1. Title Bar- At the very top of the screen is the title bar. The title bar will tell
you the name of the file (I.e., Document1) and the application you are currently
using.
2. Minimize will minimize Microsoft Word and place it at the bottom of your
screen on the Task Bar
3. Close will close Microsoft Word as well as your document
4. Maximize will increase the size of the window
5. File Tab - the File tab is a section on the Office Ribbon that gives you access
to file functions.
6. Quick access Tool Bar- located to the right of the Microsoft Office. Button.
It contains commands that are used most often, for example Redo, Undo and
Save.
7. Ribbon - is a command bar that organizes a program's features into a series
of tabs at the top of the screen. Ribbon tabs are composed of groups of closely
related commands, designed to help users quickly find desired commands.
8. Dialog Box Launcher - is a small window that a program pop open to
request input from the user.
9. Ruler- is a measurement tool found with some software programs that allow
the program's user to align graphics, text, tables, or other elements on a page.
When enabled, the horizontal ruler appears at the top of the document, and the
vertical ruler on the left.
10. Status Bar- gives you important information about where you are in a
document and which features are currently enabled. The left side of the status
bar shows the location of the insertion point, specifying the page and section
numbers, the current and total page count and the line number and column
number.
11. Working area- is the layout of commands in the screen available to the user.

12. Documents Name- provides an easy-to-read title for all students using a
screen reader.
13. View buttons- are a feature that lets you change how the presentation or
document appears.
14. Scroll Bar- is located in the non-client area of a window. It is created with the
window and displayed. The sole purpose of a standard scroll bar is to enable the
user to generate scrolling requests for viewing the entire content of the client area.
15. Zoom Control- it enlarges the size of text whereas applying the zoom-out
operation reduces the size of text.
II. What are the five groups related command under the home tab? (10 Points)
ANSWER:
The Home tab is the default tab in Microsoft Word. It has five groups of
related commands;
1. CLIPBOARD - The clipboard is the first group on the home tab in MS Word.
It collects the contents after cutting or copying then pasting the contents you
want. This group includes the commands Cut, Copy, Paste, and Format
Painter.
2. FONT - font is the second group of the Home Tab in MS Word. It is useful to
format the text in different ways.
3. PARAGRAPH - The paragraph is the third group of the Home Tab in MS
Word. It is useful to format the paragraph in different ways.
4. STYLES - are the fourth group of the Home Tab in MS Word. It is a pre-
formatted style used to apply the formatting wherever you want.
5. EDITING - is the last group on the home tab. The commands of this group
are found, Replace, and Select. The command “Find” is used to find the text,
comments, pictures, etc. in a word document.
