Section 2.1 Brief Revision Description

Chapter 2 Functionality

2.1 Brief Revision Description

Compared to the Advant Controller 450*2.3/7 (system software QC07*4.0/7) corrections in the
system software have been made of problems/errors in the following functions:
• Improved handling for object selection and timeouts when an Operator Station is
disconnected.
• Corrected handling when toggling IMPL terminal in the database element for S800 I/O
stations.
• Corrected handling for INV and BLOCKED functions when used together with S800 SOE
modules, e.g DI830, DI831and DI885.
• Corrected handling for re-transmit handling of subscriptions for SEQ objects that could
cause problems in Operator Stations, e.g. restart of RTA boards.

Please note that revision Advant Controller 450*2.3/6 and later revisions use up to 160KB
more memory compared to Advant Controller 450 *2.3./4. Meaning that this amount of
memory is reduced from memory available for the AMPL application program.
Further information is available at Your local ABB representative.

2.2 Product Notes

Support for LONWORKS Network and Functional Unit MOTCONI
The fieldbus LONWORKS Network and the Functional Unit MOTCONI are supported starting
from Advant Controller 450*2.3/1. Due to a stability problem with the interface we could not
release these functions for sale in the first revision of Advant Controller 450*2.3. The Status
Report SR 1026 documents further functional limitations and restrictions on the functionality.
HART
Pass-through of HART messages is supported.
This means that a system consisting of this release of Advant Controller 450 and Advant
Controller 410, S800 I/O modules with integrated HART, Advant On-line builder supporting
HART pass-through and Cornerstone (trademark, Applied System Technologies Inc.) with the
Advant/AC400 ComLib (trademark, Applied System Technologies Inc.) option make up a
highly integrated solution for configuration and maintenance of field instruments with HART
communication.

Advant Controller 450 – Release Notes
Section 2.2 Product Notes

Start-up of the Controller

During most of the initiation phase (from the ENTER button on the CPU is pressed to controller
is running) the indication “P –” is shown on the CPU displays (on the primary CPU of a
redundant pair). After the initiation phase is passed, the indication on the CPU displays are
changing to “P 1” (or “P 2”). As long as the indication on the CPU is “P –” the engineering
station must not be used since the internal structures of the controller has not yet been fully
established.
The elapsed time between ENTER is pushed and the controller is running (“P 1” or “P 2”) can
vary depending on the I/O configuration.
System without S800 I/O starts normally up within 1 - 2 minutes.
System with S800 I/O can take several minutes more to start-up. The more S800 I/O, the longer
time it takes.

S800 I/O
To keep the total memory consumption in the controller at a low level, the reserved memory
area in the database for S800 I/O modules (after the command DIMDB), is smaller than needed
when the database is fully filled in.
It is therefore recommended to dimension for 1 extra module of each S800 I/O module type (AI,
AO, DI and DO) that are used. If the memory still is too small, it must be redimensioned
(DIMDB) and some more modules added.
Advant Fieldbus 100
For cable redundancy on the twisted pair or optical media, the following rules apply to the
communication interfaces:
– With CI520, CI810 or PM810 cable redundancy is not possible.
– With CI520V1, CI810V1 (with software: CI810SW*1.2/1 or later) or PM810V1
cable redundancy can be used.
Data Set Peripheral
Short cycle times for Data Set Peripheral (DSP) communication (on Advant Fieldbus 100) in
combination with MasterBus 300 communication via SC510 or high load in the main CPU can
influence the DSP communication and cause missing updates of the data base in the Advant
Controller 450.
During these conditions, cycle times for Data Set Peripheral (DSP) communication less than
100 milliseconds are not recommended to use in Advant Controller 450.
If PC elements are used for communication on Advant Fieldbus 100 there is no influence from
MasterBus 300 communication or high load in the main CPU.

Advant Controller 450 – Release Notes
Section 2.2 Product Notes

PROFIBUS DP
The controller module for PROFIBUS DP, CI541V1, must not be inserted live in a running
submodule carrier (SC510 or SC520). The Advant Controller 450 may stall.
A live insertion can be done if the following sequence is performed:
1. Pull out the submodule carrier from the subrack
2. Placed the CI541V1 on the submodule carrier
3. Then make a live insertion of the submodule carrier with the CI541V1
Program card and redundant CPUs
In an Advant Controller 450 with single CPU it is recommended but not necessary to have the
program card with system software placed at its location in the subrack.
In an Advant Controller 450 with redundant CPUs the situation is different. If the Advant
Controller 450 is configurated for an automatic start-up after a power failure the program card
must be situated in the subrack. At such a start-up the back-up CPU reloads both the system
software (from the program card) and the AMPL application (from the primary CPU). Without
the program card the back-up CPU will not start-up and the redundancy is lost (the primary
CPU starts-up normally).

Submodules
A submodule (for example CI522A, CI543V01, CS513) can be moved on-line from one
position on a carrier to another position (on the same or another carrier), configured in the new
position and started. But it is not possible to move the submodule back to its original position
and start it up again. To use the original position a restart of the controller must be done.

Section 3.1 Installation of Hardware

Chapter 3 Installation

3.1 Installation of Hardware

Delivery Binder, tab 11 – Installation Procedures, contains valid installation information for the
delivered equipment.
Please also refer to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide and if applicable to HART Protocol
Interface, User’s Guide and Intrinsic Safety Support S100 I/O with Series 2000, User’s Guide.

3.2 Initial Installation of System Software

Please refer to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide.

3.3 Installation of Revised System Software

Please refer to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide.

3.4 Upgrading of System Software

Upgrade of the system software from a previous version (program modules QC02*7.0/x *8.0/x,
*9.0/x or QC07*3.0/x) to this version (program modules QC07*4.0) is done by installing the
new system software according to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide and by transferring the
application program as described below.

NOTE
It is necessary to change the CPU module to PM511V. Depending on which
function to be used after upgrading, also other hardware modules must be
exchanged. Further information is available at Your local ABB representative.

The system software version QC07 *4.0/7 use around 160 kilobyte more memory
compared to QC07 *4.0/4.

3.5 Transferring of Application Program

3.5.1 Between Revisions of System Software

Transfer of application program between different revisions of the system software (for
example from program modules QC07*4.0/x to program modules QC07*4.0/y) requires
normally Source Code Handling.
Please refer to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide.

3.5.2 Between Versions of System Software

Transfer of application program between different version of the system software (for example
from program modules QC02*8.0/x to program modules QC07*4.0/y) requires Source Code
Handling.

NOTE
Some DB elements have been changed between the QC02 and the QC07 versions of the system
software. Corresponding corrections must be done in the source code before the application can
be loaded.
Please refer to Advant Controller 450, User’s Guide.
