Control panel software update

If it is necessary to update the software of the control panel to integrate new functions, it is necessary
to perform the following procedure. The update is carried out through a memory card that must be of
type SD (max. 2Gb) formatted with FAT16. The files that can be updated on the CPU of the control
panel are three, but the implementation of a function may not require the update of all the files.

The files which can be updated are:

• Operating System - contains the operating system which runs the program of the CPU
• Loader - contains the program enabling to run the operating system
• PLC Program - contains the actual program of the controller

On each SD Card it is possible to use only the first 16 files. If the files are less than 16, browsing with
the left and right buttons the display will show 'No File' instead of the missing file. For a specific file, in
addition to the file name it is possible to display its date and time, size or type, using the Up and
Down keys to browse the different views.

Each type of file is loaded by pressing the Enter key.

If it is necessary to update more than one file, it is necessary to transfer them in the following order:
Operating System, Loader and PLC Program.

OS Loading
• Turn on the control panel with the memory card inserted on the CPU and keys ▲ and ▼
pressed.
• "System Loader" should appear
• Press the Enter key
• Select with the right or left keys the desired operating system with extension .CRY
• Press the Enter key and wait for file transfer
• Turn off and remove the memory card

Loader Loading
• Turn on the control panel with the memory card inserted on the CPU and press the Enter key
within 4 seconds.
• Select with the right or left keys the desired Loader with extension .CRL
• Press the Enter key and wait for file transfer (very fast operation in which the progress bar
may not display)
• Turn off and remove the memory card

PLC Programs Loading

• Turn on the control panel with the memory card inserted on the CPU and press the Enter key
within 4 seconds.
• Select with the right or left keys the desired PLC program with extension .S5C
• Press the Enter key and wait for file transfer
• Turn off and remove the memory card

Drive software update

If it is necessary to update the software of the drive to integrate new applications, perform the
following procedure. The update is carried out through a memory card that must be of type SD (max.
2Gb) formatted with FAT16. The files that can be updated on the drive are three, but the
implementation of a function may not require the update of all the files.

The files which can be updated are:

• BootManager - contains the program needed to load the main functions of the drive
• Firmware - contains the functions of the drive
• Parametrization – contains the default values for the parameters of the motor and of the
drive.

For the update with the memory card it is necessary that the files are organized as follows:
• The file of the BootManager must be named "boot_hex.hex" and must be placed in a folder
named "BOOT" placed in the root of the volume.
• The file of the Firmware must be named "app__hex.hex" and must be placed in a folder
named "HEX" placed in the root of the volume.
• The file of the Parametrization must be named "par__ibd.ibd" and must be placed in a folder
named "IBD" placed in the root of the volume.
CAUTION: It is recommended that the updates are performed one at a time, and that only one "valid"
folder is in the SD card (folder "HEX", or folder "BOOT", or folder "IBD", never more than one at a
time).

Priority of update
To update two or three files referred to above, it is necessary to have multiple memory cards, each
containing only one of the three files. Transfer them in the following order: BootManager, Firmware
and Parametrization.

Procedure:
• Push down the IGM switch to turn off the drive
• Switch the ERO selector to "EMERG" position
• Insert the memory card with the file you want to transfer into the drive slot
• Raise the IGM switch to turn on the drive
• Wait for the end of the programming indicated in the display of the drive (this may take up to
60 seconds and beyond)
◊ at the end of the programming of the BootManager the display of the drive will show "0" or
"8" flashing
◊ at the end of the programming of the Firmware the display of the drive will show "0"
flashing
◊ at the end of the programming of the Parametrization the display of the drive will show "I"
flashing
• Push down the IGM switch to turn off the drive (*)
• Repeat the same operation for the remaining files to be updated

(*) CAUTION: If you hesitate to push down the IGM switch at programming end, a new transfer of the
file to the drive will start. This is signalled by the display of the drive and it will show other acronyms.
Do not power off the drive during program transfer, always wait until programming end

3 INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLATFORM MOVEMENT

3.1 Moving the platform with maintenance button panel

The movement of the platform can occur only if all the contacts provided on the safety series are
closed. Since many of them, when it is necessary to move the platform, have not yet been fitted, it is
necessary to use a specific harness for EVOLUX ECO supplied by Ceam (do not use other
harnesses).
The assembly of the system without this harness, can result in the breakage of the electronic boards
and the voidance of the warranty. The movement without car concentrator and hoistway references is
only allowed if it the assembly key is active (program “C14 Chiave mont”. Of the menu "Controller" ).
Perform as soon as possible encoder adjustment procedure.

Note: if wiring is missing, request it (and related instructions) to Ceam.

3.2 Motor Direction

The controller is programmed so that the motor rotates clockwise during the rise of the car. In some
cases it may happen that the motor must rotate in the opposite direction so that the car moves
upward. To change the motor rotation direction you need to use the program “D18 Dir Motore” of the
menu “Setup Drive”. The up button changes rotation direction while the enter button confirms the
selection.

3.3 Encoder adjustment

When the drive is shipped, having never driven the system motor, it does not know where the zero
notch of the encoder is located with respect to the rotor of the motor. In these conditions, the drive
still manages to drive the motor but guarantees only 80% of the torque until encoder adjustment has
been performed. For the drive to provide 100% of the torque, it is necessary to perform the procedure
of encoder adjustment as soon as possible during installation. To perform the procedure it is
necessary to select the program "D19 Encoder Adj" from the menu “Setup Drive”, bring the ERO
switch to ERO position (the switch on the maintenance button panel must be set to normal) and move
with the buttons on the CPU to one of the two directions of travel the car until it stops and the
contactor falls. The operation lasts approximately 30 seconds at the end of which the drive display,
with system stopped, displays "P". If the operation is not successful or if it has never been performed,
the drive display, with system stopped, shows two horizontal dashes. Avoid if possible to stop
prematurely the procedure by releasing the buttons.

4 INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION AND START-UP

After you have performed the procedure of encoder adjustment, perform in sequence the following
procedures:

4.1 Commissioning of the RBI (belts monitoring device)

All of the belts and the shortening connectors must be installed before powering the device.
After you have powered the device, the green POWER LED turns on.

The red CSB LED red must not be ON (it is assumed that learning was not performed).

4.1.1 Automatic learning using the LEARN key (RBI)

Requirements for learning:

• All belts must be installed in the related connectors
• The resistance of the belts must not differ by more than 10%

To start the learning process press LEARN 5 times in 5 seconds.

The learning procedure using the LEARN key can be carried out only once. Must be used with a RBI
device never previously used and with new belts. Once you have successfully completed learning, a
subsequent learning stage (if required) must be performed using the service tool. This procedure
prevents accidental relearn of belts resistance.

The automatic learning procedure using the LEARN button can be carried out only once. This
procedure must be used for new devices equipped with new belts.
Once you have completed the learning procedure, all subsequent operations (if necessary) must be
made using the service tool.
This constraint prevents the possibility of carrying out learning after the first time.

4.1.2 Manual learning using the service tool (RBI)

The manual learning procedure using the service tool must be used when installing the RBI on a
system that has performed more than 100000 runs or on a system that has more than one year of
life. Manual learning allows the operator to enter the length of the belts and the initial resistance of
the belts is calculated as follows:
(belts length [m])*(resistance of the rope per metre) * (number of ropes in the belt).

1. Connect the service tool to the RBI device.

2. Go to the menu Start Resistance data (F-1-1)
3. Make sure there are no learning procedures running
4. “Has the previous starting resistance value been cleared? (9=Y)”
5. Press button 9 only if the user is certain that the previous starting resistance value must be
cleared.
6. "Enter belts length 000.00 [meters]"
7. The belts length value to be entered must be rounded up to 100mm.
8. RBI "Learning' in progress. . .”
9. "Data Storage. . . . subsequent resetting. .”

If the length entered is not acceptable a message will appear: “Illegal SR press Clr to try again”.

Make sure that the display CSB LED is monitoring the belts, i.e. each CSB LED must be steadily ON.

4.1.3 Automatic learning using the service tool (RBI)

Important note: performing additional learning procedures after the first one implies that the
previously saved data is erased and replaced with the new ones.
CONSEQUENTLY, DO NOT PERFORM SUBSEQUENT LEARNING PROCEDURES ON A
SYSTEM IN SERVICE!

Automatic learning using the service tool cannot be used on a system that has more than 100000
runs or a year of life.

Automatic learning using the service tool must be used when replacing the worn belts with new belts.

1. Connect the service tool to the relevant port of the RBI.

2. Go to the menu “Start Resistance Auto Learn” (menu F-3-1)
3. Make sure there are no learning procedures running
4. "Are the new belts installed? (9=Y)"
5. PRESS 9 ONLY IF THE OPERATOR IS CERTAIN THAT THE BELTS DO NOT HAVE A
SIGNIFICANT WEAR AND THAT A NEW PROCEDURE OF LEARNING IS NECESSARY.
6. “Has any previous starting resistance value been cleared? (9=Y)"
7. PRESS 9 ONLY IF THE OPERATOR IS CERTAIN THAT THE PREVIOUS VALUE OF
STARTING RESISTANCE HAS BEEN CLEARED.
8. "RBI is now learning. . ."
9. "RBI learning in progress"
10. "Data Storage . . . Subsequent resetting. ."

Make sure that the display CSB LED is monitoring the belts, i.e. each CSB LED must be steadily ON.

4.1.4 RESET operation (RBI)

Press the LEARN switch three times in five seconds to reset the alarm and the alert conditions
Note: The RESET switch does not reset the faults. It is used to configure and install the software on
the electronic board.

If the condition that generated the fault persists, the fault will reappear on the next measurement
cycle (60 seconds).

4.1.5 Status of CSB LED (RBI)

Each CSB LED shows a number of status conditions. However, in order to simplify the display, the
specific cause of each alarm or every condition of alert must be established by using the service tool.

(1 sec ON, 1 sec OFF)

There are several possible causes, each marked by a specific code, for a given alert or alarm. Refer
to the manual for the service tool AAA21700AG_RBI_ADT for instructions on how to access warning
and alarm codes.

4.1.6 Test (RBI)

Press the test button to test the response of the RBI to an alarm condition.
This is done by forcing the belt resistance to its maximum value.

4.2 Exit from assembly

At the end of the movement with the platform, to put into service the system, you must remove the
assembly key by means of the program “C14 Chiave mont.” from the menu “Setup Controller”.
A character shows the status of the assembly key Y=on N=off. Following the instructions on the
display you can enable and disable the key.
Disabling the key, the concentrator, the pulser and the RBI (belts check) must be operating.

4.3 Learning run (floor acquisition run)

Perform the learning run procedure after an adjustment or a movement in ERO.

To be able to serve the calls, the drive should know the elevation of the floors. To do so, launch a
learning run during which the drive brings the car to the lowest floor and then to the top floor with
learning run speed, recording the position of the magnetic sensors 1LS (slowing down at the lowest
floor), 2LS (slowing down at the top floor) and 1LV (area sensor). To launch the learning run you
need to use the program “D20 Learning Run” of the menu “Setup Drive” and press the enter button.

4.4 Tuning of door operator AT120

Before turning on the operator, verify:

- The connections of the motor and encoder to connector ST306
- 24Vdc inputs and outputs connected to P5
- The 24Vdc power supply to the connector ST1

4.4.1 Learning run (AT120)

The device is able to automatically recognize the beginning and the end of doors run, thanks to the
learning run. It is possible to carry out the learning run with the button on the Control Board or with
the Service Tool.

If you have just powered the door operator, you'll have to wait for 30-40 seconds before you begin.
During this time, the Control Board is started up, then you'll hear the snap of a relay.

1. Press the stop and switch over system to inspection.

2. Disconnect the connector ST301/P5 of the operator board
3. Open the doors manually.
4. Reconnect the connector ST301/P5 of the operator board
5. Press for at least 3 seconds the button "learn run" in the upper left corner of the Control
Board. The doors will push in opening for 1 or 2 times, after which they will close at very low
speed.

4.5 Doors contact check

In order to be able to enter into service the system must have first tested the contacts of the floor
doors. Use the program “C15 Test CUV” in the menu “Setup Controller” and press the enter button.
To activate the procedure, press enter again; the display will show "in progress …" and will test all the
contacts of the doors on all the floors. The procedure must be activated with car that does not
engage the pulser 1LS.

4.6 Coding of button panels and floor displays

Through the program “C08 CodificaNodi” in the menu “Setup Controller” you can set the floor button
serial node number, and, if necessary, of the Olympus display.
Floor buttons (and displays) leave the factory configured as node 0; they all operate as if they were
the button (or display) of the lowest floor.
On the serial board of the buttons there is no configuration jumper. To set the node number perform
the following procedure:

1) Bring the car to the floor which is closest to the machine room.
2) Select the program on the control panel:
- All the car doors open.
- The character (A, B, C) is displayed on the car display, corresponding to the car side where access is
located.
3) Press the floor button
- The button will auto-configure and flashes to indicate that the operation was successful.
4) Enter the car and press the call button of the top floor.
- The display shows the position of the car flashing.
5) Bring the car to the next floor by pressing the corresponding car button.
- On arrival at the selected floor all car doors will open and the car display will show again the character (A,
B, C) corresponding to the car side where access is located.
6) Repeat the procedure from step 3) to step 5) for all floors.

Note: Before you begin coding the buttons and the displays, the car must have performed the
readjustment run.

4.6.1 Cars with multiple accesses

If the floor at which the car is located is provided with multiple accesses, the car display will show two
horizontal dashes - - . In this case, the previous step 3) changes in the following manner:

3.1 ) Select one of the accesses by holding one of the car buttons (except
for call to the top floor).
- The corresponding character will appear on the display.
3.2 ) Exit the car and press the floor button corresponding to the selected access.
3.3 ) Repeat this procedure selecting the other accesses at the floor.

4.6.2 Button panels with two buttons

The floor button panels of the systems with reservation include two buttons. The procedure to follow
is the same as already described; to configure the button panel it is not necessary to press both floor
buttons but only the one with the red light on. In these cases, the control panel turns on the signalling
of the call button to go down.

4.6.3 Coding of the display

When the arrow on the floor display indicates car next departure direction (typical operation in the
system with reservation), it should turn on only at the floor where the car is located. Therefore, it is
necessary to set the serial node number also for the display. The procedure is the same already
described for the buttons except for step 3) that changes as follows:

3) After having coded the button, move a magnet near the display on the right side of the visual area,
for the LCD model, on the left-hand side for the LED model.
- The display will auto-configure and flashes to indicate that the operation was successful.

Note: for this purpose we recommend three strips of plasto ferrite (those commonly mounted on the
guides) overlapping to be passed over the entire surface of the display.

Attention! If the floor where the car is located has multiple accesses, the above-described operation
must be carried out only when on the car display you can see the character A.

If the arrow on the display indicates, instead, the car current travel direction (typical operation in
systems with universal manoeuvre), all the floor displays turn on the arrow, therefore node number
must not be coded.

4.7 Weighing device

At the end of assembly it is necessary to calibrate the load weighing device. To do this follow the
following points:
1. Follow the prescriptions in the assembly and calibration instructions indicated in the
instructions attached to the load cell. In particular:
• fasten in an appropriate manner the cell to the motor cross member
• wait for 15 minutes from the startup before calibration
• make a few calls before calibration
2. Empty the car and use the program “WL2 Tare” in the menu “Load weighing device setup”
3. Go to the program “WL3 Calibration” in the menu “Load weighing device setup”. Put a sample
weight in the car. Measurement accuracy will be higher if sample weight is near to car
capacity. Use the up and down arrows to indicate the value of the sample weight that was put
in the car and press the Enter button to confirm. ATTENTION !!!: The calibration procedure
takes 4-5 seconds. The success of the operation is signalled by the sound of the buzzer. In
the meantime, do not change menu screen.
4. Go to the program “WL4 Capacity” in the menu “Load weighing device setup”. Use the up and
down arrows to indicate the capacity of the system and press the Enter button to confirm.
The overload threshold is set at 75 Kg more than the car capacity. With the program “WL1
CurrentWeigth” of the menu “Load weighing device setup” you can check the weight read by the load
cell and the overload status.
