Track changes is a feature in Microsoft Word that highlights insertions, deletions, or
formatting modifications in a document. "Track Changes" facility be found in the Review Tab. The only options available to respond to a change or an edit is to Accept or Reject Changes The following are valid changes which would be Tracked by the "Track Changes" facility. o Deleting Data o Editing Data o Formatting Data Comments are not actually part of Track Changes Adding Comments whilst not part of Tracking Changes are still very important for Collaborative Working The following are valid advantages of adding Comments o It allows you to understand a document easier o It draws attention to a particular piece of data in a document o Instructions can be given from one collaborative worker to another o You can have simple markup of Comments which hides most of the Comment elements for neatness and clarity Comments come with a review pane which allow you to see a list of all the comments added to a document Comment MARK UP - This is all of the Revisions, Ink, Formatting text in balloons and indication arrows and indication lines Many different people can track changes and review a document. The creator of the document has the ability to Accept or Reject changes to a document. The markup is removed and they become part of the document after changes are accepted. The main difference between "Comments" and the "Track Changes" facility is that: Comments are inserted into a document to give opinion but cannot become part of the main document. Track Changes allows suggestions to actually be accepted into the main document Changes to a document using "Track Changes" are called Revisions. The creator of a document is also sometimes referred to as The Author. One valid advantage of collaborative working is that distance and location are not a problem as long as electronic methods of communication are available Collaborative tools take away the need for project workers to regularly meet because their thoughts and opinions can be applied to a document in real time without the need of video conferencing or similar facilities When in Google Docs Suggesting Mode or if Track Changes is turned on in your Microsoft Word document, deleted text displays as: strikethrough When in Google Docs Suggesting Mode or if Track Changes is turned on in your Microsoft Word document, if a change was made to your document by another collaborator and you do not want the revision incorporated, you can Reject it. When comments are inserted into a Microsoft Word document, you can remove it by going to Review Ribbon, Comments group, Delete Comments is the name of the note that can be inserted into a Microsoft Word document by a reviewer to communicate suggestions, alerts, or tips to the author If you want the revision to make it a permanent part of your document, you can Accept the change The changes group in the Review Ribbon contains the command to accept or reject changes made to a document. Collaborative working means - when one or more people work together on a project using the same document.
