Thank you for seeing Mrs Zena Carter (DOB10/09/1954), age 68 yrs, for opinion and
management. She has been noted to have iron deficiency which has not responded to oral
supplementation. Zena does not eat red meat but her ferritin since 2004 has been in the 30s.
Bloods last year show it had dropped to 22. She has been on Maltofer for 3 months now and
increased iron rich foods and this has made no difference. She is feeling very tired. I think she
requires gastroscopy and colonoscopy and she would love an iron infusion. She has private health
care and wouldl ike to do rapid access.
