"Tardiness and Academic Performance of Senior High School Students Repo

This document summarizes a study examining the factors that influence punctuality among university students in the Philippines. It first defines tardiness as arriving later than a scheduled or reasonable time. It then discusses several potential causes of tardiness according to previous research, including psychological factors, teachers' observations, and students' personal reasons. Finally, it outlines the impacts of tardiness, such as poor academic performance and inadequate preparation for future careers. The study aims to identify specific influences on punctuality among the student population.

"Tardiness and Academic Performance of

Senior High School Students Report".

Attending class and getting to school on time are two of the most important factors for a
student's success, not only as a student, but as someone who will be in charge of their
own life in the future. Given the importance of punctuality, this study aims to examine
and find out the factors that influence punctuality of UP students. This chapter describes
the background of our research. Includes facts about tardiness, the various factors that
cause tardiness, and the impact on students as students and agents of their future lives.
From authoritative research sources such as online journals and research papers, we
provide some facts and theories from authors, teachers, and celebrities to specifically
justify your research. First, let me give a definition of delay and some theory and facts
about it. It then discusses the various factors that cause students to be late for school,
psychology theories, teacher observations, and students' personal reasons. Finally, we
discuss the impact of being late not only on the student, but on the student's future and
others.

TARDINESS
As UP students, we are expected to excel in everything we do, especially
academically. One of the factors that determines the quality of a student's performance
is punctuality, arriving at school on time or being late. As quoted by Nakpodia and
Dafiaghor (2011), 'tardiness' can be defined as 'the situation in which a person arrives
after a reasonable, scheduled, or normal time' (Oxford Advance Learners' Dictionary, 5th
ed., 1995 2009), Lauby (2009)) formalized as a term used to describe “those who do not
show up on time”, Breeze et al. (2010) contributed to this by stating that tardiness is
synonymous with 'tardiness', meaning slow to act or react and not consistent with proper
or normal timing. Finally, Weade (2004) defined tardiness as ``being late for a
measurable amount beyond the scheduled or starting time of work or school''. In most
schools, a student is considered tardy if he or she is not present when the school bell
rings or when the first teacher begins delivering the material for the first subject in the
morning class. .One of the most common “frustrating problems” schools have with their
students today is tardiness (Sprick and Daniels, 2007). It causes problems not only for
students but also for teachers (Cowan Avenue Elementary School Community, 2007,
para. 1). Cowan Crier, CAESC's official school diary, points out that "occasional
tardiness" is not a big deal, but inevitable tardiness is and causes problems for students,
including poor preparation for the job market. According to U.S. Department of
Education findings, “truancy” related to lateness, attendance, and punctuality in school is
a major factor in student “success and behavior” (Zeiger, 2010, para. 1). Therefore, it is
very important to value your time and practice punctuality while studying. According to
CAESC (2007) and indicators (2010), the most important study hours of the day for
students are between 08:00 and 18:00 in the morning. 00-9: 30.30 pm This is because
students are most alert and attentive during this time. This is also why the most
important lessons and learning content will be discussed during this time. So if a student
is late or absent during that time, they will actually miss most of the important lessons to
consider and learn.
