For Real

The document is a lesson plan for teaching how to solve quadratic equations. It outlines the objectives, subject matter, and lesson procedures. The lesson begins with an introduction and motivation activity using a song. Students then learn about the definition and form of quadratic equations. The teacher demonstrates solving several example equations using the quadratic formula step-by-step with student participation. To check understanding, students are asked to solve practice problems using the quadratic formula and complete 10 assignment problems for homework.

III. LESSON PROPER

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Prayer Good morning, ma’am/sir
Good morning class! (Everyone stands)
Everyone stands and let us pray. John, Amen.
please lead the prayer.
B. Attendance
Is everybody present? No one is absent today sir.
Alright. Thank you.

C. Motivation
Okay class, before we proceed to our
topic for today let me share you a song Yehey!!
that can help you remember a formula
−b ± √ b2−4 ac (The class pays attention)
x= song
2a

(The class sing the song)

(The class sing the song)

D. Lesson Proper
Okay class, for today’s lesson is all about
how to solve quadratic equation using (The class pays attention)

quadratic formula.

So, who can tell me what is quadratic

An equation that has 4th power?
equation? Just take a guest.
It is indeed an equation but the highest
power is only 2 that in form of ax² + bx + c
Yes sir.
= 0, where a ≠ 0. Okay?
ax2 + bx + c = 0
Can you repeat it?
Then, lets proceed on solving quadratic
equation.

Example:
Solve x² - 5x + 6 = 0
The value of a is 1 sir.
Can you give me the value of a Jonas?
Very good.
It is negative 5 sir.
How about Jimwel, can you give me the
value of b?
Yes, it is indeed negative 5 C is equal to 6 sir.

And last the value of c, Justine?

Great, now let’s substitute the value in the
quadratic formula.

−(−5) ± √ (−5)2−4 (1)(6)

Solution: x=
2( 1)
Negative times negative 5 is equal to? (Class) Positive 5.

Negative 5 squared is equal to? (Class) 25.

4 times 1 times 6 is equal to?

(Class) 24.
5± √ 25−24
=
2
5± √ 1
=
2
5± 1 (The class pays attention)
=
2
5+1 6
= = =3
2 2
5−1 4
= = =2
2 2
The roots are 3 and 2.
Checking:
So, let’s check if our is correct.
First, we substitute the 3.
x² - 5x + 6 = 0 9.
3² - 5(3) + 6 = 0
3 times 3 is equal to? Negative 15.

Negative 5 times 3 is equal to?

And bring down 6.
9 – 15 + 6 = 0
-6 + 6 = 0
0=0
Next, we substitute the 2
x² - 5x + 6 = 0 4.
2² - 5(2) + 6 = 0 Negative 10.
2 times 2 is equal to?

Negative 5 times 2 is equal to?

And bring down 6.

4 – 10 + 6 = 0
-6 + 6 = 0
0=0
More examples;
1. x2 – 17x – 18 = 0
2. x2 – 6x + 7 = 0
3. x2 – 8x + 7 = 0

Okay class before we finish our (Class) None sir.

discussion for today, do you have any
questions or clarifications?

Okay then, that conclude our lesson for

today.
Next meeting, we will be having quiz
about the lesson.
Good day class and see you next Good day sir.
meeting.

IV. ASSESSMENT/GENERALIZATION

Activity:
Solve using the Quadratic Formula.
1. Y² + 8y + 15 = 0
2. M² + 4m + 3 = 0
3. 2y² + 3 = 7y
4. 2x² + 8x = 0
5. 3m² + 2 = -5m
6. K² + 4k + 10 = 0
7. A² + 6a + 9 = 0
8. 7y² + 6 = 20y
9. 10x² + 7x = 40
10. 13f² + 3 = -8f

V. ASSIGNMENT

1. x2 – 19x – 16 = 0

2. x2 – 9x + 10 = 0

3. x2 – 15x + 14 = 0

4. 6x2 – 13x -15 = 0

5. 4x2 – 12x + 3 = 0

6. y2 +y =12

7. x2 – 13x + 36 = 0

8. 4n2 – 20n = 0

9. 3t2 + 14t = 5
