A song plays over the back until it fades out and the sound
of a tape being ejected is heard.
FADE TO BLACK

INT. CHURCH - DAY

MARGO sits inside a church on the left, middle side in a pew.

She is wearing an all black outfit and looks emotionless. She
stares straight forward at the front of the church where a
statue of the crucifixion is placed. No one else appears to
be in the church. There is no sound to be heard except
MARGO’S breathing.

EXT. CHURCH - DAY

MARGO walks outside the church with a black umbrella in her

hand. She takes one last glance at the church before walking
down the path.

EXT. PARK - DAY

As MARGO walks she comes across a park bench and decides to

sit down. She observes the scenery around her as the birds
sing and the nature's ambience can be heard.
Footsteps can be heard walking towards her. She doesn’t pay
any attention to the footsteps. She continues to look
forward, not paying attention.
GABE sits down across the otherside of the bench but doesn’t
look at MARGO, instead he looks forward similar to her and
listens to the noises around him.

GABE
(Still facing forward)
Not the best weather to be sitting outside.

MARGO seems to not notice GABE talking and continues to face

forward and not engage with his presence.

GABE
(Still facing forward)
Rough day?

MARGO looks towards him this time but just smiles weakly and
looks back towards the trees.

GABE
(Turning to MARGO)
Hey we don’t need to talk if you don't want to…but if you're
gonna be sat out here alone you’ve got to at least explain to
me why.

MARGO turns towards GABE looking slightly frustrated. She

pauses before she speaks.

MARGO
I could ask you the same question.

GABE
(Looking down at his hands and nodding)
True, true
(Looking back up at MARGO and pulling his mouth into a
straight line, shrugging his shoulders and putting his hands
out)
But I asked you first.

MARGO
It’s really none of your business.
GABE
I never said it was.

GABE looks forward again whilst MARGO continues to look at

him.

GABE
You know I’m just asking a question but if you really don’t
want to talk I can just leave.

MARGO
You know what that would be great please do.

GABE turns towards MARGO and holds his hands up in defence.

GABE
(Standing up)
Okay, chill I’m leaving.
(Turning around and Muttering)
God I was just trying to help.

MARGO looks up at GABE even more annoyed.

MARGO
Excuse me?

GABE is already a metre away from the bench.

GABE
(Shouting back whilst still walking)
Nothing.

MARGO watches him leave whilst she rolls her eyes at him.

FADE OUT

EXT. PARK - DAY

Open to GABE sat on the park bench. He is sitting and looking

around as if he is waiting for someone. He checks his watch
multiple times and looks slightly concerned as he looks
around.
MARGO walks towards the bench looking at her phone. About a
metre from the bench she looks up to see GABE sat there who
hasn’t seen her yet. She rolls her eyes and starts to walk
away, as she turns GABE notices her.

GABE
(Shouting)
Hey!

MARGO, still with her back to GABE, takes a deep breath and
forces a smile turning around.

MARGO
(Single wave)
Hey

GABE moves over on the bench and beckons MARGO over. She
looks around as if to see if there is any way she can get out
of talking to him.
She eventually sighs and begins walking towards him and sits
down on the opposite side of the bench.

GABE
Funny seeing you here again stranger.

MARGO
(CLearly annoyed)
Yeah

GABE
So… how come your back?

MARGO
I figured it was good spot to come and think
(Muttering under her breath)
Or so I thought.

Pause.

GABE
Are you gonna tell me about yesterday yet?

MARGO
(Confused)
Why are you so interested in my life?

GABE
I’m just trying to help, I figured I’d want someone to do the
same thing for me.

MARGO looks at the ground considering her options.

MARGO
(Sighing before speaking)
Fine. If you really want to know, I was at a funeral
yesterday.

GABE
(Bluntly)
Come on. I figured that out. You were in full black walking
away from a church.

MARGO looks at him offended.

MARGO
Jesus! What's your problem? You asked why I was upset and I
told you.

GABE
Yeah but I want to know the whole story. It’s got to be
someone close right. A relative, friend?

MARGO pauses before speaking and looks like she wants to kill
GABE.

MARGO
If you really have to know my mum happened to pass away about
two weeks ago.

GABE looks at her with wide eyes for a couple of seconds

before speaking again.

GABE
See it really wasn’t that hard was it.

MARGO clenches her fists.

MARGO
(Angry)
I thought you wanted to help…not make things worse.

GABE
Okay. Sorry I didn’t mean to upset you. I just wanted to
(waving his hands) lighten the mood.

MARGO looks at GABE unimpressed.

GABE
Okay I might not have lightened the mood (Shrugging) but I
have distracted you.
MARGO looks at GABE and smiles half heartedly

MARGO
Yeah. You kind of have actually.

They sit facing forward in silence for a bit until MARGO

turns back to face GABE.

MARGO
(Confused)
Wait, I never asked, why are you here again?
GABE
(shrugs)
I come here everyday.

MARGO
Oh…why?

GABE
(Holding hands up defensively)
I don’t know that's a bit personal.

MARGO gives GABE a deadpan look.

GABE
I’m joking, I’m joking…I guess I just enjoy meeting people.
Learning their stories.

MARGO
Like my story?

GABE
Exactly. It gives me something to do, people to talk to.
(Pause) it also gives you someone to talk to.

MARGO smiles gratefully at GABE.

GABE
You never told me your name by the way.

MARGO
I’m Margo.

GABE holds out his hand for MARGO to shake.

GABE
Nice to meet you Margo, I’m Gabe.
MARGO reaches out and shakes his hand.

FADES TO BLACK

EXT. PARK - EVENING

MARGO and GABE are sitting on the park bench. MARGO is

laughing about something GABE has said. They both look happy.

MARGO
(Laughing)
No chance did that actually happen
GABE
(Laughing)
I swear, it did. I told you earlier I hear a lot of stories.

MARGO continues to laugh, putting her face in her hands and

calming herself down. GABE looks at her and begins to slowly
stop laughing as well.
GABE looks at his watch.

GABE
(Muttering)
I should really get going.

MARGO
Wait, Give me your phone, let me put my number in.

GABE
(Standing up)
Nope.

MARGO looks up slightly startled.

MARGO
What do you mean no?

GABE
I don’t need your number. I'll see you here again.

MARGO
But what happens if I don’t come back or you don’t come back?

GABE
(Shrugging)
Then I guess my work here is done.

GABE starts to walk away. MARGO shouts after him.

MARGO
Wait, what is that supposed to mean?

GABE continues walking and we see a knowing smile on his

face.

FADE TO BLACK
EXT. PARK - DAY

MARGO walks along the path until she reaches the park bench
again. She sits down and waits.
