LEARNING OUTCOMES
Investigate technologies and trajectories relevant to 3G, 4G, and 5G networks (C4,
CLO2
PLO4)
CLO3 Justify solutions recommended relevant to 3G, 4G, and 5G networks (A3, PLO9)
Whether the diagnosis and treatment devices are remote or used in a clinical setting, they
will rely on the Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLCC) and time
synchronization capabilities of the current or latest wireless communication technologies
to support accurate and timely information sharing and control of treatment devices. The
tasks to be supported by these devices may range from sharing video for diagnostic
purposes, to controlling an insulin pump or performing robotic surgery. Communications
between an ambulance and hospital add the need for support of rapid mobility for similar
diagnosis and treatment tasks.
Given the wide range of healthcare applications and devices, the mobility needs are
diverse and far reached. Scenarios wherein devices may need to be connected for full
mobility at speeds ranging from pedestrian for a wristband monitor to high speeds for
devices in an ambulance or medevac helicopter. In view of such circumstances it can be
realized that one essential supporting element is the communication infrastructure which
will determine the success or failure in achieving the abovementioned goals.
Consequently, the communication infrastructure itself have gone through changes and
evolution with the current focus on the latest wireless communication technologies.
Therefore, your assignment team is required to first compare the various evolution
introduced by 3GPP for the 4th generation (4G) standards and beyond. In your
comparison, focus on the general technical development and improvements, followed by
the impact and benefits such technologies bring to the consumers. Then the team needs to
recommend one (1) of the wireless communication technology with justifications in
relation to the given healthcare application in a Country/City of your choosing.

Subsequently, each member of the team needs to conduct a feasibility study focusing on
technical, economical, and procedural/non-technical factors for the following criteria:
Apply and relate the feasibility study to the chosen wireless communication technology
for healthcare applications in particular hospital ambulances that are in moving
conditions, and provide the recommended solution(s). Justify your solution(s) using
information from the literature review. The report must include an overview/general
diagram to represent the suggested implementation for the proposed scenario. Additional
diagrams and figures are encouraged to substantiate and complement the facts included.

ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. You are required to work within a group of not more than 3 members.
2. Maximum word count for entire report must not exceed 3500 words. Wherein, group
part does not exceed 500 words (i.e. each member is approximately 160 words)
and individual parts does not exceed 3000 words (i.e. each member is 1000 words).
This excludes tables and figures.
3. Attach the marking scheme provided in the previous page as the cover page and enter
each member’s name accordingly.
4. As part of project management, you are required to develop a Gantt chart (project
plan) that indicates clearly the activities required in order for the project to be a
success.
5. The report has to be well presented and should be typed. Submission of reports that
are unprofessional in its outlook (dirty, disorganised, inconsistent look, varying
coloured paper and size) will not fair well when marks are allocated.
6. Ensure that the report is printed on standard A4 (210 X 297 mm) sized paper. Paper
weight of 80 grams and above is highly recommended.
7. The report should have a one (1”) margin all around the page as illustrated below:

8. Every report must have a front cover. A transparent plastic sheet can be placed in
front of the report to protect the front cover. The front cover should have the
following details:-
b) Intake code.
c) Subject.
d) Project Title.
9. Plagiarism is a serious offence and will automatically be awarded zero (0) marks.
10. All information, figures and diagrams obtained from external sources must be
referenced using the Harvard referencing system accordingly.
