Activiy Guide For The Development of The Practical Component - Unit 2 - Phase 4 - Simulated Scenario

This document provides guidelines for the practical component of a Didactics of English course. It outlines 5 steps for students to complete a simulated teaching scenario activity and reflection. Students must develop lesson plans and make pedagogical decisions in a simulator. They then write a reflection on their experience and recommendations. Students are also required to participate in a virtual meeting and upload documentation, including observation forms and attendance records, to their e-portfolio. The component aims to strengthen students' teaching competencies through simulated classroom experiences.

Didactics of English 558022

1. General Information of the Practical Component

Learning strategy: Scenario-based

Course type: Methodological
Evaluation moment: Intermediate
Highest score of the component: 115 points
Number of activities of the practical component registered in this guide: 1
With the development of this component students are expected to achieve
the following learning outcomes:
Apply the different theories covered in the course in the solution of a simulated
educational problematic situation that may arise in a language classroom.

2. General Activity Description of the Practical Component.

Scenarios of the practical component: In situ (practice)

Activity type: Individual
Activity number: 4
Highest score of the activity: 110 points
The activity starts on: Monday, April 24, The activity ends on: Sunday, May 14,
2023 2023
The resources required for the development of this activity are the following:
- Virtual Campus
- Simulated Scenario
- Institutional e-mail
- Unit 2 contents
- Practice observation forms
The activity consists of:

Step 1. Development of the Pedagogical Practice Simulator activity.

The Pedagogical Practice Simulator is an academic tool that allows undergraduate

students to propose and carry out simulated pedagogical and didactic practices,
leveraged in problem situations, to strengthen the competencies of the training of

1
graduates with simulated tasks that can be applied in their field of practice in
different learning environments.
Each student must enter the simulation and develop the activities proposed in each of
the following scenarios:
• Problem statement analysis
• Reading simulation instructions and output options
• Simulation development (make decisions to solve the problem and select the one
you consider most appropriate in the range of possible options)
• Use the research toolbox.
• Browse the simulator and make use of the normative and theoretical tools that will
help you make decisions.
• Include enough argumentation to validate the decision taken. Cite the authors in
APA style 7th edition.

Step 2. Once you have developed the Simulated Scenario Practice activity, share the
result in the forum for this activity in a PDF document with a personal reflection about
your experience as a teacher in training and what it means to be a teacher.
Reflect upon the following questions:
• What aspects must be considered when teaching?
• Is it difficult being a teacher in your community? What are the biggest
challenges?
• What are the biggest needs of the students at your school or educational
institution?
• What would you recommend to your tutor? Consider suggestions and ideas to
• improve your learning process.

Step 3. Attend the web conference of the course and attach the evidence of your
active participation, if you do not attend, you must watch the recording and write a
summary of it.

Pedagogical Practice part:

Step 4. Verify the date and attend the second mandatory meeting as a Strategy of
presential accompaniment of the School of Science of Education ESAPEC for practice
students. This virtual meeting of three hours is graded and is counted as part of the
32 hours.

2
Step 5. Individually upload the following documents into your e-portfolio Phase 4,
bearing in mind the hourly distribution for this phase:

Activity Time Distribution

Phase 2 –Participant - Observation 8 hours (Participant Observation Practice)
Practice 2 hours (Material Development)
3 hours (ESAPEC)
Phase 3 – Participant - Observation 8 hours (Participant Observation Practice)
Practice 2 hours (Material Development)
Phase 4 – Participant - 3 hours for ESAPEC
Observation Practice 3 hours for E-portfolio
3 hours for Simulated Scenario

Forms folder
Include the following documents in PDF and named as indicated.
1 diario de campo (it can be about one class you observed during phase 3 or about
the ESAPEC)
1 formato de asistencia that includes:
• 3 hours for adjusting the e-portfolio
• 3 hours for the simulated scenario
• 3 hours for the ESAPEC

Organize your folder following the feedback given, you have 3 hours for portfolio
adjusting that you must use in this phase in order to deliver your e-portfolio complete
and neat with all the signatures and the 32 hours to pass the pedagogical component
of the course. Bear in mind that these dates must match the ones in the plan de
trabajo.

For the development of the practical component consider that:
In the Initial Information Environment, you must:
check the agenda and check the date, time and link of the web conference.

In the Learning Environment, you must:

Do the simulation, reflect upon the questions and socialize the activities in the forum
Phase 4 – Simulated scenario.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must: upload the collaborative work in the link:
Unit 2 - Phase 4 – Simulated scenario - Rubric and Activity Submission

Evidences of individual work:

The individual evidence to be submitted is:
• A pdf document with a cover page, introduction and the reflection upon the
questions proposed in the activity guide.
• PDF of the simulation
• Evidence of the participation to the ESAPEC and the web conference.
• The individual screenshots of uploading the practice forms.
• Conclusions and references.

Evidences of collaborative work:

No collaborative evidence is required in this activity.

3. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences
