form you can think of.

1. Each group has 5 mins to set up and 10 mins

to present (15 mins per group)
2. Presentation Proper:
* Introduce genre of music and its
characteristics
* Let audience hear the song transcreated
(include info: artist, year it came out)
* Rationale of transcreated art
* Present transcreation
Artists and Artisans
First artists: cavemen – “representation”
ARTISANS – also referred to as
craftsmen; in the Medieval period
(13th to 15th cent) towns had
formalized groups of artisans who
took on a particular specialization
or trade: textiles and glass
workers, carpenters, carvers,
masons, armorers, and weapon-
makers, etc.
Artisans commit to a particular
trade, developing immense skill
and expertise in his craft. They
form guilds and sometimes
produce manuals.
Master artisans hire apprentices.

This was a way of transferring
knowledge and skills.
In the Philippines, artisans were
employed by friars to copy
religious images to propagate the
faith.
Each locality had a characterizing

style or feature in the way
depictions were made.
Renaissance ushered in pivotal
changes:
- the transformation of the
artisan to an independent artist
- the widespread patronization of
secular art
- the assertion of cognition, will
and individuality

survey the artwork that collectors
are interested in. They oversee the
sale on behalf of the collector.

Arbiters of taste; a key player in
making or breaking an artist’s
career or shape the course of a
museum’s collection.

Acquire artworks for a variety of

reasons:
- For appreciation and enjoyment
- To safeguard and preserve
- For investment
- To communicate a way of
life/lifestyle

distribution and circulation of the
