Starlink
• Nearly two decades ago, famous
billionaire entrepreneur and billionaire
Elon Musk founded SpaceX with
several primary goals, including
traveling to Mars, establishing human
colonies on it, and making space travel
much cheaper. While Musk has
successfully completed his second
mission so far, SpaceX appears to be
on track to achieve a goal that many
around the world have long wanted: a
stable high-speed, satellite internet
through the ambitious Starlink project.
What is starlink
• Starlink's main idea is to provide satellite Internet service globally and
relatively cheaply, as the idea began with SpaceX's announcement that it
intends to create a high-speed satellite Internet system that will reduce
the burden of traditional Internet in crowded human centers such as
major cities and provide Internet truly globally.
• Unlike other satellite internet networks available today, Starlink's idea was
very ambitious in terms of adopting a much larger number of satellites so
that there would be higher internet speeds and better network
connectivity without the need for highly complex, high-cost equipment as
is the case today.
• According to the plan, the Starlink network consists of 12,000 small
satellites orbiting the low Earth (closer than 2,000 kilometers from the
Earth's surface), and to illustrate the amount of ambition in this project,
there were fewer than 3,000 satellites around the Earth when the idea of
Starlink began, which means that the company wanted to multiply the
number of satellites in orbit several times to achieve its goals.
• To date, about 900 satellites within the Starlink system have been
launched into orbit around the Earth, and although the number may take
several years to complete, the network is already active and has already
entered the open trial phase a few days ago, with pre-registered users in
the United States and Canada able to subscribe to the beta service.
What distinguishes Starlink from
other satellite Internet networks?
• The main advantage is perhaps truly global coverage, as the Starlink
network will cover almost the entire globe (except for the poles), while the
other available networks are usually geographically limited and even within
their coverage areas are not always e ective but include many
interruptions or periods of network weakness due to the small number of
satellites available.

• Overall, Starlink today looks better than any pre-existing satellite internet,
and although it is still in the beta period, it is clear that it will o er a level of
service comparable to traditional internet networks, which will make it
ideal for remote places in the future.
