LESSON 1
MOTIVATION
What is your own philosophy in life? Is it necessary to be guided by a
sound philosophy in the practice of their profession? Why?
— As a Future Educator, my own philosophy in life is having emphathy towards teaching. When
a classroom is led by a teacher who understands and shows empathy, there will be a deeper
sense of trust within the class. Students will feel safe to be themselves as they simultaneously
participate in activities that strengthen empathy.
REFLECTION
IDEALISM
As you prepare to develop your own philosophy of education, consider these
questions:

• What elements of idealism do you agree with?


— Idealism is the metaphysical view that associates reality to ideas in the mind rather than to
material objects. The elements that I will agree with is believe that the schools are the
repositories of eternal truth which have organized the hierarchical curriculum in education.
• Which of these elements would you incorporate into your own
philosphy?
— The element that I would incorporate is that thinking and learning are the
processes of bringing latent ideas to consciousness and logic is encouraged in
organizing their lessons. I would incorporate this because as a future educator, a
teacher should be logical to prepare students in life and organized enough to
maintain order in the classroom and optimize learning opportunities for their students.

REALISM
As you prepare to develop your own philosophy of education, consider these
questions:

• What elements of realism do you agree with?


— Realism is an educational philosophy; furthermore it is a teaching that stresses knowledge
that develops from one 's own senses. The element that I will agree with is Believe that the
inclusion of non-academic activities interfere with the school’s primary purpose as a center of
disciplined academic inquiry.
• Which of these elements would you incorporate into your own
philosphy?
— If given a chance, the element I would incorporate in my own philosophy is that teachers
should be equipped with a wide repertoire of methods in teaching to achieve their goals. By
doing this, it gives teachers a whole host of strategies, activities, and techniques, presenting
their pupils with countless different ways of learning by keeping lessons varied. In other words,
it leads to successful teaching.

PRAGMATISM
As you prepare to develop your own philosophy of education, consider these
questions:

• What elements of pragmatism do you agree with?


— Pragmatism is an educational philosophy that says education should be teaching students
the things that are practical for life and encourages them to grow into better people. The
element that I agree with is that students should learn the process of problem
solving rather than by being passive learners as knowledge is being transmitted
to them
• Which of these elements would you incorporate into your own
philosphy?
— The element that I would incorporate in my own philosophy is that education should focus
in real-life problems to be prepared to live fully and effectively in society. As an aspiring teacher
facing real life problems will lead us to have better life by overcoming it.
PERENNIALISM
As you prepare to develop your own philosophy of education, consider these
questions:

• What elements of perennialism do you agree with?


— Perennialism is the belief that education should center around knowledge from the past to
educate our future generations. The element that I agree with is that teachers are the intellectual
mentors and models for their students. As an aspiring teacher we should motivate our students to
do better in every domain and help them achieve life goals. Through our guidance, the students
will know how to differentiate between right and wrong.
• Which of these elements would you incorporate into your own
philosphy?
— The element in philosophy that I would conclude in my own philosophy is that,
Perennialist teachers role is to sharpen the students’ intellectual powers and enhance their
moral qualities. By conducting this the students will gain knowledge that can help on their
future in society.

ESSENTIALISM
• As you reflect on creating your own philosophy, are there elements of
essentialism that you would like to include in your philosophy of
education? What are these?
— Essentialism in education asserts that common and essential ideas and skills belonging to a
certain culture should be taught to all citizens at the same level at especially primary school
level. The first one that I will include in my philosophy of education is that students should learn
the “essentials”. Learning is essential to our existence. Just like food nourishes our bodies,
information and continued learning nourishes our minds. And also i will incorporate that
teachers should have mastery of the knowledge and skills they teach. So that, students can
adapt and easily understand the lessons.
PROGRESSIVISM
• As you reflect on creating your own philosophy, are there elements of
progressivism that you would like to include in your philosophy of
education? What are these?
— Progressivism is a philosophy that gives importance to the outcones or
progress of the child. The elements of it that I would integrate with my own
philosophy is that; teachers should serve as a facilitator of learning to the child
and let them learn freely and naturally.

SOCIAL RECONSTRUCTIONISM
• As you reflect on creating your own philosophy, are there elements of
social reconstructionism that you would like to include in your
philosophy of education? What are these?
—Social reconstructionism is a philosophy that emphasizes the addressing of social questions
and a quest to create a better society and worldwide democracy. The elements I would
include with my philosophy is that the intellectual, emotional, and personal needs of the
students should be considered in the learning process
EXISTENTIALISM
• As you reflect on creating your own philosophy, are there elements of
existentialism that you would like to include in your philosophy of
education? What are these?
— Existentialism in education is a teaching and learning philosophy that focuses on the
student's freedom and agency to choose their future. The element I would include is
that; Having purpose of education that focuses to awaken out consciousness
about freedom to choose and to create our own self-awareness that contributes
to our identity.

REFLECTION
FAMILY
• What skills did you learn from your mother/father, which do you now
practice as an adult? What habits have you developed, which started at
home?
Skills
— The skills that I get from my parents are, know how to socialize with people, be
deligent in all work and also having a time management.

Habits
— The habits that I acquired from my parents is that, we do greet good morning/good
afternoon to the people we encounter, bless the elders and pray before we eat and sleep.

CHURCH
• How do the norms of the church affect your behavior in society?
— Church is a a way to connect with God, by listening to the words of the church it will help you
know what is right to do and what is wrong, you will know what is good to do in your life and
how to be a good person in your society.
• What religious values does your family practice?
The religious values our family practice's is Christianity, Christians do worship
involves praising God in music and speech, readings from scripture, prayers of various sorts, a
sermon, and various holy ceremonies (often called sacraments) such as the Eucharist.
GOVERNMENT
• What type of government do we have in the Philippines? What kind of
learners we elect to govern us?
— The Philippine government takes place in an organized framework of a
presidential, representative, and democratic republic whereby the president is
both the head of state and the head of government.The ruling body must be
recognized by its people to enforce the laws or rules and govern them. The citizens elect their
official periodically to govern them for the period.

As a future teacher, the three areas I believe will make my classroom efficient and motivating to
my students are (1) teaching as though I am guiding my students through the knowledge I
present to them (2) giving my students the freedom to let their curiosity take them further and
(3) encouraging my students to respect

PRACTICE TASK/ ASSESSMENT
1. In which social institutions could you serve best as a future teacher?
Why?
— Education is a social institution through which a society's children are taught basic academic
knowledge, learning skills, and cultural norms. It is the social institution through which society
provides its members with knowledge, including basic facts, job skills, and cultural norms and
values. Education interests me because the school system is a social agency that was created to
enhance the processes of socialization through education. Students not only learn from the
academic curriculum, but they also benefit from socializing with their teachers and peers.

2. Can you describe your primary role in your chosen institution?


— My primary role for my chosen institution which is education is a student and a
teacher someday.

3. What other roles do you think are expected of you?


— as a future educators the goals that I have for myself for the future are to ensure positive
reinforcement, include as much interactive and engaging lessons in my teaching, and ensure
fairness for rules and expectations for all students and classes. The most important one to me is
the first goal that I have: ensuring positive reinforcement.
ASSIGNMENT
LEARNING INSIGHT
Lesson 1 tackles about the Socially Responsible Teachers: Rich with
Philosophical Heritage and Active Members of Social Institutions. Philosophy can
be defined as a set of ideas that answer question about the nature of reality and abut the
meaning of life. Some important questions that are commonly asked are…. What is knowledge?
what is worth striving for? what is just, good, right or beautiful? these are philosophical
questions that maybe important in teachers’ lives. Philosophy of education is a set of related
beliefs that influence what and how students are taught. Teachers’ philosophy of education
guides their behavior of performance in the classroom. The philosophy statement reflects their
personality and values.

LESSON 2
MOTIVATION
1. What is the role of the teachers?

— The primary role of a teacher is to deliver classroom instruction that helps


students learn. To accomplish this, teachers must prepare effective lessons, grade
student work and offer feedback, manage classroom materials, productively
navigate the curriculum, and collaborate with other staff. A good teacher helps
us to become good human beings in society and good citizens of the country.
Because teachers know that students are the future of any country. Let us know
what is the importance of teachers in a student’s life.

2. How can you show that you belong to the noblest profession?
—If you do any kind of work from your deepest of the heart without any expectations from
others with selfless attitude. If that all reflects from you within ,then you don't need to show,
it's is just appears to others. so it could be any kind of Professions from highest prestigious to
lowest of low

ARTICLE 1
•Who are covered by the Code of Ethics?
—According to Article 1 Scope and limitations, Code of Ethics covers all public
and private school teachers in all educational institutions at the preschool,
primary, elementary, and secondary levels whether academic, vocational, special,
technical, or non-formal. The term “teacher” shall include industrial arts or
vocational teachers and all other persons performing supervisory and / or
administrative functions in all school at the previously mentioned levels, whether
on full time or part-time basis.

ARTICLE 2
• What is the academic freedom of Teachers?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article II, The Teacher and the State Section 8. Every teachers
shall enjoy academic freedom and shall have privilege of expounding the product of his
researches and investigations; provided that, if the results are inimical to the declared policies
of the State, they shall be brought to the proper authorities for appropriate remedial action.
The benefits of academic freedom accrue not only to professors, students and institutions but
primarily to the broader society through the creation of new knowledge and innovations, and
ultimately, through political, economic, social and technological progress. In short, academic
freedom serves the common good.

•Why should teachers by physically, mentally, and morally fit?

— Satisfactorily, it is therefore a must that teachers are physically, mentally and


morally fit for them to carry out and serve best their clienteles. They have to be
mentally healthy and emotionally well. Teachers should possess an attitude of
working very hard to do or support something. Full commitment and devotion to
duty is expected from a teacher. Teachers are role model. As in this case, they
have to be exemplars of working performance, work ethics, and work attitudes.

ARTICLE 3
• As a facilitator of learning, what is your responsibility to the students?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article III, The Teacher and the Community Section 1. A
teacher is a facilitator of learning of the development of the youth, he shall, therefore, render
the best service by providing an environment conducive to such learning and growth. I believe
that my role as a facilitator is to help children to enjoy learning and to become independent
without being afraid to try new things. I would focus on a child’s strengths and would use these
to help bring out the best in the child. This, in turn, would help boost self esteem which I
believe is really important.

• What practices manifest honorable and dignified behavior?


— According to the Code of Ethics Article III, The Teacher and the Community Section 3. Every
teacher shall merit reasonable social recognition for which purpose he shall behave with honor
and dignity at all times and refrain such activities as gambling, smoking, drunkenness, and other
excess, much less illicit relations. They should not engage to immoral acts and other doings not
allowed by the law.

• Why do you need to study about the community you are assigned to?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article III, The Teacher and the Community Section 4. Every
teacher shall love for and with the community and shall, therefore, study and understand local
customs and traditions in order to have a sympathetic attitude, therefore, refrain from disparaging
the community.

ARTICLE 4
• How could you show that you belong to the noblest profession?
— Every teacher shall actively insure that reaching is the noblest profession,
and shall manifest genuine enthusiasm and pride in teaching as a noble
calling.

• Why should teachers participate in the Continuing Professional


Education Program of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article IV, The Teacher and the Profession Section 3.
Every teacher shall participate in the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program of the
Professional Regulation Commission, and shall pursue such other studies as will to improve his
efficiency, enhance the prestige of the profession, and strengthen his competence, virtues, and
productivity in oder to be nationally and internationally competitive.

ARTICLE 5
• What is your responsibility regarding confidential information?
— According to Code of Ethics Article V, The Teacher and Teaching Community Section 4. A
teacher shall hold inviolate all confidential information concerning associates and the school,
and shall not divulge to anyone documents which has not been officially released, or remove
records from files without permission.

• In times of controversies affecting the learners, the school or the profession, what
should be your stand as a teacher? why?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article V, The Teacher and Teaching Community Section 1.
Teachers shall, at all times, be imbued with the spirit of professional loyalty, mutual confidence,
and faith in one another, self-sacrifice for the common good and full profession with colleagues.
When the best interest of the learners, the school, or the profession is at stake in any controversy,
teachers shall support one another.

ARTICLE 6
• What is your obligation to the school and administration you work with?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article VI, The Teacher and the higher authorities in the
Philippines Section 1. Every teacher shall make it his duty to make an honest effort to
understand and support the legitimate policies of the school and the administration regardless
of personal feeling or private opinion and shall carry them out.

• You have the right to seek redress against injustice to the


administration, how are you going to do that?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article VI, The Teacher and the higher authorities in the
Philippines Section 4. Every teacher, individually or as part of a group, has a right to seek
redress against in justice to the administration and to the extent possible, shall raise grievances
within acceptable democratic process. In doing so, they shall avoid jeopardizing the interest and
the welfare of learners whose right to learn must be respected

• What is your obligation as a contractual teacher?


— According to the Code of Ethics Article VI, The Teacher and the higher authorities in the
Philippines Section 6. A teacher who accepts the position assumes a contractual obligation to
live up to this contract, assuming knowledge of employment terms of conditions. Permanent or
regular appointment does not mean that it's forever. For Incase of negligence to duties and
poor performances in the job, security of tenure cannot be used as shield for disciplinary action
or even termination.

ARTICLE 7
• When can a teacher be dismissed from service?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article VII, School Officials, Teachers and the other Personel
Section 4. No school officials shall dismiss or recommend for dismissal a teacher or other
subordinates except for a cause.
ARTICLE 8
• What should be the teacher's attitude towards gifts?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article VIII, The Teachers and Learners Section 4. A teacher
shall not accept favors or gifts from learners, their parents or others in their behalf in exchange
for requested concessions, especially if undeserved.

ARTICLE 9
• How can you establish cordial relationship with parents?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article IX, The Teacher and Parents Section 1. Every teacher
shall establish and maintain cordial relations with parents, and shall conduct himself to merit
their confidence and respect. Positive connections between parents and teachers have been
shown to improve children's academic achievement, social competencies and emotional well-
being. When parents and teachers work as partners, children do better in school and at home.
ARTICLE 10
• Name some legitimate income generating activities you could engage in
the augment your income?
— Teachers are not barred to engage, directly or indirectly. In legitimate income generation. It
should only be that business should not be related to teaching and should be done beyond
working hours.

• How are you going to deal with it?


— According to the Code of Ethics Article X, The Teacher and Business Section 2. A teacher
maintain a good reputation with respect to the financial matters such as in the settlement of hi
debts and loans in arranging satisfactorily his private financial affairs.

ARTICLE 11
• What is the primary principle a teacher should consider regarding
relationship with others?
— According to the Code of Ethics Article XI, The Teacher as Person Section 2. A teacher
shall place premium upon self-discipline as the primary principle of personal
behavior in all relationships with other and in all situations.

• How could a teacher exemplify dignified personality?


— According to the Code of Ethics Article XI, The Teacher as Person Section 3. A
teacher shall maintain at all times a dignifies personality which could serve as
a model worthy of emulation by learners, peers and all others.

ARTICLE 12
• What disciplinary actions could be imposed to erring teacher who violate
the provision of the code?
— Any violation of any provision of this Code shall be sufficient ground for the
imposition against the erring teacher of the disciplinary action consisting of
revocation of this Certification of Registration and License as a Professional
Teacher, suspension from the practice of teaching profession, or reprimand, or
cancellation of his temporary/special permit.

1. How can you establish cordial relationship with parents?
— Positive connections between parents and teachers have been shown to
improve children's academic achievement, social competencies and emotional
well-being. Teachers can create cordial relationship to the parents by providing
ways that can help at home and in the classroom. Be positive. Smile at your parents.
Stay positive and warm. Let them know with your body language that you are happy to see
them and that you care about their well-being. This will set the tone for your communication
and will help to improve the relationship.
2. How could a teacher exemplify dignified personality?
— Serve as a model worthy of emulation by learners, peers and all others. doing any bad that
will mark our personality. dictate to our life but we must embrace it because we choose this
profession.

ASSIGNMENT
LEARNING INSIGHT
Lesson 2 talks about the Code of Ethics, a professional code of ethics outlines teachers'
primary responsibilities to their students and defines their role in a student's life. The Code of
Ethics of the Education Profession indicates the aspiration of all educators and provides
standards by which to judge conduct and also it discuses the ethical and moral practices that
the teachers and students do.
