Overview

This report addresses the structural calculations for tower CW systems, where the worst case of the CW
being considered in this analysis

The Ultimate strength Design data;

1. Fty= Tensile and compressive yield strength= 170 Mpa

2. Fsu= Shear ultimate strength = 130 Mpa
3. ny= Safety factor =1.65

The Design analysis considering allowable stress design (ASD)

1. Fb= Design Bending strength = 103 Mpa

2. Fv= Design Shear strength = 58.6 Mpa

Hence ASD utilises only 60% of its design strength, evidently the 1.50% proof load is assured

and the fixing bolts considered is base on the given allowable stresses from AAMA TIR A9-91;

3. Fixing bolts allowable shear stress = 0.40/(3)0.50*Fu

4. Fixing bolts allowable bearing stress on ply thickness= 1.2 Fu
