    ADV101-Enterprise System

    Learning outcomes

    Regarding knowledge and understanding, on completion of the course the student will
    be able to:

     describe properties and architectures of enterprise systems,


     account for strategies and approaches for implementation and use of enterprise
    systems,
     explain how enterprise systems support organisations.

    Regarding skills and abilities, on completion of the course, the student will be able to:

     analyse implementation and use of enterprise systems from a socio-technical


    perspective,
     apply socio-technical models and provide recommendations for implementation and use
    of enterprise systems implementation,
     discuss and present critical issues related to implementation and use of enterprise
    systems.

    Regarding judgment and approach , on the completion of the course the student will be
    able to:

     critically assess the role of enterprise systems in organisations,


     argue for different enterprise systems solutions.

    Content

    The course provides insights into theoretical concepts and current practice of enterprise
    systems. The course is designed to develop students’ knowledge about enterprise
    systems and to provide hands-on experience with enterprise systems applications.
    Through lectures and seminars, students learn about opportunities, challenges and
    approaches to enterprise systems implementation and use, and develop critical thinking
    skills. In addition, the student receive practical experience in enterprise systems
    applications through laboratory work. The content reflects main aspects of enterprise
    systems and includes:
     different types and components of enterprise systems;
     architectures and the enterprise systems market
     system integration and strategies for implementing and using enterprise systems
     trends, opportunities and issues with enterprise systems

    Module 1: Fundamentals of enterprise systems, 2,5 credits


    This module introduces concepts, like Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain
    Management, Customer Relationship Management, Business Process Management,
    evolution of enterprise systems and provide a theoretical understanding of enterprise
    systems in organisation.

    Module 2: Enterprise Systems implementation and use, 3 credits


    This module covers enterprise systems implementation life cycle and use in
    organisations. By working with case studies, students gain insight into opportunities and
    challenges of enterprise systems in organisations. In this module, laboratory work
    provide hands-on experiences with enterprise systems applications.

    Module 3: Contemporary issues in Enterprise Systems practice, 2 credits


    In this module, as part of a case study, students analyse an enterprise systems
    implementation or use and based on literature suggest solutions or change measures.

    Instruction

    The course is given in form of lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions.

    Assessment

    The course is assessed through laboratory sessions, seminars and assignments.

    If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the
    method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another
    method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special
    pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
