manage, integrate,
evaluate, create and
communicate
information in order to
function in a knowledge
society (Guro 21, 2011)
• Refers to the use of
technology in
teaching and
learning.
• Includes both the
non-digital(flip
charts, pictures,
models, realias,
etc.) and digital
Realia

utilize, share and create
contents using information
technologies and the
Internet(Cornell University)
• According to American
Library Association (2018),
digital literacy is the ability to
use information and
communication, requiring
both cognitive and technical
skills
• Is any type of learning that is accompanied by
technology or by instructional practice that makes
effective use of technology
• It encompasses the application of a wide spectrum of
practices which included blended learning or virtual
learning
• It can come as online or off-line which utilizes digital
technology
Virtual learning is a learning experience that is enhanced
through utilizing computers and/or the internet both
outside and inside the facilities of the educational
organization.
The instruction most commonly takes place in an online
environment.
Blended Learning is a style of education in which
students learn via electronic and online media as well as
traditional face-to-face teaching.
Use of Internet Connection to access the information needed
• Digital technologies are electronic tools, systems, devices and
resources that generate, store or process data.
• Well known examples include social media, online games,
multimedia and mobile phones.
Digital applications(DIGAP/Apps)
An example of a digital tool would be one of the many apps used to
track student behavior on a tablet or mobile device.
*Digital tools and resources are different because they are not used
to teach or reinforce but as a way to help teachers deliver instruction,
organize, manage the classroom, or assess students.
Common example of online digital tool/app
Skype is a telecommunication application
software product that specializes in providing
video chat and voice calls between computers,
tablets, mobile devices via Internet and to
regular telephones
Facebook Messenger is a mobile app that
enables chat, voice and video communications
between the social media site's web-based
messaging and smartphones. (Specific
capabilities vary according to the user's device
and geographic location.) Messenger is
available for iOS, Android, Windows 10 and
Blackberry devices and can connect through Wi-
Fi or a mobile data plan.

• Software is a set of instructions, data or programs used
to operate computers and execute specific tasks.
• Opposite of hardware, which describes the physical

on a device.
• Software can be thought of as the variable part of a
computer and hardware the invariable part.
• Is a sequential or
simultaneous use of variety
of media formats in a given
presentation or self-study
program(Smaldino, 2005)
• The Internet is a global networking infrastructure that
connects millions of computers together, forming a
network in which any computer can communicate with
any other computer as long as they are both connected

World Wide Web is a layer using different protocols on
the internet, the internet facilitates global
communication between devices.
