1. General Presentation of the product

The OneProd VMS (Versatile Monitoring Station) monitoring case is built up around the
OneProd MVX acquisition and processing unit.

Its application-oriented functions turn it into a powerful multichannel tool that is readily available,
easy to carry and implement at a moment’s notice.

OneProd VMS allows performing temporary signal acquisition and/or monitoring operations on a
machine.

OneProd VMS integrates a OneProd MVX acquisition and processing unit, which results from
01dB-Metravib’s long-time experience in the permanent monitoring of industrial machines in all
domains. The technical specifications of OneProd VMS are then closely linked to those of
OneProd MVX .

OneProd VMS allows for the simultaneous acquisition of up to 32 analogue channels in the 0-20
kHz range, for their storage or for their local processing in order to monitor a machine and/or to
provide data to the OneProd XPR predictive maintenance platform.

Henceforth equipped with the last firmware version (based on OPS4.2) OneProd VMS allows to
catch any transient phenomena and to record the corresponding signals, before and after the
triggering event.

OneProd VMS is available with 8, 16, 24 or 32 channels and can be customised with several
options:
 WIFI communication
 GSM communication
 Relay outputs
 Insulated DC input modules

OneProd VMS is compatible with IEPE transducers, AC or DC signals (/- 20V range) and 4-
20mA signals.

The 32 analogue measurement inputs are available as BNC connectors inside the case.

OneProd VMS includes an energy supply (about ½ hour) aiming at compensating for a
momentary power shortage. This function proves particularly interesting when one wants to
capture a phenomenon that may result from a power outage or that can generate a power
outage itself.

OneProd VMS can operate while it is closed and locked in a humid or dusty atmosphere: cables
are inserted in the case through protected raceways.

A laptop computer can be installed in the case for local use or to operate in closed mode inside
the case, which is closed itself.

For easier transport, OneProd VMS includes a telescopic handle and wheels.

6. Operating

6.1. General principle

OneProd VMS performs the following operations on a cyclic and continuous basis:
 Simultaneous acquisition of all programmed analogue channels
 Immediate post-processing of acquired data
 Monitoring of scalar indicators thus calculated

These indicators are also available “as they come along” in MODBUS format on the Ethernet
and RS485 ports of OneProd VMS , in order to be read by a display or storage system. These
measurements are not stored in OneProd VMS .

OneProd VMS performs the following actions periodically:

 Signal acquisitions to feed the OneProd XPR database;
 Calculations of indicators to complement these signals in the database.

The calendar periodicity requested by the operator can be complemented by acquisitions on

event:
 Detection of an alarm (an indicator exceeds its threshold)
 Change in the operating conditions defined by the operator.

Since V5.xxx firmware version, OneProd VMS is able to achieve in real time some indicators,
which means that 100% of the corresponding signals is really monitored.

Besides this real time monitoring function, specific “time wave on event” signals can be
recorded. These signals can include what happened before the trigger event (pre-trigger
function).

The transfer of the recorded signals and indicators to the database occurs as soon as possible,
depending on the network availability. Measurements are stored in OneProd VMS as long as the
data transfer to OneProd XPR is not effective.

In all cases, signal acquisitions are regrouped by machines and they can be subjected to the
operating conditions of the machine.

6.2. Operating modes

 Monitoring and periodic acquisitions:

o OneProd VMS performs monitoring and periodic measurements

o Periodic measurements (scalar values, spectra, time signals) are stored in
OneProd VMS before being transferred to OneProd XPR .
o Besides, OneProd VMS can monitor the 32 signals in real time, through some
simple indicators
o If an alarm occurs on these indicators, then OneProd VMS records the
corresponding signals with a pre-trigger.
o OneProd XPR is necessary to set up monitoring and retrieve data.
o OneProd VMS is a partially stand-alone system since it can store periodic
measurements.
o Indicators can be transferred via MODBUS-RTC or MODBUS-TCP.

10 EN_VMS_DATA_SHEET.DOC
 Stand-alone monitoring:
o OneProd VMS performs monitoring measurements only.
o OneProd VMS computes scalar indicators only.
o OneProd VMS is set up using the OneProd CSM tool.
o Once set up, OneProd VMS is a full stand-alone system.
o Indicators can be displayed with OneProd VIO .
o Indicators and statuses can be transferred through MODBUS-RTC or
MODBUS-TCP.

6.8. Time wave on event
Besides real time monitoring MVX can record specific time waves that can be trigged at all time
and that includes « pre-trigger » capability. I.e. possibility to include what happened BEFORE
the trigger event.

Possible trigger events:

 Real time indicator alarm level violation,

 Change in the operating condition,
 Manual measurement request (from XPR)

Time wave on event parameters:

 Fixed sampling rate: 51.2 kHz.

 Length: 1s to 30s on 32 channels
 Maximum length can be overstepped if less than 32 channels have to be recorded at
the same time:

Number of channels concerned by time wave

32 24 16 8 4 3 2 1
on event
Maximum duration (s) 30 40 60 120 240 320 480 480

 Pre-trigger duration: 0 to total wave length (*).

(*) For first generation MVX which have been updated with V5.xx. please consult user manual.

6.9. Long time acquisition (“DAT” option)

This option consists of an extension of the number of points for the acquisition.
 For each channel, one can select: 16K ; 32K ; 64K ; 128K ; 256K ; 512K ; 1M ; 2M ; 4M-
samples
 Limit: ~ 82s of signal on 30 channels whatever the sampling frequency
 This limit may be downgraded if time waves on event are used.

6.10. Processing time

Real time indicators are performed « as one goes along » during acquisition. Corresponding
processing is achieved with the highest priority level.

Other indicators (named « cyclic » ones) are performed after dedicated acquisition period.
When MVX ends cyclic indicators processing, then it starts another acquisition cycle, and so on.

Calculation period for the cyclic indicators depends on global MVX load:
 Total number of real time indicators.

 Number and complexity of cyclic indicators and signals.

The more real time indicators are to be computed, the longest is the period for cyclic indicators.
