Write a few sentences explaining the purpose of the assignment and how the objectives
will be addressed and met.

What have you been asked to produce

I have been asked by pfc media to create and plan documentation and explain the
reasons for installing and maintaining software for the project and describe the user
requirements.

Pfc media wants me to create two different plans.

The first plan should include tests that I will carry out on the software

The second plan will include different installation and Maintenace activities that will be
carried out as well as modifying tools to be used.

I have been asked to come up with different options and provide reasons why the other
options were rejected.

Finally explain the purpose for installing and maintaining software.

Write a few sentences describing the purpose in relation to:

 Upgrade: win 7 to 10 – office 365

To improve the users, experience and to improve the productivity of the system due to
more functions and new features this will also improve the security of the system.
Security for systems improves for the company because windows 10 has better security
systems in place it has more in-built safety features it is also newer so there for there is
more up to date and easier to update.

 Compatibility: office 365

A file backwards and forwards compatibility in the brief an open office to office 365. It is
compatible with other office 365 programs/ products. It is easier for them to send stuff
over the internet through office 365, it would be more compatibility issues using open
office.

 Change in system functionality: Vector Based Image editor

The pfc media company needs more up to date vectors-based images editing software
due to the fact its important for the staff to be able to carry out their job role to a good
standard.

 Improve productivity, i.e., performance, speed, and reliability: win 7 to 10 – office

365, chrome extension

With windows 10 the difference is its more up to date so runs quicker and loads things
quicker, this thens improves the performance of the system there for improves the
productivity of the staff using it.

So, with office 365 you must improve productivity with the online services due to its
used-on cloud and easy to share files with other colleagues will enhance the
productivity of the company.

chrome extensions take away the pop-up Which make it easier and quicker and more
efficient because less time is wasted waiting for pop ups to appear.

Pfc wants to bring their software into the future by improving reliability, security and
productivity they will do this by upgrading windows from 7 to 10 to get a lot better
security system to the company PFC.

Open office will be upgraded to office 365 to improve user ability and security via online
work.

The concerns that PFC have about security since nothing has been kept up to date so
many updates will need to be carried out to make the software secure to use, a chrome
extension will be installed to create this extra layer of security. Pfc media can improve
the productivity by installing vector-based images editor so things can be edited to
make it easier for the user.

1. Search “GIMP install” in search engine this

should take you to their website.
2. Once on the website you should have the
option to either install from the Microsoft
store or download directly from the site.

left of your screen.

Alternative solutions and rejection reasons

Write a few sentences highlighting possible alternative solutions and the reasons
behind rejecting them such as constraints.

Photoshop could be one alternative idea but due to the price it is too expensive.

Linex has a lack of compatibility, but it would work it also causes training issues as the
user would need trained to use the software as its not common knowledge to know how
it works.

Conclusion of final upgrading choices

Detail your final upgrading choices and the effect of any constraints on the overall plan.

My upgrade is a lot better because of the money as it's cheaper, training is less time
and its a faster system for people to use.

It gives the user different tools and functions to use which then make it more user
friendly.

Rationale behind chosen decisions

have chosen different software resources and customization tools and techniques while
rejecting others. Making reference to the given purpose and the ‘client’ requirements.

I have chosen windows 10 and office 365 which has different tools and functions
because I believe that they would be better for the company to have more choices when
it comes to customization tools and techniques as this creates a user-friendly
environment.

I rejected the other choices because they were to expensive and they were not very user
friendly.
