PROJECT
Let’s cook tomato soup!
Do this project under the supervision of your mother / father.
• Take 500g ripe less sour tomatoes, 2 garlic cloves and 1 medium
sized onion.
• Wash the tomatoes well and cut it in cube shaped along with
one medium sized onion.
• Heat one tablespoon of oil or butter in a pan. Then, add 1 bay
leaf, 2 garlic cloves and the chopped onions.
• Fry them on a high flame for 3 or 4 minutes until they are slightly roasted.
1
• Add tomatoes and sprinkle teaspoon of salt. Cook them until slightly soft.

• Transfer to a blender jar and pour 1 cup water. Blend to a smooth puree.
• Place a sieve over the pan. Pour the blended mixture and filter. Bring the soup to a boil on medium
heat.
3
• Meanwhile add 4 cup of corn flour to half a cup of water and mix well to make a slurry.
• Once the tomato soup comes to a boil, simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Then, gradually stir in the corn flour
mixture.
• Stir in sugar. Boil this well until the tomato soup thickens and the raw flavor of the corn has gone.
Cook until it reaches your desired consistency.
• Add black pepper and red chili flakes as per your taste and garnish it with coriander. Now your tomato
soup is ready.

Larger Numbers
In our previous classes, we have studied the following pattern regarding the smaller numbers :
The number next to 9 (i.e. successor of 9) is 10, i.e., 9+1= 10
The number next to 99 (i.e. successor of 99) is 100, i.e., 99 + 1 = 100
The number next to 999 (i.e. successor of 999) is 1000, i.e., 999 + 1 = 1000
Let us extend the same pattern to get the larger numbers :

Numbers Next Numbers

9 (Largest 1-digit number) 10 (Smallest 2-digit number
99 (Largest 2-digit number) 100 (Smallest 3-digit number
999 (Largest 3-digit number) 1000 (Smallest 4-digit number
9999 (Largest 4-digit number) 10000 (Smallest 5-digit number
99999 (Largest 5-digit number) 100000 (Smallest 6-digit number
999999 (Largest 6-digit number) 1000000 (Smallest 7-digit number
9999999 (Largest 7-digit number) 10000000 (Smallest 8-digit number
99999999 (Largest 8-digit number) 100000000 (Smallest 9-digit number

We observe that the value of each place increases 10 times as we move one place from right to
left, i.e., ones to tens, tens to hundreds, hundreds to thousands, etc.
however, to read numerals of larger numbers without difficulty, we group the places into periods in
the place value chart.
These periods in the place value chart.
These periods are usually separated by commas (,)
There are two systems of place value chart, i.e., one is the Indian System of Numeration and the
other is International System of Numeration.
Qualitative Reasoning
Type I : Counting Figures
Directions (Q. 1 to 8) : Study the figures and answer the questions.

8. How many triangles are there in the Fig.?

(a) 10 (b) 8 (c) 5 (d) 4
