I. Learning Gaps/ Situation

The ability to read is fundamental in our students’ learning including

their development of broader literacy skills, and to their future successful
participation in society, including the workforce. Hence, it is very imperative
that our students know how to read as well as have the skills needed to better
comprehend what they are reading. To attain this goal, DepEd shall
strengthen the Every Child A Reader Program (ECARP) and intensify its
advocacy for reading into Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs Initiatives) to
make every learner a reader at his/her grade level. However, there are factors
delaying the learners to excel on this matter. Family problems, hereditary,
socio-economic factors, and the like are some to consider.
Through the conduct of Phil-IRI (Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory), Bayaoas Integrated School was able to measure and describe the
reading performance of their learners. Based on the consolidated results of
the Reading Brigade, there are two (2) Non- Readers identified, one (1) from
Grade 7 and the other is in Grade 8, who will undergo Reading Remediation.

II. Objectives

 Equip learners with reading skills to make them become

proficient and independent readers in their grade level
 Nurture a culture of reading in schools and communities; and
 Achieve a Zero-NR this S.Y. 2020-2021 or at least decrease its
number.

III. Intervention

Through the B.I.S. PRIDE (Program for Reading Improvement through

Distance learning Education), reading capabilities of students can be
monitored and followed up despite the new normal situation.
There are meaningful ways of reaching out our target readers such as
giving printed reading materials, making use of the school’s reading kit, and
conducting home visitations if necessary depending on the agreement of the
reading teacher/adviser and the learner's parent/guardian. Learners will be
monitored through text messaging, phone calls, facebook messenger or in
any platforms available. Incentives will be given as a reward if improvement
was demonstrated.

IV. No. of Learners

There are two (2) students who has been reported as non-readers.

It is indeed a great struggle for the school and for the involved
learners to undergo such program, considering this time of COVID-19
Pandemic. Continuous effort, time and resources were needed to attain the
school’s reading program objectives.
