Comments on staad file

1. SDL = 1.0T/sqm (wt. of crash barrier)
2. WC = 0.065x2.3 = 0.150 T/sqm
3. Thickness of top slab should be 450mm thk. of bottom slab
should be 500mm and
4. Thickness of wall throughout should be 450mm increase at
corner due to haunch is not correct as hauch is the part of slab.
5. Moving load analysis should be done for vehicle loading
6. Soil spring stiffness should be calculate as per Bowls eqn. and
calculation should be shown.
7. In soil spring Mx & Z should be released.

1. 1t/m is considered for crash barrier.

2. 50mm wc
4. Thickness of the wall can be increased on the corner location because of the presence of the haunch.
Haunch is applicable for slab as well as wall.
5. Bowels eqn is considered.

In active earth pressure calculation, submerged density is taken to be on conservative side for top slab sagging.
In earth pressure at rest calculation, dry density is taken to be on conservative side for side wall.
We need to check all elements of box for both Active & At rest
earth pressure case. Hence both load need to be consider in Both active and
design passive ep is
considered.
Add surcharge du to wearing coat for bot Active & at rest condition

EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE OVER BOX STRUCTURE

CALCULATING BRIDGE TEMPERATURE :

Maximum air shade temperature = 47.5 o
Minimum air shade temperature = 2.5 o
Bridge Temperature = 35 o

Showing Temperature for overall for expansion / contraction

o
Temp = ± 35

NOTE: For Overall Bridge Temperature elongation/ contraction is considered only for the top slab, on the conservative side.

Effect of water current is to be considerd in design calculation

Design philosophy

Box cell is designed for both ultimate case and serviceability case. Loads with their appropriate load factors are mentioned below.

Live load analysis of box cell is done and bending moment and shear forces are computed for five different cases as mentioned below.

1 Ultimate case Live load analysis (top slab and top of side wall)
2 Ultimate case Live load analysis (bottom slab and bottom of side wall)
3 Serviceability Live load analysis (Rare combiantion) (top slab and top of side wall)
4 Serviceability Live load analysis (Rare combiantion) (bottom slab and bottom of side wall)
5 Serviceability (Quasi permanent)
