In description answer writing, the following words have the following meanings:

1.Critical analysis: To critically analyze means to examine a topic, issue, or argument carefully and in
detail, considering its strengths and weaknesses, and evaluating its relevance, accuracy, and validity.
A critical analysis requires you to assess the evidence and reasoning presented and to provide an
informed and thoughtful evaluation of the topic.

2.Discuss: To discuss means to consider a topic or issue in detail and provide an explanation or
argument about it. A discussion typically requires you to present your own perspective on the topic
and to consider and respond to other viewpoints or arguments. You may be asked to discuss the
advantages and disadvantages of a particular topic, the causes and effects of a particular issue, or the
implications of a particular decision or action.

3.Explain: To explain means to make something clear or understandable by describing or providing a


detailed account of it. When asked to explain something, you are expected to break it down into its
constituent parts and to present those parts in a logical and coherent manner. This may involve
providing definitions, examples, and supporting evidence.

4.Summarize: To summarize means to condense the main points or ideas of a text, speech, or other
source into a brief and coherent statement. When asked to summarize, you are expected to extract
the essential elements of the material and to present them in a clear and concise manner, without
including unnecessary details or commentary.

5.Highlight: To highlight means to emphasize or draw attention to a particular aspect or feature of a


topic or issue. When asked to highlight something, you are expected to identify and explain its
significance or importance, and to provide evidence or examples to support your interpretation.

6.Comment: To comment means to express an opinion or view on a particular topic, issue, or


argument. When asked to comment, you are expected to provide your own perspective or
interpretation, and to support your position with evidence or reasoning.

7.Examine: To examine means to scrutinize or investigate a topic, issue, or argument in detail. When
asked to examine something, you are expected to analyze its constituent parts and to identify its
strengths and weaknesses, as well as any potential problems or implications.

8.Evaluate: To evaluate means to assess or judge the quality, value, or effectiveness of a particular
topic, issue, or argument. When asked to evaluate something, you are expected to provide a
reasoned and informed assessment of its strengths and weaknesses, and to provide evidence or
reasoning to support your evaluation.
