Assalamualaikum w.b.t. My name is Muhammad Wafiq bin Shahrulakmar.

So, for my
video today I will tell the findings from the group work that has been done this semester. For
the subject of English Development and Engagement, we were given an assignment by our
lecturer to do a mini documentary. Members of this mini documentary are chosen by
students. I have chosen group number one as my group. My group consists of ten members of
which I myself, Fauzul Hasinah as the leader of our group, Nur Aliah Atiqah, Noor A’isyah,
Ahmad Nurrasyid, Muhd Zainul Azri, Muhammad Firdhaus, Muhammad Zulhusni, Amirul
Arif and Ahmad Hanif. For our group, we have divided into three small groups to facilitate
group work where the proposal teams, execute team and presentation team. Proposal team
will create and present the early proposal for the mini documentary project, execution team
will be assigned with the documentary producing process, their will create the documentary
based on the vision and storyline provided by the proposal team and presenter team will be
the one who present the final documentary and explaining the whole project during final
presentation.

So, what is a documentary? Documentary is a creative work of non-fiction. It creates

a record of a true story. A documentary can be in a video form or audio recording, such as
movie or radio program. While a true crime documentary is a collection of a nonfiction
literary, podcast, and film genre in which the author examines an actual crime and details the
action of real people. The crimes most commonly include murder and 40 percent focus on
tales of serial killers as the investigation process usually took a long period of time.

Our group decided to go with this genre is because the tension it has during the
process of uncovering true crime investigation. At some moment, it may become spooky
because of the untold story behind every crime. This group has chosen the unsolved mystery
case “The Whitechapel Murderer” that happen in London around the year of 1888. So, our
objective in the making of this documentary is to discover the murder among the reliable
source of suspects, to investigate the main motive of the murderer and last but not least to
inform and educate public about serial killer.

Let me tell you who is “Jack the Ripper”. Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial
killer active in the impoverished districts in and around Whitechapel in the East End of
London in 1888. In both criminal case files and the contemporary journalistic accounts, the
killer was called the Whitechapel Murderer and Leather Apron. Attacks ascribed to Jack the
Ripper typically involved female prostitutes who lived and worked in the slums of the East
End of London. Their throats were cut prior to abdominal mutilations. The removal of
internal organs from at least three of the victims led to proposals that their killer had some
anatomical or surgical knowledge. Rumours that the murders were connected intensified in
September and October 1888, and numerous letters were received by media outlets and
Scotland Yard from individuals purporting to be the murderer. The name "Jack the Ripper"
originated in a letter written by an individual claiming to be the murderer that was
disseminated in the media. The letter is widely believed to have been a hoax and may have
been written by journalists in an attempt to heighten interest in the story and increase their
newspapers' circulation. The "From Hell" letter received by George Lusk of the Whitechapel
Vigilance Committee came with half of a preserved human kidney, purportedly taken from
one of the victims. The public came increasingly to believe in a single serial killer known as
"Jack the Ripper", mainly because of both the extraordinarily brutal nature of the murders
and media coverage of the crimes.

Throughout this mini -documentary, all members of the group cooperated well and
helped each other. All activities will be discussed in advance to get a consensus among our
group members. This documentary was done by interviewing the UTHM police to get more
information if such a case occurs on campus. YouTube and Google are also our main sources
when searching for information on "Jack the Ripper". In terms of time for us a group to
complete this task was sufficient. Our lecturers also provide assistance throughout doing this
assignment.

What has I learned from this crime mini documentary? First is always be alert with
your surroundings. Learning to be constantly aware of your surroundings should be an
attribute that everyone should possess. Unfortunately, due to the stress from school and work,
most people go about their daily activities absent-minded and do not pay much attention to
very important details which can be the difference between life and death. True crime shows
help to increase your situational awareness. This can help you react quickly when you feel
there is imminent danger.

What personal development have you experienced? As I made this mini documentary,
I found that I myself knew better how to manage time by making schedules. The schedule
made by me is to avoid the occurrence of additional tasks at the same time that lead to the
occurrence of stress. This schedule makes all the assignments given by the lecturer more
organized and run according to the plan that has been set.
One experience I had while making a mini documentary with my team members was
to constantly discuss to solve a problem. Due to the busy schedule and insufficient time to
make discussions, there are often misunderstandings between us as a group. The solution
taken to curb the problem is to communicate often through WhatsApp groups and solve the
problem as soon as possible. for me there were no major changes taken by me while making
this mini documentary. By not making changes, I think it is a right and correct choice.

For conclusion, this mini documentary was created to discover the murder among the
reliable source of suspects, investigate the main motive of the murderer, and inform and
educate the public about a serial killer. To accomplish this goal, our team conducted a search
for a live interview with the case, gathered proof photographs related to the case, and
wrapped up the search in the documentary. Next, we gather as much information as possible
about this case, such as evidence or images, for the executive strategy. We will look for
information on Google and study and take information from YouTube sources, where we will
see instances of documentary videos available on YouTube. We'll also conduct an interview
with police officers to ask them broad questions about the case. Besides that, we expected
that the final thing we would learn from this little documentary project would be the identity
of the suspected murderer among the over 100 identified suspects. The next step is to fully
comprehend the case's motivation. Finally, to inform and educate the public about serial
killers and how the instances are related.

Before I end my video, I want to say thank you again to my English Development and
Engangement lecturer Ts. Dr Norfauzi and Mr Afif for helping me and my teammate to
accomplish our objective during the making of our mini documentary. Not to forget also my
teammates who have worked hard to complete this mini documentary. So, I think that all
from me for this video. Byebye and Assalamualaikum.
