Major Project

The document proposes a project to synchronize the blinking of RGB LED lights in a strip with audio playback. The LED lights will blink at varying speeds depending on the speed of the music, making parties and dances more attractive. The project will use an Arduino microprocessor to program different lighting patterns in the LED strip. A microphone will convert the audio to an electrical signal, which will be amplified and sent to the LED strip through Arduino to control the lighting patterns based on the music. Components like the LED strip, Arduino, microphone, and amplifier will be used, with programming and testing done in Arduino software first before implementing the circuit.

MAJOR PROJECT PROPOSAL

TITLE: Synchronization of RGB (Red +Green +Blue) LED lights in strip with audio by Pulse
Width Modulation technique.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

 RGB LED lights:

RGB LED means Red, Green and Blue LEDs. At first glance, RGB (Red, Green, and
Blue) LEDs look just like regular LEDs, however, inside the usual LED package, there
are actually three LEDs, one red, one green and one blue. By controlling the
brightness of each of the individual LEDs we can generate pretty much any colour we
want.

 How to change colour of RGB LED light:

A specific colour in RGB LED light is produced by mixing of three colours red, green
and blue in different proportion of intensity.
By pulse width Modulation Technique three signals of different power are applied to
three terminals of RGB LED lights to produce three different intensity colours.
Simultaneously use of three colours will generate a specific colour.

 Synchronization of RGB LED lights in strip with audio:

Synchronization of RGB LED with audio means that intensity and speed of LED
glowing will depend upon audio.
By combining many RGB LED lights, RGB LED strips are made. They are
available in market named as RGB LED strips. In this project LEDs in the strip are
made to blink according to music i.e. synchronization of LEDs with music. It means if
music is slow, the LED lights will blink with slow speed and if music is fast, the LED
lights will blink with fast speed. The project, if used practically, can make a dance or
party attractive.
For better effects in synchronization, different patterns are made of LEDs
glowing in the strip. The patterns are designed by programming in Arduino
Microprocessor.

COMPONENTS USED IN THE PROJECT DESIGN:

RGB LED strip

Arduino Microprocessor
Audio device
MIC
Software for arduino programming
Bread-Board
Power supply (9-12V)
Connecting wires
Resistors
DESIGNING OF THE PROJECT:

The necessary steps which have to be taken in design of the project are as follows:

Designing of different LED glowing patterrns in RGB LED strip:

Different patterns of LED glowing have to be designed by programming in Arduino

Microprocessor. These patterns will be performed by LEDs in the strip while playing an
audio.

Before using the patterns in Arduino hardware, the patterns are tested by simulating in
Arduino software on pc.

Converting audio signal into electrical signal:

The audio signal generated by audio device will be converted into an equivalent electrical
signal by using Microphone(MIC).

Amplifying the electrical signal:

The electrical signal from the MIC can be of low volage, so it should be amplified before
using for further application.

To give the amplified version of electrical signal to LED strip:

The amplified version of electrical signal will be given to LED strip as supply voltage through
Arduino.

Simultaneously use of LED glowing patterns and the electrical signal will give audio
synchronized LED lights.

WORK PLANNING:

We will proceed in the following manner:-

 Initially we will design different LED glowing patterns by programming in Arduino.

Here we will use pulse width modulation technique to obtain different colours in
LEDs.

 We will design the circuit by connecting RGB LED lights to Arduino on softwere on
pc.

 We will simulate the program of LED pattern along with the circuit on Arduino
softwere. In this step different patterns will be tested.

 We will use MIC to convert audio signal to electric signal. An amplifier circuitry may
be used to amplify the electric signal.
 We will give the electric signal to RGB LED strip through Arduino. In this manner LEDs
in the strip will blink according to music.
