ACADEMIC PROJECTS (DURING M.TECH/ M.SC.)

PC based Electrical Appliance Automation System (M.Tech Major Project) Team size: 1 Duration One Year Brief Synopsis: In todays era most of the electrical appliances ON/OFF switching are done either by manually or remotely. These are generally based on some sort of relays. But this system is basically based on microcontroller, optocouplers and Triacs. The GUI of this system is designed in VB.NET. Such systems are widely used in a various places such as Hospitals, Industries, Educational departments, etc. However, because of large size and life of the electromechanical device based systems are less. Therefore the system based on the microcontroller and other semiconductor devices like Optocouplers and Triacs are become useful and more popular nowadays. This PC based system is also provides a time facility to the user for ON/OFF switching to different appliances in a single instance. The main objective of the proposed appliance switching system is to provide a GUI for user which contains different options like settings for serial communication, visualizing buttons to choose the status of the appliance and text boxes for transmitting code and time value and receiving too. The system is fabricated and tested in our Laboratory itself.

M.Sc. Major Project (Java based Client-Server Model using SMTP Protocol) Team Size: 2 Duration: 6 months Brief Synopsis: The Client/Server paradigm has become a dominant one for the Internet. In this model, the clients are programs running on remote machines that communicate with a program called the server that runs at a single site and responds to requests from many clients. The server provides the clients with, say, Web pages or database information. With Java we can build client/server systems with sockets. In this socket based client/server system, a server listens to a particular port for client applications sending requests for connections. A ServerSocket class is provided in Java that allows for a server to monitor and answer such requests for connections. The client sends the request for a connection by creating a socket with the host name and port for that server

EDUCATIONAL TRAINING:
Team Size: 2 Duration: 3 months Brief outline: I got an opportunity as a trainee in the STQC Philips EMT Institute, DOE, New Delhi to work on Surface Mount Technology. In this Institute basically we have trained for an assembly line consists with different machines. The first machine for taking the components for the various trays and placing them on the PCB at their proper place, next machine is to paste solder and finally the complete PCB goes to the machine with very accurate heaters for proper soldering all the SMC/SMDs.

RESEARCH WORK:
Team Size: 5 Duration: 1.5 Years Brief Synopsis: I got an opportunity as a Junior Research Fellow in Centre for Environment and Explosives safety, DRDO, New Delhi to work on the project titled Development of Laser based intelligent fire detector system. During this period we had developed a PC based working model. In this system we have used data acquisition software on the PC to acquire the fire signatures continuously from the unit consist with a Laser source, smoke and temperature detectors. After comparison of these values with the threshold values stored at PC, the alarm signal is generated if necessary.
