AIRPORT MOVEMENTS COMPILED BY CARL HOPE
Turkish Airlines Airbus A350-941 TC-LGI arrives at Manchester from Istanbul using the callsign ‘Turkish Airlines 1993’ on August 20, 2022.
Operating one of the airline’s twice-daily non-stop service to/from the Turkish city, the jet replaced the carrier’s typical A330. Wearing partial
Aeroflot colours, the nine-month-old jet was originally slated to be delivered to the Russian carrier as VP-BXS, but was then taken on by the
Turkish carrier following sanctions placed on Russia in light of its invasion of Ukraine in February Spencer Bennett

Queen Elizabeth II
– the world says goodbye
Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on September 19 was attended by some 500 heads of
state and dignitaries, including presidents, prime ministers and monarchs from across
the globe, making it one of the largest such gatherings since the memorial for former
South African president Nelson Mandela in 2013. The event attracted an array of civil
and military aircraft to London and beyond, some of which are illustrated here

a situation none of us should have to face; I came to the idea of handing to Ian the restoration of G-ADGT, an
aeroplane to which Thomas, Ian and I all had strong links, to help give him something positive to focus on rather
than the inevitable consequences of the accident. The aeroplane remains in Ian’s workshop, where his matchless
craftmanship is visible for all to see.

larger events and we’ll be completing the Tiger Moth flying training for two of this year’s Scholarship winners using
our G-AOIS at Bicester; Tiger Moth G-ANTE has also deployed to Bicester in support of our photoshoot events. Finest
Hour’s support to the Scholarship is a long-term commitment; we will continue for as long as Ian wants us to.
In memory of Thomas, I commissioned aviation artist Paul Couper to paint ‘Tom’s Tigers’, a representation of
G-ADGT and G-ANTE flying in formation over Thomas’ beloved Sywell. Prints are available for sale in support of the
scholarship from Ian or via the Finest Hour website, with one of the prints having pride of place in the Finest Hour
