Sports Opening Program Christian Revised

Palarong Wesleyan kicks off

Parade of Players marks the Opening Program of Palarong Wesleyan 2023, around 6:30 in the
morning today, this March 21.

The Parade of Players, was a sight to behold, as the athletes and their coaches, marched proudly
along the route, a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship and sports excellence.

Departments College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Accountancy, College of
Criminal Justice Education, and College of Education marched from North Gate while College
of Engineering and Computer Technology, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management,
and College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences marched from South Gate, all towards
Plaza Acacia.

President Benjamin Turgano appeared at the Program delivering a Word of Encouragement. He


emphasized expressing gratitude to the LORD for the intramurals the Wesleyan community is
able organize and attend to.

“Isa lang ang panalangin ko, at sana ito ang panalangin nating lahat, na ang sports activity na ito
ay isang pamamaraan para [magkaisa] at magbuklod-buklod ang buong Wesleyan University
community,” President Turgano said.

“Magkaroon tayo ng friendly competition. At the end of the day, tayo ay nagkakaisa. we will
prove that sportsmanship is still a virtue and reality in Wesleyan University,” the President
added.

Kenneth Magdangal of CHTM Phoenix leads both the Torch Lighting Ceremony and the
athletes' Oath of Sportsmanship.

A race then takes place when runners from all seven departments then compete over who raises
their flag first in the university gymnasium, whereas CONAMS Lion placed first. This event is a
major highlight of the academic year, highlighting the fierce competition and spirit of excellence
between the departments.

The second part of the program showcases the chants of colleges, with the most outstanding
chant to be given a Special Award. It also showcases the competition for Mr. and Ms. Palaro;
and Dance Sports.

The conclusion of the Opening Program marks the start of sports competitions on various sites.
