ABSTRACT

In our project, on BUCKET LIST SYSTEM we have tried to show how the data/ information
in bucket list/wish list is managed. A bucket list is a list of things that one has not done
before but wants to do before dying. This has been achieved by dividing the project into
various modules. The person is provided with different services like enter your date of goal,
display the wishlist, modify the date of goal, delete the date of goal, etc. This project is
implemented using the technique of variable length record.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 OVERVIEW

The "Bucket List Management System" has been developed to override the problems
prevailing in the practicing manual system. This software is supported to eliminate and, in
some cases, reduce the hardships faced by this existing system. Moreover, this system is
designed for the particular need of the company to carry out operations in a smooth and
effective manner. The application is reduced as much as possible to avoid errors while entering
the data. It also provides error message while entering invalid data. No formal knowledge is
needed for the user to use this system. Thus, by this all it proves it is user-friendly.
Bucket List Management System, as described above, can lead to error free, secure, reliable
and fast management system. It can assist the user to concentrate on their other activities rather
to concentrate on the record keeping. Thus, it will help organization in better utilization of
resources. Every organization, whether big or small, has challenges to overcome and
managing the information of Date of Goal, Display My Wish List Before You Die[List], Modify,
Search. Every Bucket List System has different Bucket List needs; therefore, we design
exclusive aspirants management systems that are adapted to your managerial requirements.
This is designed to assist in strategic planning, and will help you ensure that your organization is
equipped with the right level of information and details for your future goals. Also, for those busy
executives who are always on the go, our systems come with remote access features, which
will allow you to manage your workforce anytime, at all times. These systems will ultimately
allow you to better manage resources.
The purpose of Bucket List Management System is to automate the existing manual system
by the help of computerized equipment’s and full-fledged computer software, fulfilling their
requirements, so that their valuable data/information can be stored for a longer period with
easy accessing and manipulation of the same. The required software and hardware are easily
available and easy to work with. Bucket List Management System, as described above, can
lead to error free, secure, reliable and fast management system. It can assist the user to
concentrate on their other activities rather to concentrate on the record keeping.
Thus, it will help organization in better utilization of resources. The organization can
maintain computerized records without redundant entries. That means that one need not be
distracted by information that is not relevant, while being able to reach the information. The

aim is to automate its existing manual system by the help of computerized equipment’s and
full-fledged computer software, fulfilling their requirements, so that their valuable
data/information can be stored for a longer period with easy accessing and manipulation of
the same. Basically, the project describes how to manage for good performance and better
services for the clients.
This bucket list management system is an online website so it is easily available to everyone.
When a person wants to create bucket list, he has to register to the system if he is new. user
registration is very easy, to get register to the system he has to fill up name. After
submission, he can create bucket list. user have to give information like name, description,
category, etc. user can also change his bucket list information when he wants using his user
Goal number.
Using this bucket list system people can search bucket list available which they are needed.
They check it online using our bucket list management website.
The process of building systems has always been complexing with system becoming larger,
the costs and complexities get multiplied. So, the need for better methods for developing
systems is widely recognized to be effective and the applied model should meet a few basic
requirements.
 The model should be structured and cover the entire system development process
from feasibility study to programming, testing and implementation.
 The model should utilize established methods and techniques like database designs,
normalizations and structured programming techniques.
 The model should consist of building blocks, which define tasks, results and
interfaces.
 The model should separate the logical system from the physical system.

 Documentation should be a direct result of the development work and should be

concise, precise and as non-redundant as possible.

CHAPTER 2
SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Analysis can be defined as breaking up of any whole so as to find out their nature, function
etc., it defines design as so make preliminary sketches. System analysis and design can be
characterized as a set of techniques and processes, a community of interests, a culture and
intellectual orientation.
System analysis is an important phase of any system development process. The system is
studied to minutest detail and analyzed. A system analysis places an important role of an
integrator and dwells deep into the working the present system. The system is studied and
viewed as a whole and the input to the system are identified. The various tasks in the system
analysis include the following:
 Understanding application

 Planning

 Scheduling

 Developing candidate solution

 Performing trade studies

 Performing alternative solution

 Performing cost benefit analysis

 Selling of system

System Analysis is a separation of a substance into parts for study and their implementation and
detailed examination. Before designing any system, it is important that the nature of the business
and the way it currently operates are clearly understood. The detailed examination provides the
specific data required during designing in order to ensure that all the client's requirements are
fulfilled. The investigation or the study conducted during the analysis phase is largely based on
the feasibility study. Rather it would not be wrong to say that the analysis and feasibility phases
overlap. High-level analysis begins during the feasibility study. Though analysis is represented
as one phase of the system development life cycle (SDLC), this is not true. Analysis begins with
system initialization and continues until its maintenance. Even after successful implementation of
the system, analysis may play its role for periodic maintenance and up gradation of the system.

Dept. of ISE, EWIT Page 5

BUCKET LIST MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 2021-2022

One of the main causes of project failures is the inadequate understanding, and one of the
main causes of inadequate understanding of the requirements is the poor planning of system
analysis.
Analysis was done by keeping in mind the two modules of the project. The Analysis part of the
project was the user module. Users of this application may or may not have much computer
knowledge, so we mainly focused on our design, which had to be as user friendly as possible.
The next important thing was to provide user level security. It was necessary to provide privacy
to community members. Another thing was the appearance of the application; it had to be made
pleasant and decent enough to attract the user. Last but not the least, was to provide the
authorities to the administrators. Proper validations where to be implemented of the
registration-form.

CHAPTER 3

REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATION

3.1 INTRODUCTION

To be used efficiently, all computer software needs certain hardware components or the other
software resources to be present on a computer. These pre-requisites are known as (computer)
system requirements and are often used as a guideline as opposed to an absolute rule. Most
software defines two sets of system requirements: minimum and recommended. With
increasing demand for higher processing power and resources in newer versions of software,
system requirements tend to increase over time. Industry analysts suggest that this trend plays
a bigger part in driving upgrades to existing computer systems than technological
advancements.
The software and hardware requirements are very important to be generally required to the
system and work is being done in accordance to the matter for designing a particular computer
architecture, the power of central processing unit is a fundamental requirement for the
computer, to be used in a very alternatively manner it’s important to work in an orderly manner
that can be generally categorized and worked with increasing demand for high processing
power and resources of attest versions with increasing over a period of time.

3.2 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

The most common set of requirements defined by any operating system or software application
is the physical computer resources, also known as hardware. A hardware requirements list is
often accompanied by a hardware compatibility list (HCL), especially in case of operating
systems. An HCL lists tested, compatibility and sometimes incompatible hardware devicesfor
a particular operating system or application. The following sub-sections discuss the various
aspects of hardware requirements.

3.3 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Software Requirements deal with defining software resource requirements and prerequisites
that need to be installed on a computer to provide optimal functioning of an application. These
requirements or pre-requisites are generally not included in the software installation package
and need to be installed separately before the software is installed.

CHAPTER 4

SYSTEM DESIGN

4.1 INTRODUCTION

System design is the process of defining the architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and
data for a system to satisfy specified requirements. System design could see it as the application
of systems theory to product development. There is some overlap with the disciplines of
systems analysis, systems architecture and systems engineering.
If the broader topic of product development "blends the perspective of marketing, design, and
manufacturing into a single approach to product development," then design is the act of taking
the marketing information and creating the design of the product to be manufactured. Systems
design is therefore the process of defining and developing systems to satisfy specified
requirements of the user.
System design is one of the most important phases of software development process. The
purpose of the design is to plan the solution of a problem specified by the requirement
documentation. In other words, the first step in the solution to the problem is the design of the
project.
The design of the system is perhaps the most critical factor affecting the quality of the software.
The objective of the design phase is to produce overall design of the software. It aims to figure
out the modules that should be in the system to fulfill all the system requirements in an efficient
manner.
The design will contain the specification of all these modules, their interaction with other
modules and the desired output from each module. The output of the design process is a
description of the software architecture.

4.2 DATA FLOW DIAGRAM

A DFD, in simple words, is a hierarchical graphical model of a system that shows the different
processing activities or functions that the system performs and the data interchange among these
functions. In the DFD terminology, it is useful to consider each function as a process that consumes
some input data and produces some output data.

CHAPTER 5

IMPLEMENTATION

5.1 INTRODUCTION

Bucket List Management System (BLMS) is a browser-based system that is designed to store,
process, retrieve and analyze information concerned with the administrative and inventory
management within a bucket list. This project aims at maintaining all the information
pertaining to bucket list, different goals available in each bucket list and help them manage in
a better way. Aim is to provide transparency in this field, make the process of obtain Goal no,
Goal Name, Description, Category, Target Date, Status, etc,. Bucket List management
effective.
Implementation is the realization of application, or execution of plan, idea, model, design,
application, standards, algorithm, or policy. In other words, an implementation is a realization
of technical specification or algorithm as a program, software component, or other computer
System through programming. Many implementations may exist for the given specification or
standards Implementation is one of the important phases of the Software Development Life
Cycle (SDLC). It encompasses all processes involved in getting new software or hardware
operating properly in its environment, including installation configuration, running, testing and
making necessary changes. Specifically, it involves coding the system using a particular
programming language and transferring the design into actual working system. This phase of
system is conducted with the idea that whatever is designs should be implemented, keeping in
mind that it fulfills user requirements, objectives and scope of the system. The implementation
phase produces the solution to the user problem.

CHAPTER 6

SYSTEM TESTING

6.1 INTRODUCTION

The testing phase is an important part of software development. It is the processes of finding
errors and missing operations and also complete verifications to determine whether the
objectives are requirements are satisfied. Software testing is carried out in three steps.
The first step includes unit testing where in each module is tested to provide its correctness, to
determine any missing operations and to verify whether the objectives have been met. Errors are
noted down and corrected immediately. Unit testing is the important and major part of the
project. So, errors are rectified easily in particular modules and program quality is increased.
In this project, entire system is divided into several modules.
Second step include integration testing. If we need not be the case that software whose modules
when run individually and showing perfect result with also show perfect result as whole. The
individual modules are clipped under this major module and tested again and verified the
results. A module can have inadvertent, adverse effect on any other on the global data structure
causing serious problems. Levels in testing:
 Unit testing

 Integration testing

 Validation testing

6.2 LEVELS OF TESTING

6.2.1 UNIT TESTING

Unit testing is a method by which individual units of source code, sets of one or more computer
program modules together with associated control data, usage procedures, and operating
procedures, are tested to determine if they are fit for use. Intuitively, one can view a unit as the
smallest testable part of an application. In object-oriented programming a unit is often an entire
interface, such as a class, but could be an individual method. For unit testing first we adopted the
code testing strategy, which examined the logic of program. During the development process
Dept. of ISE, EWIT Page 14
BUCKET LIST MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 2021-2022

itself all the syntax errors etc. got rooted out. For this developed test case that result in executing
every instruction in the program or module i.e., every path through program was tested.
User Input

User will be inputting all the data from using a web browser.

Error Handling

In this system, we have tried to handle all the errors that occurred while running the application.
the common errors we saw were reading a tuple with an attribute set to null and database
connection getting lost. For Testing we used Top-Down design a decomposition process which
focuses as the flow of control, at latter strategies concern itself with code production. The first
step is to study the overall aspects of the tasks at hand and break it into a number of independent
modules. The second step is to break one of these modules further into independent sub modules.

6.2.2 INTEGRATION TESTING

Data can be lost across an interface, one module can have an adverse effect on the other sub
function, when combined may not produce the desired functions. Integrated testing is the
systematic testing to uncover the errors with an interface. This testing is done with simple data
and developed system has run successfully with this simple data. The need for integrated system
is to find the overall system performance.
Steps to perform integration testing:

Step 1: Create a Test Plan

Step 2: Create Test Cases and Test Data

Step 3: Once the components have been integrated execute the test cases

Step 4: Fix the bugs if any and re test the code

Step 5: Repeat the test cycle until the components have been successfully integrated

properly when all the modules are
integrated.
Test Data Sample text data

6.2.3 SYSTEM TESTING

Ultimately, software is included with other system components and the set of system validation
and integration tests are performed. System testing is a series of different tests whose main aim is
to fully exercise the computer-based system. Although each test has a different role all work
should verify that all system elements are properly integrated and formed allocated functions.

all functions properly linked.
Sample Input Sample data files
Expected Output All the modules like adding donor details,
searching donor details, etc;

Actual Output Application reacts to user inputs in

expected manner.
Remarks Successful

6.2.4 VALIDATION TESTING

At the culmination of black box testing, software is completely assembled is as a package.

Interfacing errors have been uncovered and the correct and final series of tests, i.e., validation
tests begin. Validation test is defined with a simple definition that validation succeeds when the
software function in a manner that can be reasonably accepted by the customer.

Dept. of ISE, EWIT Page 16

BUCKET LIST MANAGEMENT SYSTEM 2021-2022

6.2.5 OUTPUT TESTING

After performing validation testing, the next step is output testing of the proposed system. Since
the system cannot be useful if it does not produce the required output. Asking the user about
the format in which the system is required tests the output displayed or generated by the system
is required tests the output displayed or generated by the system under consideration. The
output format on the screen is found to be corrected as the format was designated in the system
has according to the user needs. As for the hard copy the output comes according to the
specification requested by the user. The output testing does not result in any correction in the
system.

6.2.6 TEST DATA AND OUTPUT

Taking various kind soft data plays a vital role in system testing. After preparing the test data
system under study is tested using the test data. While testing, errors are again uncovered and
corrected by using the above steps and corrections are also noted for future use.

6.2.7 USER ACCEPTANCE TESTING

User acceptance testing of the system is the key factor for the success of the system. A system
under consideration is tested for user acceptance by constantly keeping in touch with the
prospective system at the time of development and making change whenever required. This is
done with regard to the input screen design and output screen design.

CONCLUSION
The program was first tested among the developers and was finally with end users. The project
is finally obtained as a webpage. Despite the effort to make the best system there were still some
limitations for the current system to which solutions can be provided as a future development.
As for other future developments, the main aim of developing Bucket List management system
is to provide all information that is required to the user. User friendly is a must that is the user
must get the details without complicated searching procedures. Other important requirements of
software are data security extensibility and maintainability. All these features are included in the
application. The project greatly helped in understanding the various phases in File structure and
exposure to a new developer platform. The bucket list management system helps in easy
maintainability of data also aids in easy updating and removal of the unwanted data. This project
Overcomes all the disadvantages which were in the existing system and makes it easy and
effortless and less space consuming for managing huge amounts of data.
