Life Line Calculation PDF

1. This document contains calculations for the horizontal life line system (HLLS) of building MS-JKT05 for Kajima Indonesia. 2. The calculations determine parameters such as initial tension, maximum tension, deflection, horizontal and vertical reactions, bending moments for the HLLS which has 3 cable spans of 3 meters each using an 8mm diameter cable anchored to steel HSS pipe posts. 3. The calculations show that the cable rupture force is greater than the maximum tension and that the moment capacity of the anchors is greater than the maximum bending moment, indicating the design is adequate based on the given controls.

Number of spans 3
Total Cable Length 9 m
Span Length L= 3 m
Initial deflection f1 = 0.1 m
Max Arresting Force F= 2.5 kN

Initial Tension T1 = w*L^2/8*f1 = 26.6625 N

Initial Cable Length Sa = (L/2) + ((w^2 * L^3)/(48 * T1^2)) = 1.504 m
Ka = 3*Ea*Ia / La^3 = 1352.367 N/mm

Diagonal length Sa*(1+(T1/(E*A)))+ek = 1.548 m
Arresting angle of cable Cos α= L/2*Diagonal length = 0.969
α= 14.26 degree
Maximum Tension T = √(F^2/(4*sin^2 α)) = 4.226 kN
Maximum Deflection f2 = ((w*L^2)+(2*F*L))/(8*T) = 1.075 m
Horizontal Reaction Rx = T*Cosα = 4.096 kN
Vertical Reaction Ry = T*sinα = 1.041 kN
