Basic programs of the waterfront development are:

a. Natural interpretation center


b. Independence Square
c. Amphitheater
d. Park
e. Fishing pier
f. Bronze metal craft shop
g. Railway play trail
h. Cycling trails

3. Project Background:
Recreation facilities are major attractions of urban living. It helps regeneration of
productive capacity of urban dwellers by refreshing their body and mind which are the integral
parts of busy urban life. Parks are important elements in urban life for passive and active
recreation. But these facilities are highly insufficient in Chapai Nawabganj Pourashava. Chapai
Nawabganj Pourashava is an ancient growth center having historical importance.
Due to the absence of active recreational facilities in the pourashava, children are passing their
leisure period in indoor as a result they are not properly grow mentally and physically.

4. Project Rational:

Now a days, Chapai Nawabgonj city is confronted by several challenges due to rapid urbanization and
the great migration to the city. In such a case the city is need to fulfill the challenges like reused the urban
spaces and lost space, efficient and multiple uses of urban floors and space, compacting urban structure to
accommodate a large population, and ensure mobility. The urban waterfront is a challenging space for the
planner and urban designers to be acquainted the city itself with the global world and fulfill local urban
needs. The urban waterfront is one of the special structures of the city which may hold ecological
resources, economical benefit, and scope for socialization and recreation for city people. Now a days a
recreational place is a basic needs for the city dwellers. This aims to prepare a strategic framework for the
new waterfront development in Chapai Nawabgonj by analyses its current situation, maintain the standard
and guidelines of waterfront development, and other social and cultural issues.

5. Project Objectives:
5.1 Objectives:

a. To create Refreshing point of leisure time for city dwellers


b. To improve Urban Environment
c. Generate revenue for Pourashava
5.2 Targets:
Improve physical environment for urban area and create a modern recreational point for the urban
dwellers. This project earns revenue for the Pourashava which will help financially sustainable to
Pourashava.
