Mastercard Formal Approval Services

Card Personalization Validation (CPV)


Information Request

Service Description
CPV is Mastercard's formal approval process to ensure that every technical chip card product offers a sufficient level of service,
acceptance, interoperability, performance, and security to cardholders and acceptance locations. CPV verifies the chip card
approval status from the functional, security, and quality perspectives and ensures that the card product is compliant with the
chip-related Mastercard payment product requirements and best practices.
CTC advanced as accredited Mastercard Service Provider offers the full range of CPV services (except EMVCo Common
Payment Application (CPA) based products) as described in the 'Card Personalization Validation Guide' published on
Mastercard ConnectTM.
This includes:
- Sample validation according to the "Sample Submission" process
- XML image validation according to the "Sample Submission" process
- "Change Notification Submission" process for personalization changes
The CTC advanced portfolio covers the whole range of M/Chip technologies including, M/Chip Advance, M/Chip advanced
based biometric cards, US Maestro and mobile products (Mobile PayPass M/Chip 4, M/Chip Mobile, MCBP).
Notes:
- HCE and DSRP are not covered in the CPV process
- CNS for MCBP must be reviewed by Mastercard

(1) For card products, a profile is one Mastercard application on one particular interface. Example: a dual-interface card with
a Mastercard Credit application and CAP requires validation of 3 profiles – MC Credit on contact, MC Credit on
contactless and CAP on contact.
(2) An iteration is a validation-cycle that typically starts with the reception of a CPV Service Form / Profile File and ends with
the submission of a positive CPV report (signed by Mastercard). If a validation-cycle fails, an additional iteration is
required.
(3) Prices do not include the legal VAT (Value Added Tax).
These services will be provided on basis of the General Terms and Conditions of CTC advanced GmbH.

Offer Request

A CTC advanced sales manager or project manager will send you an offer containing the project number of your
request.
The service contract between our companies gets valid only if you send us a purchase order and CTC advanced returns
an order confirmation.

Material to be provided by Customer


For cards and mobile samples submission:
- Product documentation (depending on the product (note 1, 2)):
- Mastercard CPV Service Form
- Mastercard Profile Advisor profile file (please use the latest rule set version)
- For Mobile PayPass: Mobile PayPass Personalization Template
- XML images:
- Optional, if card image validation is desired, the XML image(s) of your card samples or devices
- For Mobile PayPass products, XML files created with CIET for payment and management mode (note 1).
- Samples:
- For ID1 cards and UICC, 2 physical card samples
- For Biometric cards, 1 enrollment device and a guideline how to enroll a fingerprint on the sensor
- For mobiles with eSE, 1 device

For MCBP image validation:


- Mastercard CPV Service Form (note 1)
- XML image for contactless M/Chip and an XML image for contactless magnetic stripe (if supported)

For Change Notification Submission:


- CPV Change Notification Form (note 1)
- Letter of Equivalence, if appropriate (change to chip card)

Please assure that all these materials are provided to CTC advanced before the agreed service data.

Notes:
1. Please assure to always use and provide the latest templates published on Mastercard Connect TM.
2. MCA Profile Generator or Mobile PayPass Personalization Template must be pre-agreed with Mastercard.

Project Execution
A single project manager will care for your validation project, handling the complete communication and assisting in clarification
of any questions and/or issues you may have.
This contact person will be available for you during our business hours (7:00 am to 05:00 pm Central European Time).
Extended business hours can be offered on request.
CTC advanced will inform you immediately if problems or non-conformities are observed during the CPV validation.

Service Levels
Mastercard imposes service levels on their service providers to achieve a high quality CPV service with minimum delay for
customer projects. These are in detail:
Service Levels (SLA)
Process Standard Service High-Priority Service
CPV Process Initiation < 2 days 1 day
Card Image Validation < 5 days 4 days
Card Sample Validation with previous card image validation < 2 days 1 day
Card Sample Validation without previous card image validation < 7 days 5 days
CNS validation < 2 days 1 day

CTC advanced reserves the right to change these service levels in unforeseeable cases, e.g. if CTC advanced needs to
consult Mastercard or in case of any delays that are not caused by CTC advanced. This may require putting the
validation on hold until the issues are settled.
