The average per person income more than doubled - from `51,543 in
2010 to `1,09,491 in 2019

In the last 10 years, Bengal’s GDP has grown from `4.51 Lakh Cr to `6.9
Lakh Cr (53%)↑. Agriculture and allied services grew by 30%, industries
ECONOMY by 60%, and service sector by 62%

Bengal’s budget tripled in the last decade, growing from `84,804 Cr in


2011 to `2.55 Lakh Cr in 2020

The budget for education, sports, art and culture increased by almost
3 times - from `13,872 Cr in 2010-11 to `37,059 Cr in 2020-21

Under Kanyashree scheme, more than 67.29 Lakh girls have been
provided financial support for their education at the cost `6,720 Cr

Under Sabooj Sathi scheme, over 84 Lakh students have been provid-

ed bicycles, 92 Lakh have received uniforms, and 113 Lakh received
mid-day meals

30 new universities, 50 new colleges, 78 new industrial training insti-


tutes, 36 new polytechnics and 95,378 new school classrooms have
been created since 2010

The health and family welfare budget increased by more than 3 times —
from `3,442 Cr in 2010 to `11,280 Cr in 2020

In the last 10 years, government hospital beds increased from 58,647 to


85,627 (46%)↑ doctors from 4,800 to 15,338 (219%)↑ and nurses from
37,366 to 56,589 (51%)↑

1.4 Cr families have been provided health insurance benefits upto 5 Lakh
HEALTHCARE per year under the now universal Swasthya Sathi scheme. 13.2 Lakh
people have been treated at a cost of `1,291 Cr

Bengal’s IMR fell from 32 to 22 (31%)↓ and MMR from 117 to 98 (16%)↓
during 2011 to 2018; institutional deliveries stand at 98.5% compared to
68% a decade ago

Subsidised food grains provided to 9.5 Cr people under the Khadya
Sathi scheme, 8.2 Cr beneficiaries are provided minimum 2 kg rice

constructed for rural families at a cost of `39,009 Cr

Under Nirmal Bangla, over 82.6 Lakh toilets have been constructed

95.3 Lakh new households electrified since 2011 to achieve 100%
electrification; per person consumption rose from 550 kWh in 2010 to

ELECTRICITY,
A total of 1,18,128 Kms of new rural roads were constructed and
ROADS AND upgraded over the last decade
WATER
35,819 piped water supply systems and tube-wells set up for 2.25 Cr
rural people during 2011-19, compared to 15,631 during 2004-11

The agriculture and allied services budget increased by almost 5 times -
from `2,274 Cr in 2010-11 to `10,648 Cr in 2020-21

In first 5 years alone, farmer household incomes grew from an average


of `48,192 to `78,708 (63%)↑
FARMERS
As of 2019, financial assistance of `2,642 Cr has been provided to
46.92 Lakh farmers under the Krishak Bandhu scheme

55.3% of the total cultivable land in Bengal is under assured irrigation,


more than double of the Indian average of 20.4%

Under Rupashree, 6.5 Lakh women have been provided financial assis-
tance for marriage at an expenditure of `1,629 Cr

Reservation for women in panchayats expanded from 33% to 50%; the


number of elected women representatives is 30,157 today compared to

Since 2011, more than 6.7 Lakh SHGs set up providing self-employ-
ment to nearly 90 Lakh rural women with `38,914 Cr worth of credit
sanctioned

In the last 10 years, the yearly budget for SC/ST welfare schemes
has more than doubled and now exceeds `2,024 Cr per year

Through the Sikshashree scheme, nearly 91.8 Lakh SC/ST students


have been provided `689 Cr in financial support for their education

Over 12 Lakh SC/ST senior citizens received monthly pensions of EMPOWER-
�1000 at a cost of `1,179 Cr through Taphashili Bandhu and Jai MENT
Johar schemes

Crime against SC/ST communities in Bengal is one of the lowest in


India (WB rank in India, SC - 27th, ST - 24th)

1.63 Cr people were provided employment for 249.3 Cr man-days of
work generated under MGNREGA (100 Days of Work scheme) over
the last 10 years

Nearly 89 Lakh small businesses operate in Bengal today compared


EMPLOYMENT to 34.6 Lakh in 2012, employing 1.35 Cr people

Number of factories in Bengal increased from 8,322 in 2010 to 9,534


(15%)↑ in 2020, with average factory worker earnings rising from
`1.3 Lakh to `2.3 Lakh (77%)↑

Under Samajik Suraksha Yojana, 1.29 Cr unorganized workers have
been provided medical benefits of up to `60,000/yr with an accidental
death benefit of `2 Lakh at a total cost of `1,834.62 Cr
SOCIAL
Almost 17.3 Lakh senior citizens, widows and disabled people have SECURITY
received monthly pensions at an expenditure of `10,939 Cr from2011-12
to November 2020
