Part I. General Conditions

a. The term “owner” as used in this specification refers to the management of Lungsod ng
Quezon
b. The term “Construction Architect/ Engineer” shall mean the person executing the
contract on behalf of the Owner for the construction of the project and said Construction
Architect’s/ Engineer’s duly authorized assistants or representatives.
c. The term “Contractor” means the entity that will provide all labor, materials, equipment,
and who shall perform all the work necessary for the completion of the project in
accordance with the plans and specifications.
d. The term “Architect” refers to the designer, planner and consultant of the owner.
e. The term “Completion of Contract” shall mean full performance by the contractor of his
obligations under the contract, and all amendments and revisions thereof except his
obligation concerning (1) release of liens and certificate of Contractor, (2) other final
documents. The term “completion of the project” shall mean the contract and all
amendments and revisions thereof. The certificate of Completion, signed by the
Construction Architect/ Engineer and approved writing of the Owner shall be the sole and
conclusive evidence as to the date of completion.
f. The term “default” used herein shall include any such failure by the Contractor to make
progress in the prosecution of work so as to endanger the completion of the project within
the calendar days allotted.
g. Whenever in the specifications or upon the drawings the words “directed”, “required”,
“ordered”, “designated”, “prescribed”, or other words like import are used, it shall be
understood that the direction, requirement, designation or representation of the
Construction Architect/ Engineer is intended. Similarly, the words “approved”,
“acceptable to”, or “satisfactory to” refers to the Architect/ Designer unless otherwise
expressly stated.
h. Where “as shown”, “as indicated”, “as detailed”, or words of similar import are used, it
shall be understood that the reference is made to the drawings accompanying these
specifications, unless stated otherwise. The word “provided” as used herein shall be
understood to mean “provided complete in place”, that is, furnished and installed.

DIVISION OF THE SPECIFICATION.
These specifications are divided, for convenience, into sections as set forth in the Table of
Contents preceding these General Conditions. Any mention in these sections or indication on the
drawings of the articles, materials, operations, or methods, requires that the Contractor shall
furnish each item so mentioned or indicated, of the kind, type or design and quality specified or
shown on the drawings. Likewise, the contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, incidentals,
superintendence necessary to complete the work in accordance with the true meaning and the
intent of these specifications although such articles, materials, operations, methods, quality,
qualifications, or condition is not expressed in complete complete sentences. Where devices,
items, or parts thereof are referred to in the singular, it is intended that such reference shall apply
to as many such devices, items or parts as are required to properly complete the work. The
Contractor shall coordinate the work covered in each section with the work of other sections. The
necessary information - items, accessories, anchors, connections, patterns, templates, etc.- shall
be delivered when required in order to prevent any delay in the progress and completion of work.

General Condition-3 SPECIFICATION AND DRAWINGS


a. The Contractor shall keep in the workplace a copy of the drawings and specifications and
at all times give the Construction Architect/ Engineer access thereto. Anything mentioned
in the specifications and not shown on the drawings, or shown on the drawings and not
mentioned in the specifications, shall be of like effect as if shown or mentioned in both.
In case of difference between drawings and specifications, the specifications shall govern.
In case of discrepancy either in the figures, in the drawings, or specifications, the matter
shall promptly be referred to the Architect who shall promptly make a determination in
writing. Any adjustment by the Contractor without such determination shall be at his risk
and expense. The Architect shall furnish from time to time such detailed drawings and
other information, as he may consider necessary, unless otherwise provided.
b. Omission and mis-description. Omissions from the drawings or specifications or the
mis-description of details of work which are manifestly necessary to carry out the intent
of the drawings and the specifications, or which are customarily performed, shall not
relieve the Contractor from performing such omitted or mis-described details of work,

but shall be performed as if fully and correctly set forth and described in the drawings
and specifications.
c. Deviations from the drawings and dimensions therein given, whether or not error is
believed to exist, shall be made only after written authority is obtained from the
Architect.

General Condition- 4 PROGRESS SCHEDULE.


The work shall be executed with faithfulness and energy and in the order of precedence as
directed by the Construction Architect/ Engineer.
The Contractor shall submit a progress schedule as follows:

a. The progress schedule shall be submitted within two weeks after the date of award of
contract and shall be subject to the approval of and/or modification by the Architect.
b. The process schedule shall be in Chart Form or Critical Path Method (CPM) and shall
show the order in which the Contractor proposes to carry on the work, the dates on which
he will start the several salient features (including procurement of materials, plant and
equipment), and the contemplated dates for completing the same.

General Condition-5 TAXES, LICENSES, PERMITS, AND FEES.


All taxes, licenses, permits and fees which may be due to the local and/or National governments
on account of the performance and completion of the work stipulated herein, and fees for testing
of materials and specimens shall be paid for and obtained by the Contractor. The building and
occupancy permits shall be obtained by the Contractor and assisted by the Architect, but paid for
by the Contractor and Owner, respectively.

General Condition-6 INSURANCE.


The Contractor shall take out and maintain, throughout the construction period, insurance in the
following minimum requirements.

a. Workmen’s Compensation Insurance covering all employees in statutory limits who
perform any of the obligations assumed by the Contractor under the contract, except as
specified herein.
b. Public Liability and Property Damage Liability Insurance covering all operations under
the contract: limits for bodily injury or death not less than P25,000.00 for one person and
P75,000.00 for each accident; for property damage, not less than P25,000.00 for each
accident and P45,000.00 aggregate for accidents during the policy period.
c. Automobile Liability Insurance on all self-propelled vehicles used in connection with the
contract, whether owned or hired, public liability limits of not less than P25,000.00 for
one person and P75,000.00 for each accident; property damage limit of P20,000.00 for
each accident.

General Condition- 7 CHANGES IN SPECIFICATION AND DRAWINGS.


The owner may, from time to time, during the process of the construction of the project, make
changes in, addition to, or subtractions from the specifications and construction drawings as
conditions may warrant. However, if the cost to the Contractor shall be materially increased by
any such change or addition, the Owner shall pay the Contractor for the reasonable cost thereof
in accordance with a construction contract amendment signed by both parties. But no claim for
additional compensation for any such change or addition will be considered unless the
Contractor shall have made a written request therefore to the Owner prior to the commencement
of work in connection with such change or addition. The Owner shall make a written notification
to the Architect prior to any change specifications and drawings.

General Condition-8 SUPERVISION AND INSPECTION


a. The Contractor shall cause the construction work on the project to receive constant
supervision by a competent superintendent (hereinafter called Superintendent) who shall
be present where construction is being carried on at all times during the working hours.
The Contractor shall also employ, in connection with the construction of the project,
capable, experienced, and reliable foremen and such skilled workmen as may be required
for the various classes of work to be performed. Directions and instructions given to the
superintendent by the Owner shall be binding upon the Contractor.

b. The Owner reserves the right to require the removal from the project of any employee of
the Contractor if in the judgment of the Owner such removal shall be necessary in order
to protect the interest of the Owner. The owner shall have the right to require the
Contractor to increase the number of his employees and to increase or change the amount
or kind of tools and equipment of at any time the progress of the work shall be
unsatisfactory to the Owner. But the failure of the Owner to give such directions shall not
relieve the Contractor of his obligations to complete the work within the time and in the
manner specified.
c. The manner of performance of the work and all equipment used therein shall be subject
to the inspection, tests, and approval of the Owner. He shall have the right to inspect all
payrolls and other data and records of the contractor relevant to the work. The Contractor
will provide all reasonable documents for such inspection and tests. The Contractor shall
have an authorized agent to accompany the inspector when the final inspection is made
and if requested by the Owner when any other inspection is made.
d. The Construction Architect/ Engineer may recommend to the Owner that the Contractor
suspend the work wholly or in part, for such period or periods if he deems it necessary
due to unsuitable weather or such other condition which are considered unfavorable, for
the satisfactory prosecution of the work, if there is a failure on the part of the Contractor
to comply with any of the provisions of the contract, the Contractor shall not suspend
work pursuant to this provision without written authority from the Owner to do so. The
time of completion herein above set forth shall be increased by the number of days of any
such suspension, except when such suspension is due to the failure of the Contractor to
comply with any of the provisions of this contract. In the event that work is suspended by
the Contractor with the consent of the Owner, the Contractor, before resuming work shall
give the Owner a written notice at least twenty-four (24) hours notice thereof in writing.

General Condition-9 DEFECTIVE WORKMANSHIP


a. The acceptance of any workmanship by the Owner or the Construction
Architect/Engineer shall not preclude the subsequent rejection thereof if such
workmanship shall be found to be defective after installation. Such workmanship shall be
remedied by and at any expense of the Contractor. The Contractor shall not be entitled to

any payment hereunder so long as any defective workmanship, in respect to the project of
which the contractor shall have had notice, shall not have been remedied.
b. Should any workmanship be found both to have complied with the requirements within
the one-year period after issuance of certificate of completion by the Owner or
Construction Architect/Engineer, the Contractor shall remedy such defect within thirty
days (30) upon written notification by the Owner. In the event the Contractor fails to
make such remedy, the Owner may execute the corrective measures but the Contractor
shall pay the cost involved thereof.

General Condition-10 QUALITY OF WORK AND MATERIAL.


All materials, arts and equipment furnished by the Contractor shall be new, high grade and free
from defects and imperfections, and shall be in accordance with the provisions of Section:
Construction Quality Control, unless otherwise hereinafter specified. Workmanship shall be in
accordance with the best standard practices and as specified. Both materials and workmanship
shall be subject to the approval of the Construction Architect/Engineer and acceptable to the
Architect.

General Condition-11 PAYMENTS TO CONTRACTOR. Within the first seven (7) days of
each calendar month, the Contractor shall request partial payment from the Owner for the
construction accomplished during the preceding calendar month. This shall be furnished in
quadruplicate and certified by the Contractor, recommended by the Construction
Architect/Engineer, and approved by the Owner solely for the purpose of payment. Such
approval however, shall not be deemed approval of the workmanship. Only ninety (90%) percent
of each estimate approved for each month during the construction of the project, shall be paid by
the Owner to the Contractor prior to completion of the project. The Contractor shall submit a
detailed breakdown of the major items as outlined in the accomplished cost breakdown in the
Proposal Form. The approved breakdown will be the basis for payment when each item is in
place or accomplished. Total cost of the detailed breakdown shall be equal to the contract price.
Each billing must be furnished with a copy of the record/ compliance of the construction material
quality control.

General Condition-12 PROGRESS PHOTOGRAPHS
a. The Contractor, shall at his expense, furnish to the Construction Architect/Engineer
progress photographs that shall be taken monthly starting when the work begins and
continuing so long as the work is in progress on the exterior or interior of the building,
from station points designated by the Construction Architect/Engineer.

Part II. Technical Specifications

DIVISION 1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS


1.1. GENERAL INTENT

1. The contractor shall furnish all materials, equipment, tools, apparatus,


appliances, accessories, transportation, labor and supervision required for the
complete construction of the subject project, as shown on the drawings and
called for in these specifications, ready for use.
2. All contractors submitting the proposal for this project shall first examine the
site. All proposals shall take into consideration all such conditions that may
affect the work under this contract. The specifications and plans shall form part
as one. Anything mentioned on plans and not mentioned on the scope of work
and specifications and vice versa shall be properly consulted to the CPDMO
Project Architect/Engineer for clarification. Any work or materials not in
accordance with the drawings or specifications shall be replaced to comply with
the drawings and specifications at the contractor's expense.
3. The contractor shall coordinate his work with all parties to ensure proper phasing
or comply with the approved schedule of work. The contractor shall engage
under him, a registered Engineer or Architect to supervise his work. He shall
remain at all times in the construction site.

4. A logbook shall be available at the site. It shall contain the daily activities in the
site, including but not limited to weather condition, delivery, manpower and
other matters pertaining to the condition of the project. It will also serve as the
data for the contractor and the Project Inspector and shall be surrendered to the
CPDMO at the end of the project.
5. Identification Cards of construction workers and engineer/representative shall be
supplied by CPDMO with corresponding fees; it should be worn at all times
while inside the building/campus premises. Those without IDs shall not be
allowed to enter the premises for security purposes.

6. No alteration or additional work that will result in an additive or deductive cost
change from the Contract shall be allowed without the approval of the
chancellor.
7. The contractor shall submit at least three (3) options per item for approval.
Complete specifications with product samples shall be submitted by the
contractor to CPDMO and end-user for evaluation. Inspection of the Project
Architect/Engineer in-charge shall be required prior to installation of any
item/material on the construction.
8. Regular coordination meetings shall be conducted with CPDMO, contractor and
End-user for proper project monitoring.
9. Existing conditions of the work site shall be documented by the contractor and
photos shall be taken before commencement of work to ensure such status. Any
damage to the areas due to the contractor's on-going work shall be restored at his
expense.

10. The contractor shall provide a complete copy of "As built plans" of the
project/unit concerned which shall include all the civil, architectural, plumbing,
electrical and other related layouts in 20" x 30" original sheets. It should be
properly drawn indicating all the specifications, layouts, tables and necessary
data. An initial layout should be submitted in a A3 sheet for checking and
approval of Project Architect/Engineer. Final "As built plans" shall be submitted
in 20"x 30" tracing sheets, 3 blueprints with signature of project engineer, and an
electronic Autocad drawing file. A copy of the technical documents and
warranties of the items shall also be submitted in soft and hardcopies.
11. The contractor shall promptly remove from the premises all rubbish, trash,
debris, and all superfluous building materials weekly. After the completion of all
works, restore all areas that were damaged as affected by the construction works
and leave the site clean to the satisfaction of the Project Inspector or his
representative and End-user.

12. All materials removed from the unit shall be properly documented prior to
turn-over to the End-user for proper safe keeping. The turn-over document shall
be attached to the contractor's final billing.

1.2 Submittals

Shop Drawings, Product Data and Samples


● · Submit to the CPDMO of shop drawings, product data and /or samples of
all materials for review. Submit at least three (3) options per material for
approval.
● · The CPDMO's review shall be limited to quality and design intent. It
shall be the contractor's responsibility to verify quantities and sizes, and make
corrections observed and noted by CPDMO on any returned submissions.
● · No work requiring submissions or samples shall commence until
submission has been reviewed and signed by the End User and or CPDMO.
● · Final Acceptance of colors and finishes will be made from samples
applied on the job based on the signed and approved sample materials.
● · All submittals shall be channeled from General contractor to CPDMO,
Planning and Development Department, and back to the General contractor. This
procedure applies to original submittals as well as required resubmittals. Each
organization shall keep its required number of copies and/or make necessary
copies. The contractor will make all corrections noted on check sets, if
necessary, and return for review as required by CPDMO.
● · No submittal shall be received by the CPDMO without a transmittal letter.
● · Samples must have Manufacturer's Data Sheet/Specification and must
come together with a transmittal sheet with a section for approval/disapproval
and recommendation of CPDMO and/or END USER.

DIVISION 2. SITE WORK
2.1 SCOPE
The work covered by this section of the specification consist in furnishing all items,
articles, methods, plants, labor equipment appliances and materials and performing all operations
that may be necessary proper or incidental, to complete excavation, filing backfilling and
grading in accordance with this section of specification all applicable plans and drawing, and
subject to the term and condition of the contract.

2.2 EXCAVATION

A. The contractor shall make all necessary excavations for foundations to grades
indicated without extra compensation including all other excavations, required and necessary for
the proper persecution of the work. Incidental excavation to the level the bottom of footings,
compacting and tamping are included in the building contract.

B. Footing shall not be placed on fill.

2.3 FILLING AND GRADING


A. All excavations shall be backfilled presently as work permits after concrete walls and
piers have attained full design strength and/or as the engineer directs.
B. After all forms have been removed from footings, walls and piers, the materials from
excavation free from wastes and objectionable matter shall be used for backfilling around them.
This filling shall be used for layers not exceeding 0.15 mts. (6"), thoroughly tampered.

C. In spaces where slab rest on ground, (or on fill) this shall be leveled and accurately
graded with 0.10 mts (4") of gravel and sand, and tampered thoroughly before concrete pouring
is done.

2.4 SITE CLEARING

Clear the area from all obstructions or as affected by the construction works, except
those structures indicated on the drawings or designated by the Project Architect/Engineer to be
left standing. It shall be properly protected from accidental damage due to construction works
by the erection of suitable barriers upon approval of the Project Architect/Engineer.

2.5 SITE MONITORING

Site monitoring shall be a must to the contractor for the effective implementation of the project.
Any discrepancies on plans and actual site conditions shall be properly coordinated with the
Project Architect/Engineer concerned for verification. Regular coordination meetings shall be
done between the contractor or its representative and the Project Architect/Engineer concerned
at CPDMO.

2.6 UTILITY SERVICES

Utility Service/Consumption
Provision of electric and water meter shall be included in the quotation to be
charged to the contractor's overhead. All utility consumption shall be provided with
meters to limit the usage of such during the working period. Payments of bills shall be
made thru the Cashiers Office after the renovation period presenting the statement of
account issued by Accounting upon recommendation of the Chief of CPDMO.

DIVISION 3. CONCRETE
3.1 GENERAL
All concrete work shall be done in accordance with standard "specification for government
reinforced concrete" as adopted by the government in so far as it does not conflict with the
specific provisions specified herein for "concrete masonry works" and the revised proportioning
of concrete as specified hereinafter.

3.2 USE CLASS "A" (3000-PSI CONCRETE) FOR FOOTINGS, COLUMNS, BEAMS,
AND ALL CONCRETE SLABS. (2500PSI) FOR SLAB ON FILL.

3.4 REINFORCING STEEL


Unless otherwise shown on plans, reinforcing steel shall be deformed bars, standard size, and in
accordance with the metal reinforcement and requirements of standard specifications for
concrete and reinforced concrete.

3.5 WOOD FORMS


Shall be sound, good quality lumber, free from large loose knots and shall be less than 1/2" thick
plywood, or boards of even thickness.

3.6 CONCRETE HOLLOW BLOCKS


For walls and partitions shown in the drawing requiring concrete hollow blocks, use approved
machine locally made blocks.
A. Specimens shall be representative of the whole lot of units from which they are
selected. (Twenty days before any work is started)
B. Reinforcing bars shall be 3/8" diameter bars. All horizontal reinforcement must be tied
to the vertical reinforcement at their intersection. All horizontal reinforcement must be placed at
every three layers of hollow blocks and tied to the vertical reinforcement at 0.80m on centers at
their intersections.

DIVISION 4. MASONRY
4.1 General

Concrete masonry construction shall include the furnishing of all labor, material, and
equipment, and
4.1.1 Scope

performing all operations necessary to execute all concrete masonry construction, as
specified.
Contractor shall make all preparations and do all work necessary to receive and adjoin
other work.
Contractor shall give the work his personal supervision and shall keep a competent
foreman on the job at all times when he is not there himself.
Contractor shall specify the position of all dowels required for masonry on other
construction, including foundations.
Contractor shall arrange for the necessary storage space for construction materials at the
job site.
4.1.2 Submittals
Prior to beginning work, the Contractor shall furnish to the Owner the following:

a. Color sample of Concrete Masonry Units. Unless specified otherwise, color of the Concrete
Masonry Units shall be Desert Sand

4.2 Materials
All materials shall conform to the following standards:

4.2.1 Concrete Masonry Units Masonry units shall conform to Section 202-2.1.1 of the
Standard Specifications. [4/08] 7-2
4.2.2 Mortar
Mortar shall conform to Section 202-2.1.2 of the Standard Specifications, unless specified
otherwise. Mortar shall be Class E with ¼-part lime putty.
4.2.3 Grout
Grout shall conform to Section 202-2.1.2 of the Standard Specifications.
4.2.4 Lime Putty
Lime putty shall be made from approved quicklime or hydrated lime and shall weigh not less
than 83 pounds per cubic foot. Hydrated lime shall conform to ASTM C207, latest. Quicklime
shall conform to ASTM C51, latest. Quicklime shall be slaked and then screened through a

16-mesh sieve. After slaking, screening, and before using, it shall be stored and protected for not
less than 10 days.
4.2.5 Reinforcing Steel
Reinforcing steel shall conform to Section 201-2 of the Standard Specifications. Unless specified
otherwise reinforcing steel shall be Grade 60

4.2.6 Mixing
Concrete shall be mixed well using the proportion specified by the Engineer. Hand mixing shall
be done, using shovels, on a level concrete slab or steel plate. Mix aggregate and cement until the
color is uniform. Spread the mixture out, sprinkle water over the surface and ~ix. Continue with
this process until the right amount of water has been mixed in. Mixture shall be free from
impurities such as dirt and grass. If a batch mixer is used, accurate timing and measuring devices
shall be observed as per manufacturer's recommendation.

4.2.7 Moulding
Hand operated machines shall be used as manufacturer's recommendation. The mould of a
powered machine should be filled until six (6) to eight (8) cycles of compaction are required to
bring the compacting head to its stops. Demoulding or removal of the mould shall be done
carefully so that the fresh blocks are not damaged. Fresh blocks shall be protected from rain with
plastic sheets or any suitable covering during the first day and from the drying effects of the sun
and wind until curing starts.

4.2.8 Curing
After being removed from the mold, the Concrete Hollow Blocks (CHB) and Louver Blocks
shall be covered with a plastic sheet or tarpaulin and kept damp and shaded for at least seven (7)
days in order to effectively cure. This can be achieved by continually spraying them with water
or keeping them under water in tanks.

4.2.9 Installation

1. All masonry work shall be laid true to line, level, plumb and neat in accordance with the Plans.

2. Units shall be cut accurately to fit all plumbing ducts, opening for electrical works, and all
holes shall be neatly patched.
3. No construction support shall be attached to the wall except where specifically permitted by
the Engineer.
4. Masonry unit shall be sound, dry, clean and free from cracks when placed in the structure.
5. Proper masonry units shall be used to provide for all window, doors, bond beams, lintels,
plasters etc., with a minimum of unit cutting.
6. Where masonry units cutting is necessary, all cuts shall be neat and true to line.

DIVISION 5.METALS
5.00 GENERAL

5.01 SCOPE

A. Furnish all materials, labor, equipment, plant, tools, required to complete fabrication and
erection of all structural steel and miscellaneous steel items complete, as shown and/or as
specified including: Furnishing of anchor bolts for structural steel columns and responsibility for
their correct locations; provide templates; Brackets and miscellaneous iron connections,
shop-connected to structural members; Beam Penetrations as indicated in the drawings;
Installing and removing temporary guys, shores, scaffolding and bracing required for steel
erection.

B. Where so indicated on the plans, structural members shall be joined by welding. The welds
shall be of size and type indicated and shall be made by competent operators.

5.02 RESPONSIBILITY

A. Contractor shall be responsible for the accurate location of all steel work including all items
used to attach materials to other parts of the work.

B. Contractor shall see to it that any and all items of work which are to be built into the works of
other trades are installed at the proper time.

C. Contractor shall notify the Architect / Engineer if the steel work shall be fabricated in a shop
other than the site, so that arrangements can be made together with the Project Representative in
the inspection of the delivered materials and in the fabrication of the steel work.

D. Where specified steel sizes and thicknesses are found unavailable in the market, all affected
items shall be upgraded to the next higher level of size and thickness.

5.03 SUBMITTALS

A. Shop Drawings
1. In accordance with the requirements of the General Conditions, furnish complete detailed
fabrication and erection shop drawings including details of all connections for review and
approval of the Engineer.
2. The Engineer will review and approve all shop drawings. Re-submit if any corrections are
required.

B. Proof of Compliance: Submit the following in three (3) copies for review by Testing
Laboratory and Architect.
1. Certified reports of tensile properties and bend tests for steel shapes, bar, and plates.
2. Certificates of conformance for structural steel tubing.
3. Affidavit (in duplicate) that structural steel having a yield strength greater than 36 ksi
conforms to requirements of Drawings and Specifications.

5.04 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

A. Shipping statements shall be delivered in the jobsite. The Project Representative and the
Engineer shall inspect the materials per delivery and may request additional tests on the materials
delivered, if in their opinion, there is reasonable doubt as to the materials specification. The

fabrication and delivery of the fabricated structural steel should conform with the approved
schedule of erection and items such as anchor bolts, anchorage and others that have to be placed
in concrete which shall be in jobsite before such concrete structural member will be poured.
Erection marks shall be painted on structural steel members and fabricated sections. Small
structural members such as rivets, bolts, nuts, washers, etc, should be shipped and kept in
properly marked suitable containers.

B. Structural steel members which are stored at the site or a staging area shall be above ground
on platforms, skids, or other supports. Store fasteners and welding electrodes in a weather tight
and dry place until ready for use. Store packaged materials in their original containers.

5.05 EXECUTION

5.06 CONDITION OF SURFACES


A. Before starting work, verify locations and elevations of bearings and anchor bolts.
Immediately report inaccuracies. Work under this Section shall include responsibility for
accurate bearing of steel and correct location of anchorage.

5.07 ERECTION

A. General - The Contractor shall use special care in unloading, handling and erecting the steel to
avoid bending, twisting or otherwise distorting the steel members. The erector shall handle the
materials in such a way as to minimize the damage to the shop coat of paint. The Contractor shall
plan and execute the erection in such a way so that the close fit and neat appearance of the joints
and the structure, as a whole will not be impaired. If temporary braces or erection slips are
employed, care shall be taken to avoid any unsightliness upon removal. Tack welds shall be
ground smooth and holes shall be filled with weld metal or body solder and smoothed by
grinding or filing. The Contractor shall submit to the Architect or Engineer the sequence of
erection for approval.

B. Erect items of structural steel in accord with applicable provisions of Reference Standard
1.03.

C. Erection Tolerances: 1. Structural Steel work erection tolerances shall be in accord with
“AISC Specification for the Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for Buildings”
and “AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges”

2. Let all structural members of single rolled shape and built-up members fabricated by riveting
or welding, unless otherwise specified, be straight within the tolerances allowed by ASTM
Specification.

3. Never let compression members deviate from straightness by more than 1/100 of the axial
length between points which are to be laterally supported.

4. Let completed members be free from twists, bends and open joints. Sharp kinks or bends shall
be the cause of rejection of materials.

D. Field connections shall be welded or bolted as indicated. E. Temporary Bracing: Introduce


wherever necessary to provide for loads to which structure is subjected including erection
equipment and its operation. Leave in place until no longer required for safety. Make proper
provisions for construction loads, piles of materials, equipment, etc., carried by structural frame
during erection.

F. Alignment: No riveting, permanent bolting or permanent welding shall be done until the
structure has stiffened with the resulting stresses and properly aligned.

PROTECTION

7.1 Materials
· Use flexible cementitious waterproofing on concrete ledges, decks, and related
areas of the building and other concrete surfaces as necessary.

· Use waterproofing materials with approved specifications, as follows:

7.2 Application

· Surfaces to which waterproofing membranes are to be applied shall be free from


foreign matter, clean and smooth, dry and free from holes and projections. The
concrete contractor shall perform surface preparations. Immediately before the
application of waterproofing membrane, surfaces shall be cleaned. Application will
not be permitted in wet weather

· The Contractor shall submit to the Project Architect/Engineer samples of materials


to be used for approval before any work shall start. Waterproofing materials shall
be delivered to the site in the original sealed containers or packages bearing
manufacturer's name and brand designation.
· Provide additional coating or application as per recommendation to consolidate the
substrate

· Follow manufacturer's specifications and allow only the skilled manpower to apply
the necessary materials.

· Flood testing should be done at a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours.

· Warranty period on product and application should be at minimum of ten (10)


years.

DIVISION 8. DOORS AND WINDOWS


8.1 GENERAL
All windows, doors and structural steel shall be of intermediate and of the types
shown on plans.

8.2 SCOPE OF WORK


The work covered by these specifications consists in the furnishing of all plant,
equipment, appliances and materials, and labor in performing all connection with the
installation of steel windows and doors complete in strict accordance with this section of
the specifications and the applicable drawings, and subject to the terms and conditions
of the contracts.

8.3 MATERIALS
All members shall be hot-rolled new billet steel frame and ventilators sections
not less than 1” deep from front to back. Frame members to be equal leg design only at
points where called for by detailed drawings. Zoo-type section of special design, with
offset permitting down-turned leg of the bent member to seat flush when bent is in a
fully closed position shall be used for frame. Ventilator have integral weathering battles
provided double flat parallel weathering contracts of not less than 1⁄4” width on all four
sides of the vent. Muntis shall be 1/8” x 1”.

8.4 CONSTRUCTIONS

Corner events shall be electrically butt welded and ground smooth. Corners of
the frames all the window joints and interjections of Muntis with frames and all vent
members shall be coped and electrically yielded, Muntis bars, except where ventilators
accord, are to be continues from jamb to jamb. Muntis cross joints; shall be rigidly and
neatly interlocked with faces flushed. Frame sections at vent sills have weep holes
provide for drainage. Continues whether drips shall be provided where required at the
heads for side hinged ventilator or doors. Windows and doors shall be designed for
glassing from the outside with wire glazing cups and steel casement putty.

8.5 SIDE-HINGED VENTILATORS


A. Casement Type:
Each ventilator shall be hung on two heavy not rolled steel hinges of the
extension type, welded to both frames and vent. Hinged design shall provide ferrous to
non-ferrous contracts between all movable surfaces. Hardware shall control the
ventilator independently of the screen and shall consist of a polished bronze locking
handle and worn drive operator ventilator over 5’-0” in height shall have three (3) hinges
and a double locking device.
B. Polished bronze locking handle and strike shall be furnished for ventilators 5’-
0” and under in height, two point locking device and three hinges be furnished for vents
over 5’-0” in height.

8.6 WOOD LOUVERS


All wood louver doors & windows shall be of Tanguile Wood type. Double action
hinges shall be provided to all wood louver doors located at all toilet rooms with barrel
bolt locks.

8.7 SHOP FINISH


Rust resisting priming paints: All doors and windows shall receive one (1) coat
of rust resisting priming paints, (first quality red lead paint) applied at the shop after
fabrication.

8.8 ERECTION

A. No windows or door unit shall be allowed, in any case, to be installed in place


in the form work previous to pouring concrete. Instead grooves for grouting shall be
caused to be formed along the sides and heads of wall opening. Concrete below level of
finished masonry or concrete opening, leaving the balance of grouting after window or
door units are set in place.

B. Standard Anchors;

Clips, bolts, or screws shall be provided by the window manufacturer.

C. Grouting;
Windows and doors shall be grouted with a non-shrink aggregate as follows;
D. 1. Where tree passage of grout is not hindered by pea gravel, grouting mix
shall be:
1 part embeco non-shrink aggregate
1 part Portland cement
1 part sand
1.5 parts pea gravel (size 1⁄4”-3/4”)

DIVISION 9. FINISHES

9A. Ceiling

9A.1 Scope of Work

· The work covered by this item shall consists of furnishing all ceiling finishes,
equipped with fixing accessories in accordance with Plan and/or shop drawings
and as herein specified.

9A.2 Material Requirement

· Use 0.60M x 0.60M x 4.5mm thick Fiber Cement boards with 1/8" groove on
T-Runner
with fixed hanger support; puttied, sanded and ready to receive paint primer
coating.

· Gauge # 12 fixed hanger rod, power load, drive pin, 1-1/2" x 1/8" steel angle and
accessories. Provide support at a maximum of 1.20 m x 1.20 m spacing both ways.

· Submit sample for approval of design.

9A.3 Construction Requirements

· Provide all the necessary preparation of ceiling (dismantling of existing ceiling,


etc).

· Fixed hanger rod shall be at 1.20 m maximum interval both ways but provide
additional hanger and support on critical areas.

· Provide all the necessary accessories and framing for proper installation.

· Ensure adequate hanger and support to all the utilities on the area.

· Restore all affected areas.

· Use approved methodology.

B. Paints and Coatings

9B.1 Scope of Works

· This Item shall consist of furnishing all paints, enamels, varnishes and other
products to be used including labor, tools and equipment required as shown on the
Plans and in accordance with this Specification.

9B.2 Materials Requirements

· Specified materials shall be delivered to the job site bearing manufacturers' name,
brand name, type of paint, analysis showing all important constituents of the paint,
color of paint and instructions for thinning.

· Specified item and/or its components shall be handled in such manner as to


prevent damage. The same shall be properly protected from harmful elements or
damage by other work prior to its incorporation Into the Project.

· Store materials in a well-ventilated space designated for the storage and mixing of
paint. Materials delivered to the site shall be properly stored to minimize exposure
to extremes of temperature.

9B.3 Quality Assurance

The University reserves the right to subject material samples to test at his expenses.
If such material tests do not meet the specified standards, the cost will be charged to
the Contractor.

· Number of coats, where specified, is minimum. Contractor shall apply as many as


required to meet specifications for solid, uniform appearance. Where film
thickness in mils is specified, spot checks will be made to determine compliance
with specified thickness.

9B.4 Submittals

· Submit 2 samples of each and every color or finish (including all coats). Where
the same color or finish Is to be applied over different materials, samples of each
shall be submitted on different materials, where practical.

· Sample size shall be a minimum of 150 mm x 150 mm (6" x 6").

9B.5 Protection

· Paint materials shall be properly protected from damage, providing for adequate
storage space. Take all necessary precautions to prevent fire, such as keeping oily

rags in U. L. approved metal containers or removing from building at the end of
each day's work.
· All work fittings, furniture, etc., are to be suitably protected during execution of
the work. Splashes on floors, walls, etc. are to be removed during progress of
work and on the whole, left clean and perfect upon completion.
· No exterior or exposed painting shall be carried out under adverse weather
conditions, such as extremes of temperature, during rain, fog, etc., or if there is
excessive dust in the air.

9B.6 Lead Content and Warning Labels


· The material manufacturer shall state the lead content on the label of any paint
product container based on metal percentage of total solids.
· The label of any paint product exceeding 0.5% lead content shall include the
following statement: "This paint contains more than 0.55 lead content and shall
not be used on surfaces accessible to children."

9B.7 Repair of Defective Work

· All defective or damaged work shall be restored to initial condition.

· All voids, cracks, nicks, etc., will be repaired with proper patching material and
finished flush with surrounding surfaces.
· Marred or damaged shop coats on metal shall be spot-primed with appropriate
metal primer.
· Defective or damaged items and/or components, which cannot be repaired or
restored to initial conditions, shall be removed and replaced to the satisfaction of
the Architect at no additional cost to the end-user.

9B.8 Cleaning
· Upon completion of the building, the Painting Contractor shall remove all paint
spots from all finished work, remove all empty cans and leave the entire premises
free from rubbish or other debris caused by his work. He shall remove his

equipment from the premises. He shall clean off all glass free from paint spots
and smears and shall present the work clean and free from all types of blemishes.

C. Products

9C.1 General:

· Materials are specified to establish the standards of grade and quality desired for
the work, principal pigments and vehicle types and minimum percentage of solids
content by volume.

· The top quality / first class paints.

· The products of Manufacturers not named may be submitted for use provided they
are equal in quality and grade to the primers and finishes specified as approved by
the Architect. If substitute paint products are desired, a statement shall be
submitted to the Architect giving the Manufacturers name, proposed primer and
finish for each paint system, analysis for each type of paint, and the use or uses
intended. Failure to submit such statements will be cause for rejection.

· In cases where the name of a brand or supplier is mentioned under a particular


specification, only paint or primer of that manufacturer is acceptable and no
substitution shall be permitted on the grounds that the brand specified is not
available in the local market. Materials of one manufacturer shall not be applied
over that of another, except in the case of shop primer coat.

9C.2 Color, Gloss and Texture:

· Refer to the Finish Schedule. All work Is to be completed without deviation from
these unless written approval Is received from the Architect. No extra cost shall
be allowed because of the color variety scheduled.

D. Execution

9D.1 General:

· Work-in-place, on which specified work is to be applied, shall be examined to
ensure that conditions are satisfactory for application of specified materials. Any
defect, which may influence satisfactory completion of specified work, shall be
reported, in writing, to the Architect. Absence of such notification will be
construed as acceptance of work-in-place.

· Do not apply exterior paint in damp or rainy weather or until surfaces have
thoroughly dried from the effects of such weather.

· Before the start of painting, remove finish hardware, accessories, plates, lighting
fixtures, and similar Items, as approved by the Architect, except UL. Labels on
Fire Door and Frames, which must not be removed. Use only workmen skilled in
the applicable building trade for removal and reinstallation of finished item
in-place .

· The following items shall be masked or protected with suitable covering:

● · Sealing is caulking and glazing compounds (unless


otherwise directed by the Architect).
● · Glass.
● · Gauges, thermometers and other recording devices.
● · Moving parts of machinery and other mechanical equipment - such
as: shafts, couplings, valve stems, and the like.
● · Coated decorative sheet metal work.
● · Sprinkler heads and the like.
● · U.L. Labels

(a) Wood

New Surface:

· Surface to be painted should be clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dust,
dirt, contaminants and all loose girt or mortar; sand rough edges remaining,
countersink nail heads for putty applications.

· Dust off surfaces completely then wipe with a clean rag.

Repainting:
· Remove scaling, flaking, blistering, and peeling off paint, wire brushing,
scraping, or water blasting. Let dry.

· For glossy areas, sand and dust clean.

· In case of mildew infestation, treat with FUNGICIDAL WASH


SOLUTION by swabbing or brushing. To ensure proper treatment, allow
either solution to remain in surface for 24 hours. Brush off and rinse with
water.

(b) Metal
Nezv Surface:
· Surface to be painted should be clean and dry, free from oil, grease, dust,
dirt, wax, solder flux, and other contaminants by wiping with mineral spirits
or paint thinner.

· Remove rust by wire brushing, sanding or scraping.

· Where maximum performance of protective coatings is necessary (e.g.


Industrial Plants), prepare surface by blast cleaning.

Repainting:
· Sand wire brush or scrape rusted metals and apply METAL ETCHING
SOLUTION to remove rust. Let it stay for 10 to 15 minutes. Be sure to
wash off surface thoroughly with mineral spirits, letting it dry before
applying paint. Primer should be applied a few hours after application of
metal etching solution before rust sets in.

(c) Concrete

Repainting:

· Remove all loose, scaling, flaking and peeling off paint using PAINT AND
VARNISH REMOVER by wire brushing, scraping, or water blasting. Let
dry.

· For chalking old paint, use CHALK BLOCKER.

· In case of mildew infestation, treat with fungicidal wash solution or bleach


solution (1:3, laundry bleach to water, respectively) by swabbing or
brushing.
· To ensure proper treatment, allow it to stand on the surface overnight before
washing off residue. Let it dry.

Paint Application

● · General: Specified work shall be done by skilled painters in a


workmanlike manner. All spaces shall be broom-cleaned before painting is
started. Surface to be painted shall be clean, dry, smooth and adequately
protected from dampness. Each coat of paint shall be allowed to dry at least
twenty-four (24) hours before the succeeding coat is applied. Finish Work shall
be uniform, of approved color, smooth and free from runs, sags, defective
coverage, clogging or excessive flooding. If surfaces are not adequately covered,
as determined by the CPDMO Architect/Engineers/Inspectors, further coats shall
be applied to the satisfaction of the CPDMO Technical Group. Edges of paint
adjoining other materials or colors shall be sharp and clean without overlapping.
● · Paint Mixing: Paint mixing and thinning shall be done only in accordance
with directions of the Manufacturer. Paint must be strained free from all skin and
extraneous substances and shall be thoroughly mixed in a clean container during
use.
● · Methods of Application: Exterior first coats and Interior first coats shall
be applied by brush, except on shop-primed surfaces, which shall be applied by
brush or roller. All primer shall be applied by brush. Succeeding coats over
field-primed surfaces and all coats over shop-primed surfaces may be applied by
brush roller or spray. Distemper brushes are to be of approved type and less than

15 cm In width. Rollers for applying enamel shall have a short nap. Spray
equipment shall be as recommended by the manufacturer of the paint used. Areas
inaccessible to spray painting shall be coated by brushing or suitable method.
● · Coating: Consecutive coats of paints are to be slightly differing tints
except in the case white. Each coat shall be allowed to harden before the next Is
applied. Rubbing down between coats is to be done with fine abrasive paper.
● · Wood Finishing: Wood to have natural satin varnish finish shall be
stained as required and sealed as soon as such Items are delivered to the job site.
Seal all ends to exclude moisture. Knotting shall be carried out by using shellac
dissolved in spirit or approved ready mixed compound.
● · Defects in Masonry, Concrete, Plaster and Fiber Cement Board: Small
cracks, holes, and other similar imperfections in masonry, concrete and plaster
surfaces,
which show up after the prime-sealer has been applied to the surface, shall be filled
with an approved sparkling compound before application of succeeding coats.

· Woodwork and Metal Work: Primed or undercoated woodwork and metalwork


shall not be left in an exposed or unsuitable situation for an undue period before
completing the painting process. Stopping and filling shall be deemed to be
included for all metal works, plaster works, and wood work specified to be
used to produce a surface ready for priming and painting.

· Final Touch-Up: Upon completion, finish work shall be touched-up and restored
where damaged and left in good condition.

Painting Schedule

General:

· Painting Systems shall be applied to surfaces as scheduled. All walls to be


painted shall be plastered prior to painting. All under slabs to be painted shall
have fair-faced concrete.

· Film Thickness: As recommended by paint manufacturer for the paint
specified, includes thickness in mils and number of coats.

A. Base Units and Wall Cases

1. Base Units - End panels and back reinforced with internal reinforcing front and rear posts.

2. 49 Inch and 84 Inch High Cases - Formed end panels with front and rear reinforcing post channels;
back shall be formed steel panel, recessed 3/4 inch for mounting purposes.
3. Posts - Front post fully closed with full height reinforcing upright. Shelf adjustment holes in front and
rear posts shall be perfectly aligned for level setting, adjustable to 1/2 inch o.c.
4. Secure Intersection of Case Members With Spot and Arc Welds - Provide gusset reinforcement at front
corners.
5. Base Unit Backs - Where utility chases are located behind base units, provide drawer units without
backs and cupboard units with removable backs for access to services. At all other locations, provide

2. Drawer Bodies - Bottom and sides formed into a one-piece center section with bottom and sides coved
and top edges formed. Front and back panels are spot welded to the center section.
3. Drawer Suspension - Heavy duty coved raceways for both case and drawer with nylon tired, ball
bearing rollers; self-centering and self-closing when open to within 3 inches of the closed position.
4. Provide Drawer With Rubber Bumpers - Friction centering devices are not approved.
5. Security Panels For Drawers - Provide security panels for drawers with keyed different locks.
6. File Drawers - Provide with 150# full extension slides for full access and operation. C. Doors 1. Solid
Panel Doors 3/4 inches thick, double wall, telescoping box steel construction with interior pre painted and
sound deadened, top corners welded and ground smooth. Reinforce interior of front panel with welded
steel hat channels. Hinges with screws to internal reinforcing in case and door. Hinges shall be removable;
welding of hinges not approved. Doors shall close against rubber bumpers.

D. Shelves
1. Form front and back edges down and back 3/4 inch. Form ends down 3/4 inch.
2. Reinforce shelves over 36 inches long with welded hat channel reinforcement the full width of shelf.
3. Pull out shelves: Same suspension as specified for drawers.
4. Depth and Weight Capacity: 305 mm , 180 pounds.

1. Drawer and Hinged Door Pulls – Brushed Aluminum rectangular style finger pull.

INSTALLATION

A. On steel support members provide 2 inch minimum bearing.


B. Concrete Filled Deck: Install deck over at least three spans and weld with 5/8 inch diameter weldments
at 12 inches OC. Screw side laps with No. self drilling screws 36 inches OC maximum.
C. Bare Deck: Install deck over at least three spans and weld with 5/8 inch diameter weldments at 6

15.1 SCOPE OF WORK

A. The contractor shall furnish all labor, tools and materials necessary for the complete
installation of the plumbing system, including all fixtures and connections of the building to the
sewer, or to and from septic vault as the case may be.
B. The plumbing shall also include the water service to all fixtures and equipment within the
building, the water supply pipes to the water main. It also includes the waste, soil and bent pipes.
C. The contractor shall pay all fees and permits incidental to the completion of the work, ready
for service.
D. All works shall comply with the pertinent provisions of the national plumbing code of the
Philippines.

15.2 THE DRAWINGS SHOW THE GENERAL ARRANGEMENT OF ALL PIPINGS.


HOWEVER, WHERE LOCAL AND/OR ACTUAL CONDITIONS OF THE JJOB OR AT
THE JOB SITE NECESSITATE A DEVIATIONS OR RE-ARRANGEMENT. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND SUBMIT FOR APPROVAL DRAWINGS FOR
THE PROPOSED ARRANGEMENT.

15.3 PIPING

A. Every water closet and lavatory shall have a separate shut-off.

B. Water pipes shall consist of standard steel galvanized pipes.

C. Exposed bent pipes in rooms or on the exterior of the building 2 inches diameter shall be of
steel, galvanized pipe. Waste pipes shall be of cast iron, except those exposed in rooms which
shall be nickel plated like traps.

15.4 COVERING OF WORKS


No drainage of plumbing system or part thereof shall be covered until it has been inspected,
tested and approved as specified.

15.6 MAKE
Locally manufactured plumbing fixtures shall be provided with U.S. manufacture fittings and
accessories.

15.7 LAVATORIES
The contractor shall provide and set complete ready for service the following
Lavatories:
A. For all toilet rooms, use “Philippine Standard” vitreous China lavatory “New Lucerne”
Modern PF 361, colored, size 16” x 20”, with splash back-front overflow, anti-splash rim
cast-in-soap dish, basin off-center. To right hand side, pocket hanger and integral China brackets,
(or approved equivalents)

B. Elsewhere, “Northern Hill” Grecian acid resisting enameled cast iron built-in lavatory
with stainless steel frame (MF-1824) integral front overflow, anti-splash rim and two
cast-in-soap depression, colored, size 20” x 18” (or approved equivalents)

15.8 WATER CLOSETS


Philippine standard, vitreous China free-standing close coupled closet combination
“Compton” model PF 2107 colored, integral seat siphon wash bowl with jet, extended rear shelf,
PF 4049 tank with cover and with locking device (or approved equivalents)

DIVISION 16. ELECTRICAL

16.1 GENERAL

16.1. APPLICATION This section applies to all sections of Division 16, "Electrical," of this
project except as specified otherwise in each individual section.

16.2. SUBMITTALS
Obtain approval before procurement, fabrication, or delivery of items to the job
site. Partial submittals will not be acceptable and will be returned without review.
Submittals shall include the manufacturer's name, trade name, place of manufacture,
catalog model or number, nameplate data, size, layout dimensions, capacity, project
specification and paragraph reference and technical society publication references, and
other information necessary to establish contract compliance of each item to be furnished.

16.2.1 Shop Drawings


In addition to the requirements of the Contract Clauses, shop drawings shall meet
the following requirements. Drawings shall be a minimum of 216 mm by 280 mm in size,
except as specified otherwise. Drawings shall include wiring diagrams and installation
details of equipment indicating proposed location, layout and arrangement, control
panels, accessories, piping, ductwork, and other items that must be shown to assure a
coordinated installation. Wiring diagrams shall identify circuit terminals and indicate the
internal wiring for each item of equipment and the interconnection between each item of
equipment. Drawings shall indicate adequate clearance for operation, maintenance, and
replacement of operating equipment devices. If equipment is disapproved, revise
drawings to show acceptable equipment and resubmit.
16.2.2 Manufacturer's Data
Submittals for each manufactured item shall be the current manufacturer's
descriptive literature of cataloged products, equipment drawings, diagrams, performance
and characteristic curves, and catalog cuts.
16.2.3 Certificates of Compliance
Submit manufacturer's certifications as required on products, materials, finish,
and equipment indicated in the technical sections. Certifications shall be documents
prepared specifically for this contract. Preprinted certifications and copies of previously
submitted documents will not be acceptable. The manufacturer's certifications shall name
the appropriate products, equipment, or materials and the publication specified as
controlling the quality of that item. Certification shall not contain statements to imply that

the item does not meet requirements specified, such as "as good as''; "achieve the same
end use and results as materials formulated in accordance with the referenced
publications"; or "equal or exceed the service and performance of the specified material”.
Certifications shall simply state that the item conforms to the requirements specified.
Certificates shall be printed on the manufacturer's letterhead and shall be signed by the
manufacturer's official authorized to sign certificates of compliance.

16.3 DELIVERY AND STORAGE


Handle, store, and protect equipment and materials in accordance with the
manufacturer's recommendations and with the requirements of NFPA 70B, Appendix I,
titled "Equipment Storage and Maintenance During Construction." Replace damaged or
defective items with new items:

16.4 CATALOG PRODUCTS/SERVICE AVAILABILITY


Materials and equipment shall be current products by manufacturers regularly
engaged in the production of such products. Products shall have been in satisfactory
commercial or industrial use for 2 years prior to bid opening. The 2-year period shall
include applications of equipment and materials under similar circumstances and of
similar size. The 2-year period shall be satisfactorily completed by a product for sale on
the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturers' catalogs, or brochures.
Products having less than a 2-year field service record will be acceptable if a certified
record of satisfactory field operation for not less than 6000 hours, exclusive of the
manufacturers' factory or laboratory tests, is furnished. The equipment items shall be
supported by service organizations, which are reasonably convenient to the equipment
installation in order to render satisfactory service to the equipment on a regular and
emergency basis during the warranty period of the contract.

16.5 MANUFACTURER’S RECOMMENDATIONS


Where installation procedures or any part thereof are required to be in accordance
with manufacturer's recommendations, furnish printed copies of the recommendations
prior to installation. Installation of the item shall not proceed until recommendations are

received. Failure to furnish recommendations shall be cause for rejection of the
equipment or material.

16.6 ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS


Electrical characteristics for this project shall be 34.5kV primary, three phase,
four wire, 60 hertz; 400 volts Grounded Y secondary, three phase, 4wire + G, 60 hertz,
and 240 volts secondary, single phase, 2 wire + G, 60 Hz.

16.7 TEST AND GUARANTEE

A. When the installation is reported in writing by the electrical contractor to be complete and
ready for acceptance, a test as directed shall be made by the electrical contractor in the presence
of the engineer-in-charge.

B. All apparatus, materials and labor required for making test of all work shall be supplied by the
contractor at his own expense.

16.8 DISTRIBUTION PANELS AND CABINETS


Shall be standard factory products of a reputable electrical manufacturer and shall be of the flush
type. All trims shall each have a door equipped with chrome-plated catch look and two (2) keys.

16.9 CONDUIT WORKS

A. Conduit dust to be installed for this project shall be PVC electrical conduits smooth inside and
free from flaws and imperfections.

B. No conduit of less than 1⁄2 inch nominal diameter will be permitted on any-part of the
installation and shall be larger where so required by the number and size of wires to be installed
therein.

16.10 WIRING METHODS

All conductors used for this project shall be rubber-covered, double braided,single copper
conductor of the approved type of building wires. They shall be rubber-covered, double braided,
single copper conductors. If run in underground conduits or conduits installed at wet locations,
conductors shall be thermoplastic type “TW” or rubber covered type “RW” use “Phelps Dodge”
electrical wire and cables.
