1. Prove that a line of finite length terminated by its characteristic impedance Z 0 is


equivalent to a line of infinite length. [CO1][K3]
2. A lossy Co-axial cable, operated at a frequency of 500MHz has the following primary
constants R = 2.25 Ω /m, L = 1µH/m, C = 100pF/m and G = 0 mho/m. Determine the
i) Propagation Constant and the attenuation Constant ii) Attenuation in dB of a 100ft
length Cable. [CO1][K3]
3. A distortion less transmission line has the following parameters: Z0= 60Ω, α=20
mNp/m, VP = 0.7c. Find R, L, G, C and wavelength at 0.1GHz. [CO1][K3]
4. Define loss less and distortion less transmission lines in terms of transmission line
parameters. Determine the condition for distortion less and minimum attenuation.

5. Draw the equivalent circuit of a two-wire transmission line and list the applications of
transmission line. [CO1][K1]
6. Define the terms Characteristic impedance and input impedance. [CO1][K1]
7. Find the Characteristic impedance, propagation constant and velocity of propagation
at f =100 KHz for a lossless transmission line having L= 33 µH/m and C= 10 nF/m.

9. A lossy cable which has R = 2.25 Ω/m, L = 1.0µH/m, C= 1 pF/m and G = 0 operates
at f = 0.5 GHz. Calculate the attenuation constant of the line. [CO1][K3]
10. Obtain transmission line general equations of voltage and current. [CO1][K1 & K3]
