Topic 1: Talk about changes in your hometown.
Well my hometown is Kim Bang district, exactly is Thuy Xuyen village.
1.How has your town changed in the last five years?
Um I think that there are several changes in my village. If my memory serve me right, the
road in the past was very small, and have many pothole, but nowadays it was widened. It is
larger and they plant a lot of flowers in two roadsides. Another significant change in my
hometown is that people have a better life with many state-of-the-art home appliances such
as air-conditioner, vacuum cleaner…

Follow-up questions:
1. Would you like to raise your children in a community like yours? Why or why not?
My note:
One change that can improve my local area is to include lessons about road safety in the
school curriculum.
First, let me explain the problem in my hometown. I’m currently living in Le Hong Phong
district, in Phu Ly city. The problem is that many people commuting around the city do not
obey traffic laws. It isn’t uncommon to see people running the red light or do not wear
helmet. This carelessness leads to many traffic accidents in the city and affect a lot of
people.
Therefore, I think it is necessary to include lessons about road safety as a compulsory part
of school curriculums. To avoid putting too much pressure on students, we don't have to
teach them the whole traffic law system, only some basic road rules and pedestrian safety
like waiting for the red light to cross the streets and drive carefully.
Topic 4: Talk about an invention that has changed the world in a positive way.
1.What is it?
Those past decades have appeared a wide range of great inventions. Personally speaking, I
suppose that the smartphone which was invented in 1993 has been one of the most
revolutionary creations(phát minh quan trọng).
2.Who invented it? When?
Follow-up questions:
1.Do you think it is the responsibility of governments alone to protect the environment?
2. What measures can individuals take to protect the environment?
My note:
It is regrettable that Phu Ly, where I’m living, is negatively affected by pollution and the
major environmental problems it is facing are water pollution, air pollution and noise
pollution.
There are various reasons why this city is badly polluted. Firstly, due to modernization,
more and more vehicles such as cars and motorbikes are used. This leads to an increase in
exhaust emissions which contaminate the atmosphere, not to mention the rising level of
noise pollution. Secondly, factories and industrial zones in the city have discharged a huge
amount of untreated waste into rivers, causing death to many fish and other aquatic
animals.
In fact, pollution makes people here less healthy, and some even suffer from life-
threatening diseases such as lung cancer, skin cancer, and so on. Therefore, the
government must deal with this problem right away. Cutting down on vehicle use is the
best way to reduce air pollution and noise pollution. We can do this by encouraging people
to use public transportation. Besides, those who litter should pay a heavy fine. Finally, I
think the best solution is to raise awareness and educate people to protect the environment.
Topic 6: Talk about something you can do to help the environment
1.What is it?
Recycling things (paper, plastic, glass and metal..)
2. How can you do it?
It’s easy to do-just put items into a bin that says ‘RECYCLE’ on it
3. How you would suggest to somebody to do it?
-make them aware of the fact that recycling has many benefits for us as humans and
our environment:
+reduce greenhouse gas emissions form landfills
+conserve natural resources such as metals and minerals
+create jobs for people who work in waste management industries
-suggest some ideas to improve their recycling
+ use reusable bags when shopping
+ recycle plastic bottles into small planters
