My Self-Assessment: A Reflection
We found the course PrEd 146n Assessment in Learning 1 to be
extremely beneficial and important. It provides a lot of information for us to be aware of what a teacher would do in the classroom. It also enables us to understand how to effectively assess our future students and know what is and is not appropriate for your teaching style. This introduces us to various types of assessments that would be extremely beneficial, such as formative assessment, summative assessment, and others. This course has made me aware that teaching is not as simple as some might believe. We, as the teacher, must have sufficient understanding of creating an activity or assessment in addition to creating a lesson plan and creating assessments to ensure that students learn and comprehend the lesson. It clarifies how teaching children involves more than simply imparting knowledge; rather, it involves guiding them as they seek for the lesson and giving them the opportunity to engage in experiential learning. Engaging in the activity will help learners learn it more effectively. I believe one of my weaknesses is that I am the type of student who is not really engaged and only responds to questions when called upon by the instructor. I am aware that I have some insight into the subject or the question, but I am afraid of being judged by everyone. I start to doubt my abilities and wonder if the path I'm following is right for me. But I constantly remind myself that I need to improve on that shortcoming if I want to become an educator in the future because there is nothing wrong with trying and making mistakes. Although we are not perfect, what matters most is that we constantly work to get better and advance. Because I have this aim in my heart and mind and it is for my family, I am committed to finish my education. They are my strength, in my opinion. In order to be the best educator for our future students, I am also developing my critical thinking skills. Because the life of an educator in the actual world is really difficult, I need to be patient and have confidence when I communicate my opinions as a future educator. We are so grateful to have a teacher like Ms. Bitanghol that words cannot express our gratitude. She does a great job of delivering the discussion, and we can comprehend the subject, which is crucial for us to understand as future educators. She never wasted time on anything and made good use of it. I hope she continue to inspire student and give her knowledge to everyone. Most importantly, I will always remember what I learnt in this course. We anticipate learning a lot from this course, which I am aware is a prerequisite. As aspiring teachers, this makes a significant contribution and affects our personal lives.
