Communication Continuum 2

The document discusses communication continuum, which describes the various channels available for communicating and collaborating, from intrapersonal to interpersonal to group to cultural communication. Communication continuum analyzes each communication service based on parameters like bandwidth, immediacy, direction, and participation. It has been revolutionized by digital technology, combining semantics, visual communication, verbal communication, and vocal metrics to create infinite interaction platforms. The levels of the communication continuum include intrapersonal communication (within oneself), interpersonal communication (between two or more people), group communication (within small groups), and cultural communication (within communities).

The term Communication

Continuum describes the array of
possible channels we have at our
disposal for communicating and
collaborating with colleagues. It is
also a process that builds
awareness and credibility.
Communication continuum-a way in which one can look at each
communications service and analyze it based on a given set of
parameters:
1. Bandwidth-how much bandwidth does the service require?
2. Immediacy-how soon do people expect to listen, look, read or
respond to the "message"
3. Direction-in what direction is the conversation flowing? Is it in
one direction only or is it bi-directional?
4. Participation-how many people are participating and in what
ways?
Digital Technology has revolutionized the Communication Module,
collaborating Semantics, Visual, Verbal, Vocal Metrics towards creating
a infinite platform of interaction.
Semantics- explains the various types of meaning that exist within a
language, granting insight into how a person builds ability and
understanding with that language.
Visual Communication- is the practice of using visual elements to
communicate information or ideas.
Verbal Communication- is a type of oral communication wherein
the message is transmitted through the spoken words.
Vocal Metrics- communication by word of mouth.
