threshold operate value and tripping time is the adjustable

quantity for threshold operate value and tripping time. The
ground current module operates when a value 1.1 times
the base current is exceeded. When setting the inverse

The output signals of the phase current module I>

(= 1.1IB) and the ground current module IN> (= 1.1INB or

starting signal is formed from the output signals of all
overcurrent modules. In this case the user can decide, by
means of the appropriate setting, whether the two ground

the general starting signal. If the device is set so that
operation of one of the two ground current modules does
not lead to the general starting signal, then the associated

Routine Functional Testing

The PS 451 digital protective device incorporates a very
extensive self-monitoring function for hardware and
software. The internal structure guarantees, for example,
that communication within the processor system will be
checked on a continuing basis.

Nonetheless, there are a number of subfunctions that

cannot be checked by the self-monitoring feature without
running a test from the device terminals to check the
respective device-specific properties and setting
parameters.

In particular, none of the control and signaling circuits run

to the device from the outside are checked by the self-
monitoring function.
