INTRODUCTION

To be done as a paragraph

 Why is this topic important?

 Why/How does this research helps in everyday life?
 What does this SBA attempt to discover?
 We can use this topic to evaluate the use of technology in examinations. As CSEC moves toward
online examination we can compare and see if students being able to type would be at an
advantage or disadvantage.
 The use of technology has a negative effect, and we can use this investigation to identify if
students take long to write.

Eg: Over the years as a student, I have always felt that too much class time is spent writing notes as
opposed to following class content. I believe that by allowing student to type in class can have a positive
effect if they can type faster than they can write…..

METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION

(As a paragraph)

 How does the student researcher intend on obtaining their data ?

Students should take a sample of at least 20 persons.

 The student researcher must include all details.

 Sample size (How many persons in total, as well as how are these persons categorized)

20 people both typing and writing.

 The entire process used to obtain your data

We need to collect 40 sets of information

Are you doing it all at once or 1 person at a time

Assume we are doing all at once:

Decide when and how you can access all at once eg a function, at work, school, church etc.

Permission to use

Randomly selecting 20 ppl, first 20 ppl,…etc

Copies of the passage to type (20 copies)

Device to be used, pen paper, phone, laptop, try to control your devices.

How did you do the timing …start and stop timer

Assume you decide to do this individually:

To 5 ppl a day one by one, where you would be able to time them yourself.

Copies of the passage to type (20 copies)

Device to be used, pen paper, phone, laptop, try to control your devices.

How did you do the timing …start and stop timer

 After the data is collected, what is the next?

The two sets of data and compare and analyze.

 CHARTS
 Histograms ( two histograms. One for, writing and one for typing passage)

 Comparative bar chart

 Comparative line graph

 Charts must be properly labelled and illustrated (E.g Figure 1 or Figure 2)

ANALYSIS OF DATA

 The analysis of data is a further breakdown of the raw data.

THIS IS DONE BY USING STATISTIC CALCULATIONS

EXAMPLE:

 Average time ( 2- 1 for each)

 Mean (2- 1 for each)
 Median (2- 1 for each)
 Mode ( 2- 1 for each) Most

 ALL WORKING MUST BE SHOWN

 FORMULAS MUST BE USED

DISCUSSION OF FINDINGS

 Discuss the raw data and the analysis of data.

 When discussing your findings, you need to make references to your charts.

 You need to back up all your points with the use of your values from your
calculations (e.g Average times, mean, median and mode etc)
CONCLUSION

 The conclusions needs to state the outcome of the research
