It’s not the gift that counts, but the thought behind it.

No matter how much I try to get motivated, I can’t. I feel horrible that I’m falling behind in my
career and business. I feel embarrassed to meet my friends because I don’t want to talk about
what I’m doing. I have applied to so many jobs to no avail (完全无用)and I don’t seem to be
putting enough effort into my business. I’m making very little money and falling deeper into debt.
What’s holding me back?
A few months ago, my friend, we’ll call him John, was going through a similar situation. John is in
his twenties, he’s super talented, really cute, really smart, but he was feeling lost in his life, and
he was embarrassed about it. He had been stuck in this same retail job for years, and he felt like
time was passing him by.
He got a new job, his relationship’s back on track.
When you’re stuck in a rut and embarrassed about your life, there are steps you can take to get
back on track.
No1: Be honest.
Most of us have the tendency to hide our true feelings and pretend that everything is okay. You
know how they say the truth will set you free?
Whenever you’re not honest with yourself, or others, you’re just gonna stay stuck. If you stick to
the facts and stay out of victim mode. Don’t lie, just say, “You know what, I’m going through a
really tough time right now.”
No2: Get out and be around people.
So even though he was going through a rough time, he did not bail on his social life.
fill up that calendar
Just being around people will help get you out of the rut.
No3: You have got to take action
And, get things done.
Call back a friend you’ve been meaning to talk to. Clean out a drawer, or maybe take up a class
you’ve been meaning to take forever. Start with one thing, even if you think it has no relevance to
the big life problem that you’ve trying to solve.

Talia Ryder: I think we are really lucky to be growing up in a time where young women especially
are being listened to and encouraged to speak their minds. And I think that’s something that
Sidney and I both wanna act upon because it hasn’t really been something that’s been available
to women in the past.

I don`t know when he left here. 此时 when 作
He left his hometown in that year when his father died.
此时 when 作连词修饰 that year,引导定语从句.
He will go to the doctor`s when it is sunny.
When he left here is a question.
That she was able to come made us very
happy. ② The news that our team has won the match is true.
③ The reason he didn't come was that he was ill.
如: ① It is well—known that the earth is round. ② We find
it necessary that we practise spoken English every day.
2.由 and 或
Tell him that if he is at home, I’ll call to see him.
如: Is
this the factory which /that makes TV sets? The man who /that visited our school is from
Australia.
Gone are the days which /that we spent together in the village.
He is the man who /whom /that I think to be worthy of our praise.
如 : This is the best place that I have ever visited .
little,much,all,none,few,(the)one, something,everything,nothing,anything 等
There is nothing in the world that can frighten him.
He told us about the people and
the cities that he had visited . ④先行词前有 any, all,no,few, every, some, little,
much,(the)very,(the)only,(the)last 等词修饰时,用 that 引导。如: This is the
very coat that I need. Which is
the book that you bought yesterday?
Shanghai is no longer the city that it used to be in the 1930's. ⑦当主句是 There be...
There are two tickets for the film that are for you two.
where 相当于 at/in/on+which。如:
This zoo is not the only place where the animal can be seen.
She’s got herself into a dangerous situation where she’s likely to lose her life.
where 相当于 the place where。
idea,plan,fact,theory,promise,hope,news,doubt,truth,information,suggestion

Do you consider yourself a neat or messy person?
I’m a messy person by nature.
Ever since I was a kid I never tried to be organized but I always knew where my things are, under
the bed, in the corner, on the top of my cat’s head. I know exactly where my things are. Which
made me really angry at mum when she tries to organize my room and get me out of the
chaos/ˈkeɪɑːs/ I got so customized to.
Then I went to university and was so absorbed in my studies and spent so much time
outside(from 6 am to 7 or 8 pm) that when I get home, my own room seems strange, so I stopped
remembering where I put my stuff and I was always unable to find anything.
Since I’m a messy person by nature I’m in a constant war with myself and I ceaselessly [ˈsiːsləsli]
keep trying to keep everything tidy.
Usually I just try to suggest to myself that a moderate amount of mess is the essence of beauty.
