Teacher’s Activity Pupils Activity

A. Preparation
Good afternoon class.
Good afternoon teacher.
Before we proceed to our discussion today, may I ask
everyone to please stand and have our prayer. Arnel
can you lead the prayer?
Yes ma’am. In the name of the Father, and of the
son and of the Holy Spirit……. Amen.
Amen. Thank you Arnel. Before you take your seat,
kindly pick up the pieces of paper under your chair
and arrange your chair properly. You may take your
seat. Okay, who’s absent today?
None ma’am.
I’m so glad to hear that. So, today, let’s first have a
recap of what we discuss last meeting. Who
remember our topic yesterday? Anyone?
It is about notes and rest.
That’s right. So what about notes and rest?
Notes on a staff represent what pitch to play and
for how long. Rests are musical symbols used to
designate when to pause and not play.
That’s right. Notes represent to play for how long and
rest represents when to pause and not to play. So
what note is these?
Whole note teacher.
Very good. It’s whole note. How about these?

Half note teacher.

Very good. It’s a half note. It seems that you already
understand our topic last meeting, let’s proceed to
our topic today. But before that let’s first have a
short activity. I have here 4 pictures. I will group the
class into 2 groups and each group will be having 2
pictures. All you need to do is explain what the
picture is telling us. Understand?
Yes teacher.
Okay let’s start.
(The activity start) (The activity start)

Do you have any idea what is the connection of this

pictures in our topic today?
None teacher.
B. Presentation
Okay, they have connection with our topic today,
because our topic today is about dynamics.
C. Comparison and Abstraction
To start our discussion let’s first define what is
dynamics in music. Can anyone read it?
Dynamics in music refer to the volume of a
sound or note, and can also refer to every
aspect of the execution of a given piece, either
stylistic or functional.
Thank you. So dynamics is the volume of a sound.
Meaning its either loud or soft. Dynamics can also
refer to variations in loudness during a song, the
dynamic range of an audio signal or system, and
the individual features of a sound's amplitude
envelope. Dynamics have different types. Here it
is.
fff Fortississimo Extremely
loud
ff Fortissimo Very loud
f Forte Loud
mf Mezzo forte Moderately
loud
mp Mezzo piano Moderately
soft
p Piano Soft
pp Pianissimo Very soft
ppp Pianississimo Extremely
soft
> Decrescendo Gradually
becoming
softer
< crescendo Gradually
becoming
louder

Got it class?
Yes teacher.
For you to be able to understand more. Let me
give you some examples of music. I want you to
identify what types of dynamics it is. Understand?
Yes teacher.
(The activity start)

Okay, so do you understand our topic today?

Yes, teacher.
D. Generalization
Let’s see if you really understand. So what is
dynamics again?
Dynamics is the degree of loudness or softness of
the music.
Very good. That’s right. What are the different types
of dynamics?
The different types of dynamics are:
fff Fortississimo Extremely loud
ff Fortissimo Very loud
f Forte Loud
mf Mezzo forte Moderately loud
mp Mezzo piano Moderately soft
p Piano Soft
pp Pianissimo Very soft
ppp Pianississimo Extremely soft
> Decrescendo Gradually becoming
softer
< crescendo Gradually becoming
louder

Very good. So, do you have any question?

None teacher.
E. Application
Since none, let’s have an activity. Same group and all
I want you to do is perform 3 types of dynamics in
one song. Any types of dynamics you can use. For
example, you will sing bahay kubo and in the first
stanza is loud and for the next stanza will become
soft. Do you get what I mean class?

Very good. So let’s start. Yes teacher.
