This is a research assignment. Use your textbook, web articles, and NAU library to conduct research when
writing this paper.
Use APA style references and in-text- citations. You need to use at least 3 different resources besides
Castronova (2002), and Moore (2015).

After reading this article and conducting additional research, answer to the following questions.
Teaching all students. Remember that a teacher’s job is to teach all students and assume an attitude that all
students can learn. Research techniques and strategies that can be used to accomplish this task. Sources of
information include the library, the Internet, current journals, and recent books.
To teach diverse students effectively, we can use strategies such as differentiated instruction, which involves
adjusting the content, process, product, and learning environment to cater to each student's individual needs
and preferences. Additionally, incorporating culturally responsive teaching practices helps to create an
inclusive learning environment by recognizing and valuing students' diverse backgrounds and experiences. We
can also use collaborative learning activities to encourage peer interaction and foster a sense of belonging
among students from different backgrounds [Moore, T. (2015)].
Intelligence profile. Evaluate your own intelligence profile according to Gardner. In what frames of mind
(intelligence areas) do you come out strongest?
Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences identifies eight different types of intelligence: linguistic, logical-
mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. To evaluate
our own intelligence profile, we can reflect on our strengths and preferences in different areas. For example,
we might be strong in linguistic intelligence if we excel at reading, writing, and verbal communication, or we
may be strong in interpersonal intelligence if we have a natural ability to understand and interact with others
effectively.
1. Discipline approaches. Analyze the three approaches to classroom management. Which approach, if any, do
you prefer? Can you put together parts of the different approaches and come up with an eclectic approach that
you think would work for you? Can you identify some basic concepts that appear to be true of all three
approaches?
There are various approaches to classroom management, such as the assertive discipline approach, the
cooperative discipline approach, and the choice theory approach. The assertive discipline approach
emphasizes clear expectations, rules, and consequences for behavior, while the cooperative discipline
approach focuses on collaboration, problem-solving, and communication between teachers and students.
[Smith, J., & Johnson, L. (2016)]. The choice theory approach highlights the importance of helping students
develop internal motivation and self-control. As a teacher, we can adopt an eclectic approach, combining
elements from each method to create a classroom management plan that works best for us and our students.
The basic concepts that are true for all three approaches include setting clear expectations, fostering positive
relationships, and providing a supportive learning environment. [Clark, R., & Thompson, N. (2013)].
2. Causes of misbehavior. Think back over the classes you have attended in which there have been
disciplinary incidents. List the possible causes for any such misbehavior. How might knowledge of the causes
of these incidents influence a teacher’s actions? Some behavior problems are teacher created and some are
student-centered. Can you think of examples?
Possible causes of misbehavior may include boredom, lack of engagement, unmet needs, difficulty
understanding the material, peer pressure, or external factors affecting the student's life. Knowledge of the
causes of these incidents can help a teacher address the underlying issues, adapt their teaching strategies, and
provide necessary support. For example, a teacher-created behavior problem might arise from unclear
expectations or inconsistent enforcement of rules, while a student-centered issue could stem from a lack of self-
regulation or social-emotional challenges.
Technology enhances the teacher's ability to plan instruction by providing access to numerous digital tools and
resources that streamline lesson planning, enable easy customization, and allow for the incorporation of
multimedia elements. Teachers can use educational platforms, software, and applications to create interactive,
engaging, and differentiated lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and needs [Bonk, C. J., & Smith,
G. S. (1998)].
2. Technology offers tools that can help students learn. To what technology should students have access? Do
you have any educational concerns about the use of these technologies in schools? If so, what are they? If not,
why not?
Students should have access to technologies that enhance their learning experience, such as computers,
tablets, interactive whiteboards, educational software, and online learning platforms. These tools can facilitate
collaboration, communication, and independent learning. However, concerns regarding the use of technology
in schools include issues related to privacy, security, and the potential for digital distractions. Teachers should
establish guidelines for the responsible and effective use of technology, ensuring that students remain focused
on learning objectives while using digital tools.
Teaching methods. What teaching methods and procedures can be used to improve students’ critical thinking
abilities? Creative thinking abilities?
Teaching methods that promote critical thinking abilities include inquiry-based learning, problem-based
learning, and Socratic questioning. These methods encourage students to ask questions, analyze information,
and develop well-reasoned conclusions. To foster creative thinking abilities, we can implement brainstorming
sessions, creative problem-solving activities, and open-ended projects that allow students to explore their
interests and express their ideas in unique ways.
Thinking. What type of thinking is emphasized in most schools? Is critical thinking rewarded? Creative
thinking? Is school success based on students’ ability to think critically? Creatively?
In many schools, the emphasis is often on memorization and recall, which can limit the development of critical
and creative thinking skills. However, some schools and educators recognize the importance of fostering
critical and creative thinking and design their curriculum and assessments to reward these skills. School
success should ideally be based on a combination of critical and creative thinking abilities, as both are
essential for problem-solving, innovation, and effective communication.
The environment. What type of classroom environment would be conducive to developing critical thinking?
Creative thinking? What problems can you foresee in establishing this environment?
A classroom environment that fosters critical and creative thinking should provide opportunities for open
discussion, collaboration, inquiry, and exploration. It should be safe and supportive, where students feel
comfortable taking risks and expressing their thoughts without fear of judgment. Teachers should also
encourage curiosity and model critical and creative thinking skills themselves.
Some potential challenges in establishing this type of environment include resistance to change from
traditional teaching methods, lack of resources or support, and time constraints. Additionally, it may be
challenging to balance the development of critical and creative thinking skills with the need to cover specific
content and meet standardized testing requirements.
