BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

I am Baby Jillen D. Salonga, residing in Bulusan, Calumpit, Bulacan ever since I was

married to my husband who is residing there since his birth. I am 25 years old with a 4-

year-old son. I love cooking for my family and having quality time with them.

I took my elementary education at Dona Damiana Deleon Macam Memorial

Elementary School. My elementary days will always remain special to me. I still

remember some of my fun times during those times.

I graduated in high school at Frances National High School. There, I had fun because

I found a group of friends that up to now are still in contact with me.

After I graduated from high school, I thought of what degree program was best suited

for me. I was surprised when I chose Education when I inquired at Colegio de Calumpit,

Inc. Fortunately, I passed the entrance and qualifying examination. I am currently taking

up a bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at the said institution.

tool for you in any manner that it may help you with, particularly in terms of making it

more enticing and fuller with knowledge gained that may inspire you to be an educator in

the future like me. Thank you and take delight in discovering how I'm growing and

learning as I practice teaching. God's praises!

PRAYER OF A PRACTICE TEACHER

4
Generous and ever-loving God, You have entrusted me with this great responsibility of

molding not just the mind but the whole persona of the young people under my care.

This is an important part of my life.

Father with wisdom I can impart knowledge to my students. Help me remain smart. Help

me inspire them to study harder. Shower me with a humble heart so

Give me the strength to combat my weaknesses

Fill my heart with patience and love so that I can shower my students. Most importantly,

may I be a fruitful and loving instrument in the building of your Kingdom on earth as I try

to follow the example of your son Jesus Christ, the greatest teacher. Amen

PERSONAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

5
My educational philosophy is very important to me as a prospective teacher. It

has an impact on both the environment I provide for my students and the

technique I educate them. It will affect how I teach. It will also have an impact on

the type of learners I develop. Each of us adheres to our educational philosophy

or set of basic ideals.

Teaching is more than just transmitting knowledge; it also entails building

students' employability skills in preparation for future employment in their chosen

fields. Teaching should emphasize both knowledge and skills. I am convinced

that effective instruction will improve learning. The curriculum should incorporate

the best teaching methods and approaches that a teacher can use to reach every

student. Methods of instruction should promote an inclusive environment in which

no one is left behind.

Being a teacher is a challenging job that needs a significant amount of time and

effort. However, this profession is rewarding because teaching is also learning.

Seeing the learners improve and progress is enough to make you feel satisfied.

As a future educator, I will make certain that proper learning resources and

instructional methodologies are used to ensure that learning occurs. When it

comes to teaching, every teacher has a philosophy that reflects their values and

ideas about education.

6

Description of the Practice Teaching Site

Vision

We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and

competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute

meaningfully to building the nation.

As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education

continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders.

Mission

To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-

based, and complete basic education where:

Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating

environment.

Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and

supporting environment for effective learning to happen.

11
Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share

responsibility for developing life-long learners.

12
School History

Sta. Lucia High School was established in 1989 with an enrollment of 113 students, its

operating expenses as well as the salaries of teachers were initially funded by the Local

Government of Calumpit headed by Hon. Raul Mendoza, until it was absorbed by the

National Government in 1991.

After staying in the old Sta. Lucia Elementary School building for three years, they

acquired at last a 10, 000 sq. meter lot purchased by the Municipality of Calumpit, and in

the same year, a two-story building with 10 classrooms was constructed by DPWH to

cater growing population of the school.

In 1994, the SEDP building was constructed under the management of the OIC, Ms.

Julieta P. Bulos, with its complete facilities like Administration Building, Library, Home

Economics Room, Science Laboratory, and 4 classrooms. Classes became more

comfortable and learning become more conducive. In the same year, Mrs. Marissa D.

Hermogenes, took over the management of the school, over Ms. Bulos when the latter

transferred to other schools. More classrooms were constructed; a two-classroom

building, donated by the Municipality of Calumpit under the leadership of Late Ramon

Pagdanganan, one story 5 classroom building constructed by DPWH during the term of

Former President Fidel V. Ramos, a two-story with four classrooms.

Expectations from the Student Teaching Program

The student’s expectation about Student Teaching Program is that they will be able

to learn a lot from the student teachers deployed at Sta. Lucia National High School.

Some students expect the student teachers not to be like their teachers in the subject

since we the student teachers are not yet officially teachers. The students at Sta. Lucia

National High School is excited by the arrival of the student teacher hoping to learn more

about the subject. Some students are worried that the student teachers won’t be able to

deliver the lesson just like how their teachers are delivering it to them. They are also

expecting that learning would be more engaging and active in which how they wanted to

learn.

My cooperating teacher’s expectation in the Student Teaching program is that he

will be able to teach me the things I needed as a future teacher. Teaching is a process of

imparting knowledge to the learners. It is the use of various approaches and activities to

assist learners in gaining the skills and understanding they require for a specific reason,

such as their chosen profession. Teaching is not easy, as you need to plan carefully

about what you are going to teach your learners that’s why teachers make a lesson plan

before delivering their topic or lesson. The teaching strategy, method, or approach that

you will use must be appropriate to your learners. Teaching can be tiring for some and

some find it enjoyable. It is a profession that requires your time and effort. This program

will help my cooperating teacher with the workload and at the same time I will be able to

learn.

16
There are paper works that the teachers are doing as part of their job. I’ve been

wanting to learn those and as a student teacher, I am expecting that I would be able to

learn those. Using Microsoft Excel is challenging for me as I am not yet good at using

that tool. My cooperating teacher will help me learn to use technology in teaching and

encoding the grades of the students. The students are expecting me to deliver the

lessons very well just like my cooperating teacher. They are also expecting me to only

speak English only in my class.

Learning is about acquiring and applying new knowledge to effect change. This

change could be related to the execution of a skill, the demonstration of understanding,

or a shift in behavior and attitudes. I believe that learning can lead you to success on

whatever path you are going to take. Learning is essential in our lives, so without

learning, living would be so difficult since knowledge is our weapon and our key to

success I am expecting to learn a lot from this Student Teaching Program. I can use the

knowledge that I learned previously

17
Reflection on Classroom Observation

My practice teaching experiences taught me a lot about teaching and learning.

This journey also made me realize a lot of things. Being exposed to this kind of learning

is effective. My time as a student teacher, made me learn a lot that I can use in the

future when I finally become a teacher. The teaching internship provided me with a real-

world learning environment in which I learned through teaching the students. I learned a

lot of things inside the school I was deployed, including the workloads of the teachers,

students’ behavior, teaching strategies, and approaches, and the relationship between

the teachers and the students.

When it comes to students’ behavior, understandably, they have differences and

they behave differently. Most of the students behave well and are respectful, industrious,

and kind, but some are stubborn and disrespect their teachers. One of the things that I

learned is the student’s behavior. My cooperating teacher always makes me understand

the reason why students behave that way, maybe because of the need for attention

he/she is longing from their home or it can be because of the environment he/she is

exposed to. We must know our students very well because it will help us provide them

with their needs mentally and emotionally.

The classroom environment is a blend of the social, emotional, and instructional

elements of a class. It is more than just a classroom—it's a space in which students feel

safe and supported in their pursuit of knowledge, as well as inspired by their

18
surroundings. Creating a positive classroom environment helps improve attention,

reduce anxiety, and support the emotional and behavioral regulation of students

because when educators foster a positive learning culture; learners are more likely to

acquire higher motivation which leads to wonderful learning outcomes.

As teachers, there are many things that we need to prepare. Mainly, the lesson

plan. It is a document that outlines the content of your lesson step-by-step. It's a list of

tasks that your students will undertake, to help guide your teaching. It is usually

prepared in advance and can either cover a one-off activity, an entire lesson, a unit or

course, a day, or a week. Lesson planning communicates to learners what they will learn

and how their goals will be assessed, and it helps instructors organize content,

materials, time, instructional strategies, and assistance in the classroom.

After the lesson, students were assessed to assess their knowledge about the

lesson. Assessment integrates grading, learning, and motivation for your students. It

provides valuable information about student learning. They tell us what students learned,

how well they learned it, and where they struggled. Most importantly, just as assessment

helps students, assessment helps teachers. Frequent assessment allows teachers to

see if their teaching has been effective. The assessment also allows teachers to ensure

students learn what they need to know to meet the course's learning objectives.

19
Sel-Assessment on Readiness in Actual Teaching

I am teaching the lesson because it is a required curriculum.

The curriculum is always changing and we teachers should always be ready to adapt to

it. Because following and using the curriculum in teaching provides us with a measurable

plan and structure for delivering quality education for learners. The curriculum also

identifies the learning outcomes, standards, and core competencies that students must

demonstrate before advancing to the next level.

In teaching the lesson, I hope to accomplish the development of the skill. Skills

must be developed because it is very vital for students. These skills will help kids figure

out their strengths and weaknesses quite early on in their lives. They'll learn with a clear

objective instead of focusing solely on passing exams and scoring high marks in the

short run as they will use it on another level of learning and difficulties and their daily

lessons.

The students are a range of abilities. Students have different learning styles.

Some are kinesthetic learners and some are visual learners. You can identify the

students through their abilities.

Teaching a lesson may take one period or block schedule. The topic must be

introduced to the students in a block schedule but the teacher needs to make sure that

his/her topic is concise and concrete. If the lesson is too long, the teacher may divide it

into two or three discussions.

To capture the student’s attention, it is helpful when teachers connect the lesson

to the student’s experiences wherein they can easily catch up and relate.

20
In teaching the lesson, teachers may use audio-visual and technology. This will

greatly help the teachers in engaging the student’s attention.

During the lesson, students may spend their time making activities and

experiments which may lead to students’ understanding of the lesson.

In assessing the students learning, the teacher may use quizzes or tests to find

out whether they understood the lesson or not. Their test scores will show if they learn.

Before the class period ends, the teacher must review the students and

summarize the lesson for the students to understand the lesson.

Enrichment activities are offered to enable the students to realize their potential

in a variety of settings beyond the classroom. Through educational enrichment

programs, students can develop a sense of self-awareness and understand their

schoolwork better with enrichment programs that are in line with the school curriculum. It

is counted and submitted according to my cooperating teacher’s policy.

I believe that the student’s response is the best way for me to know if I have

been effective or succeeded in teaching the lesson. If most or even all of my students

catch up with the lesson, and if they get high scores on their evaluation then I can

assume that they

understand the lesson and that I have been effective in teaching it.

A good lesson closure reviews what you've covered in a lesson and leaves a

lasting impression on your students. Lesson closures are a chance to emphasize key

information, allow your students to ask questions that have plagued them throughout the

process, and of course, inform your future instruction.
