ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to begin our report by expressing our deep gratitude to the Almighty Allah
SWT for granting the entire group the strength to successfully accomplish this job. Our
team nevertheless succeeds in finishing the assignment exactly in time, despite the many
challenges we encountered along the way.

It took a lot of direction and help from many different individuals for this project to
succeed and produce the desired results. We would like to express our gratitude to our
subject lecturer, Madam Rusnani Mohamad Khalid, for providing us with the chance to
complete this project and for always supporting and guiding us. Nothing we have
accomplished would be possible without her help and direction. Her kind help and
direction have been much appreciated by us.

Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to all respondents at UiTM Segamat
for helping us by responding to the questionnaires we sent them in order to gather
information for our project. Without the help and participation of our crew, this job cannot
be finished. Without their proactive direction, assistance, collaboration, and
encouragement, we would not have continued with the project.

Lastly, we also appreciate the time and space our family gave us to concentrate on the
project. We sincerely appreciate the support and understanding as we work through this
till we get to the reference section.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Study

Social media is a channel of communication that uses the internet. Users may engage in
conversations, exchange information, and produce content for the web via social media
platforms. Social media may take many different forms, including blogs, microblogs, wikis,
social networking sites, picture and video sharing websites, instant messaging, podcasts,
widgets, virtual reality, and more. Social media is used by individuals all over the world to
interact and exchange information. Social media gives you the personal freedom to
interact with loved ones, learn new things, explore new hobbies, and be entertained. On
a professional level, you may use social media to increase your expertise in a particular
area and develop your network by getting in touch with other people in your sector.

Additionally, we established a group with Dewi, Camellia, Dayana, and Zahira after
looking through numerous resources. Researching students' preferences for various
social media sites is something we are very interested in. We think there is a lot we can
learn from how students use social media from their point of view. We began by
questioning each student enrolled in part 2 at UITM Segamat in Johor. They complete the
online survey, which includes crucial questions on their social media usage.

Our group agreed to create four study objectives after discussing the perspectives
of students about social media. Firstly to explore what kind of social media that students
in UiTM Segamat preferred the most. Next to determine what students seek when they
are on social media. After that, to estimate how many hours students usually spend their
time on social media. Lastly, to know why students like to spend most of their time on
social media.

1.2 Objective of The Study

● Study what kind of social media that students preferred the most
● What do students seek when they are on social media
● Estimated how many hours students usually spend their time on social media
● Why students like to spend most of their time on social media.

METHODOLOGY

Methodology is the method or techniques used to define, collect, process, and

evaluate information on the subject. The methodology portion of a research paper aids
the reader in evaluating the general validity and dependability of the analysis. As a result,
we are adopting a method in this study that incorporates the population, the quantity of
samples, the sampling technique, and the collecting of data using a questionnaire.
Therefore, the goal of this research methodology is to gather data from the research and
effectively address that.

2.1 POPULATION

A research population often consists of a large number of people or things that are the
focus of a certain scientific investigation. As a result, all teenagers who are UiTM students
are the focus of this study. We selected UiTM because we believe all students like using
social media applications, and we want to learn about their preferred media application.

2.2 SAMPLE

A research sample is a group of people, objects, or items that are taken from a larger
population for measurement. Moreover, we took all part 2 students of UiTM Segamat to
do a survey about the social media application. Among these part 2 students, there are
students from course banking, investment analysis, science computer and accounting.

2.3 SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

In this assignment, stratified sampling has been used as the sample method. The
sampling technique known as stratified sampling divides a population into smaller
subgroups known as strata. In stratified random sampling, also known as stratification,
strata are created based on shared traits or characteristics among individuals.

2.4 DATA COLLECTION METHOD

For our data collection method, we used an online survey via Google forms to get
responses from part 2 students of UiTM Segamat. The questionnaire consists of two
sections which are section A and section B. The purpose of section A is to find out the
information of the respondent such as gender and age. Then, the question in section B
was to find out the use of social media applications among students in our UiTM.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, all part 2 students of UiTM Segamat, Johor had pointed out their
very own opinion regarding the use of social media.

Based on this survey, the four objectives stated at the beginning of this research
are well achieved. Firstly, the most preferred kind of social media that students in UiTM
Segamat use is Tiktok. Next, what students seek the most when they are on social
media is entertainment. After that, the maximum hours students usually spend on social
media is more than 1 hour. Lately, the most selected reason for a student to spend most
of their time on social media is to fulfill their leisure time.

Finally, we can conclude that the most used social media platform by students is
Tiktok. They would spend more than 1 hour for entertainment and to fulfill their leisure
time.
