using a new table in item 8, create a pie chart that shows the expenses of devices based on their
categories. Style up the chart adequately.

10. Using an If function, create an interactive dialogue that produces a statement of "proceed with this
Dream Computer ", if the total amount of your Dream Computer is less than RM10K or else “This
computer is too expensive” statement will appear.

Your marks will be given based on the following assessment :

MS word -formatting : 10%

Ms Excel – functions,formula, table and styles : 20%

Contents : 10%
