Hello! Good morning everyone. Let me introduce my self. My name is Gita Ayu Kusuma I’m
a student at Taruna Madani High School. I am going to perform my story the title is
Sangkuriang The Legend Of Tangkuban Perahu From West Java.

Sangkuriang
Once upon a time, there was a princess, was named Dayang Sumbi who was known for her
beauty , intelligence, but she was also famous for her spoiled nature. One day when Dayang
Sumbi was weaving, she accidentally dropped her thread on the floor many times.
“ Oh My Goodness! the thread dropped again ,I promise, whoever it is, if someone brings the
thread that fell to me, if a male, I will marry you, if a female , I will make you my sister’’.
Dayang Sumbi said. Suddenly a dog came and brought a thread. He was tumang. Dayang
Sumbi had to marry tumang. They were blessed with a handsome son. Is called Sangkuriang .
In the course of Sangkuriang's growth, Sangkuriang's life was always accompanied by
Tumang, who he knew was just an ordinary dog who always faithfully accompanied him. not
his real father. Sangkuriang developed and grew into a handsome and dashing young.
One day Dayang Sumbi wanted to eat deer meat “Sangkuriang ! I really wants to eat deer
meat. Now go to forest and take Tumang with you’’. “All right, mom’’
Arriving Sangkuriang in the forest. Sangkuriang didn’t find any animals “If I don't bring the
deer, then I am very forced to release this arrow at Tumang in exchange for game that I never
get”. Then Sangkuriang pointed his arrow at Tumang and yes Tumang finally died.
As soon as Sangkuriang arrived home, he immediately handed over Tumang's meat to his
mother. After that, Dayang Sumbi remembered Tumang.
“Where is Tumang? Sangkuriang, come here!”
“Yes mom?”. Dayang Sumbi,“ Where is Tumang?”. Sangkuriang “I'm sorry mom, Tumang
has died in my hands”. “What are you saying?!”.”Get out of this house!”.Dayang Sumbi hit
Sangkuriang's head. And Sangkuriang left his house.
Several years passed, Sangkuriang decided to return his home. Then he reunited with his
mother, but did not know each other.
Sangkuriang “Hi, lady. Will you marry to be my wife?”.Dayang Sumbi, “All right, I'm ready
to be your wife.”
One day Sangkuriang asked for help to tidy up his headband, Dayang Sumbi was surprised to
Sangkuriang's head very clear scar on his headband.
“Sangkuriang, why is there a scar on your head? What's that scar?”.“This scar on my head, I
used to be hit by my mother. Because I have killed my beloved dog.”
Dayang Sumbi “ Oh Lord…! you are Sangkuriang my son”
Dayang Sumbi grew bigger.
“How about this? I can't marry my own child. I have to find a way to derail our marriage”
Dayang Sumbi said in her heart.
“Sangkuriang. I want to say the truth that you are my son. You are my son. I used to hit your

“You are lying! You just don't love me do you? That's why you make up stories that are not,

After Dayang Sumbi explained about herself, her son and Tumang, Sangkuriang still refused
to listen and insisted on marrying Dayang Sumbi. Dayang Sumbi thought hard to find a way
to make her marriage with her son fail.
“okay I'm willing to be your wife on condition”. ” what is it?”,“I want you to build a dam and
a boat for me. You must be able to fulfill these conditions before dawn arrives.”
Sangkuriang “Okay! I will carry out all the requirements that you put forward.”
Then he exerted all his supernatural powers and summoned the genies to build a dam and a
boat for him. When Sangkuriang's work was in progress, Dayang Sumbi used a trick, by
waking the women to pound rice as a sign that dawn had arrived.
Sangkuriang stopped doing his work, and the genies ran screaming. “OWHH NOO! DAWN
HAS ARRIVED , RUN RUN!”. Thinking that dawn had arrived. But Sangkuriang realized
that this was just a trick from Dayang Sumbi. Sangkuriang was angry and cursed Dayang
Sumbi then he destroyed the half-finished dam he had built with his genies. Sangkuriang
kicked the boat and fell upside down. The boat formed a Mount Tangkuban Perahu.
So here we can learn to be honest, because honestly will bring goodness and happiness in the
future. Cheating acts will harm oneself and can bring disaster to oneself or others.
