INSTRUCTIONS:

1. The question paper contains four sections A, B, C, and D.


2. Section A consist of 6 questions of 1 marks each.
3. Section B consist of 4 questions of 2 marks each.
4. Section C consist of 2 questions of 3 marks each.
5. Section D consist of 2 questions of 5 marks each. Attempt any 1 question.

SECTION – A (1×6=6m)

Q.1 Define acceleration , write its S.I unit .


Q.2 What does the odometer of an automobile measure ?
Q.3 What is the quantity which is measured by the area occupied below the velocity-time
graph ?
Q.4 Convert the 470 K into the Celsius scale .
Q.5 Define the term ‘compressibility’.
Q.6 A diver is able to cut through water in a swimming pool. Which property of matter does
this observation show.
SECTION- B (2×4 =8m)

Q. 1 Distinguish between speed and velocity.


Q.2 When will you say a body is in uniform acceleration.
Q.3 Write down the characteristics of particles of matter.
Q.4 A gas fills completely the vessel in which it is kept .Give reason.

SECTION- C (2×3= 6m)

Q.1 Why does a dessert cooler cool better on a hot dry day ?
Q.2 A car accelerates uniformly from 18 km/h to 36 km/h in 5 secs.
Calculate the acceleration and the distance covered by the car in that time.

SECTION- D (5×1= 5m)

Q.1 Derive 3rd Equation of motion graphically.

Q.2 Give reasons for the following –


a. How does the water kept in an earthen pot ( matka ) become cool during summer ?
b. Why does our palm feel cold when we put some acetone or petrol or perfume on it .
