INSTRUCTIONS
Start off by deciding what data you need and which of the graphs and / or tables
contains it. Bear in mind that for the more difficult questions you will need to
relate figures across two graphs and / or tables. Then locate the specific data that
you need. Always think through what the question is saying before driving into
the calculation. You might be able to arrive at an answer without actually doing a
calculation just by studying trends in the graph.

It’s hard to provide guidance on time limits with these questions, as different
people will find different things difficult. If possible, be sure to pick off the easiest
questions first! Aim to spend just over a minute per question but be aware that
some questions will take considerably longer than this to answer.

IMPORTANT TIPS
Keep things simple whenever possible. Focus on the one-to-nine digits in each
figure rather than the zeros (TENS, HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS, MILLIONS) that
come after the digits.

Avoid worrying about the zeros in every part of your calculation. You can just
ignore the scale of the figures that you are working with, for example MILLIONS or
TENS of MILLIONS. These will be standard in both question and answer. You can
also simplify matters by working to ONE decimal point in your calculation, thus
cutting down on the number of figures that you need to write down and
manipulate.

Don’t go for an answer just because it is the closest to your own calculation. The
question will specify if you need to ROUND UP an answer.
